So is ArcSys required by law to have terrible animation or something? I would have thought that making the jump to 3D models would IMPROVE the animation, but they move to 3D models and still cut the animation either to look more like the 2D sprites or to make the work easier on themselves or something. Either way, it looks bad and I’m disappointed.

Man seeing Sol perform the Dustloop just makes me think they’re gonna stay loyal here. This might genuinely be GG in everything but it’s old visuals. Which is, in turn EXACTLY what the world wanted.

I actually prefer this celshaded style with 3d models above sprites… the way they pulled it off is really well done.
I’ve watched how 3D is used in anime like the new Berserk and Cyborg 009, and others and it always has this cheapish feel to it. Somehow after having watched this trailer a few times i don’t get
that “cheapish” feeling, maybe because of the stylized animations, still animation isn’t that smooth eventhough they use 3 models. Anyway might be burned for saying this but i also like that it is seems a bit slower, first GG that actually peaked my interest >.>

Couple of thoughts.
- Hope it is available for this gen.
- It’s weird seeing the changes in Millia’s and Ky’s looks, so used to the same outfits for so long that it’s strange to see them outside of it. I’ll get used to them though,as long as the changes are not too outlandish.
- I don’t mind the 3d graphics, they managed to emulate the style,and it seems to play the same.
- I’m a Faust and Zappa main, so i’m hoping they both get in, generally hoping most of the characters make it actually, as well as some new ones. The 3d models should make this easier to accomplish, since it is less time consuming.
- Glad to see Daisuke return, it would not be the same without his music.
- Interested in seeing what changes are made to the gameplay, hopefully nothing too drastic, but it’s a new game, I expect some will happen.
Overall though just excited to be getting a new game at all.
Ishiwatari is a master. His music has stood the test of time and has set the standard for over a decade on how FG music should be. I still have the full OST on my iPhone and I still listen to it regularly, I’m beyond glad he’s coming back. Kind of hope they remix the themes much like they’re doing with the new Blazblue, that shit worked brilliantly.
Ugh. Why do I get the feeling I won’t be playing this for another 2 years at least? When the fuck is +R coming to the states??
In any case, I can’t wait to see what new characters they come with.
