Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- one of life's gilty pleasures

I’m not even talking about the GG story-related intros at all. I’m talking about regular intros that occur in every match. Past GG titles had a quick, simultaneous animation. GG Xrd appears to have a [roughly] 10 second cutscene for each character.

And people skipped those which you don’t fucking understand.

Yeah, I guess I forgot that those could be skipped as well.

No need to be so hostile though. Calm down.

Did you just say buff nomadic Karate Men are not an Anime Stereotype?

Please stop talking about Anime. Thank you.

who fucking cares you insecure nerds

Yeah. Anyone watch Soul Eater? Because I think the voice actor of Crona will be perfect for A.B.A.

SF is anime as fuck
Even if you pick only the original 8, almost every character was heavily inspired on something like JoJo and HnK and even then the ones that weren’t directly inspired are super over the top like Dhalsim

People just like to say “Oh, it’s old, so that’s not anime at all” because nostalgia is a beautiful thing

How about we drop the off topic talk before I start having to delete posts while waving a very kawaii (it has wings and all) banhammer.

Go in vs mode. Do sol vs ky or any rival battle. A special cutscene plays. People skip that.

Do Sol vs Bridget. Normal intro. People skip that.

People skip pre-fight intros in every fg out there, doesn’t mean the don’t appreciate the bit of character they add.

And yes, Potemkin airdrop intro is BAWSS!

This argument about which games are anime is

Sorry, I misunderstood you. Looking back, almost all my play time was spent in training on past GG games, since only had the PSP version of XX(no story mode) and the Japanese version of AC.

I agree. But Ky’s intro seems a bit drawn out to me.

They’re probably having fun with the intros considering the 3D camera and all. Not many places they really get to show it off.

Sorry for dragging the thread in another direction, but I was trying to focus the discussion on GG. My “anime” post was very general and I wasn’t looking to get too deep into it. What I really wanted to get at is how all this extra flashiness and new character designs are going to go over when the game releases. I personally welcome the new look, but do you all think ASW is making the right decisions regarding Xrd’s appearance? SF is generally well-recieved in the U.S. not because it doesn’t have any Japanese elements to it(I think some of you misunderstood me on this. SF is clearly Japanese in design) but because it’s a mostly tame-looking and easy to understand fighter(obviously not COMPLETELY tame-looking with fireballs and such, but not anything on the level of MvC or BB). GG has never been easy to understand, and I’m not really saying ASW should change that, but for an “anime”/airdash fighter it was probably the most tame-looking out of them all. The pace of the gameplay was always fast, no single move took up too much screen time, the color scheme was not as bold or vibrant as most fighters of its kind, etc. I have a feeling a lot of this is going to change, and the only reason I’m concerned is because I genuinely want more people to play this game.

Is there a convenient video that has just the cinematic stuff from the loc tests available? Like the intros and the supers?

A.B.A. voiced by Crona… I like the concept of it, since Crona is as bonkers as A.B.A., if not more so, but I’d want to see the execution before I hold definite judgement.

I’m going to be inconsolable if ABA doesn’t make the cut. How popular of a character do you think she is?

I think she’s pretty popular. You’re like the 500th person asking for her.

In my opinion, I think the characters people want most in the game are:
1.Dizzy
2.Bridget
3.Robo-Ky
4.ABA
5.Jam
6.Faust

There’s no way Dizzy is not making it in. Xrd is taking place after GG2, correct? She should be a huge part of the story then.

Another question is how did I-No make it into the game if she was killed by That Man?

It’s a fighting game guys. They’ll put the characters they want in the game regardless of story.
