Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- one of life's gilty pleasures

people usually play BB for about a month. That leaves two years until GG comes out.

He’s pretty good as Ky.

So yeah, I hope Xrd gets an english track if they can get a good cast together.

I say Christina Vee as May, she’s a cutie. And just for the hell of it Kyle Hebert as Venom. And Steve Blum the god of voice acting as everybody else.

your modified version of Sol looks great.

on the upside, its still in development and they’re using 3D models now so i think they could fix it up a bit.

I wonder if making Sol buffer is an attempt to make him look more distinctive and move away from the anime “noodle people” look. Not that I think he needs it.

As I am wont to point out, SF4 actually does alot of small morphs/transforms for each character, the simplest being enlarging limbs for certain normals to match the proportions of the old sprites.

Send it to ASW

Well, as I said, I didn’t really care for SF4 (for reasons I won’t bother to go into), but I can certainly respect the work that they did. Dhalsim’s model is just the one that really sticks out the most to me, from what I’ve seen of that game.

Wich is funny because many of the normals lack the effectiveness of their 2d counterparts, specially after every nerf with each revision :coffee:

.

I’m not sure Sol’s proportions can be fixed. They’re using the Unreal Engine.

Not the point.

I know you like to argue, but geez.

Okay I seriously sent that Sol image to ASW’s twitter on two accounts and if I can figure out how to send an email or something to them I’m doing that too. The right Sol looks so much better it’s ridiculous. The Ky model is fine, the Millia model looks great, it’s just Sol that got the XII Ralf treatment and it’s silly. It could be early enough into development that if we expressed our want for a slimmer Sol model they might be able to do something about it.

If the game came out today, everyone would be saying “Man this game is awesome! I’ve always respected the GG series for so long!” Then two weeks later they’ll quit the game and go back to playing SFIV and UMVC3 because HERP DERP CAPCOM MAEKS TEH BES GAYMZ.

Actually, it probably won’t be too different in two or three years when Xrd comes out, except the only difference they’ll be playing whatever shit Capcom scooped out of their assholes and served to the incredibly gullible US FGC.

IN ANY CASE, I wasn’t that thrilled with how the game looked when I first saw it, but it has grown on me a bit. I think it looks great when it’s “2D” and they’re fighting on a 2D plane. When the camera zooms and makes it apparent they’re 3D models, I think it looks a bit off. Not terrible, but just something I’m not used to.

On the subject of dumbing things down, Daisuke Ishiwatari has said before that he does not plan on dumbing the series down. They might not, considering he’s the director, but money talks a lot louder than words. That said, I think people, GG OGs like myself, need to go into this expecting it may be dumbed down, even just a little bit, and accept it beforehand; we don’t need a bunch of unreasonably bitter old men like with what happened with BlazBlue (i.e. expecting nothing but HD Guilty Gear).

Hopefully we’ll hear more about the game soonish!

EDIT: I hope the game is not on the Unreal Engine 3… because that engine is dated as hell and has trouble with texture popping. It’d be pretty awful to see characters loading in and looking like mud people or randomly looking like mud people from time to time.

I don’t really see the problem with Sol’s new look, I just think they’re going for a slightly more cartoony style with exaggerated proportions.

The western feel of that level is awesome. With the saloon guy on the right and other junk, this game gives a whole new feel.

You mean the feel it always had

I just want original grown up Jelly Fish Lolis back, no more Madoka lolis.

Guilty gear isn’t a game that needs to be dumbed down. It is easy to jump into, and you always feel like you are doing something somewhat impressive even as a beginner.

The only thing I can really see them ‘dumbing down’ is FRC timing windows. I could see them making those a bit wider because that is the main execution barrier to get ‘competitive’ for a new player imo. I don’t really feel like most BNBs/strings are all that hard otherwise. I’m interested to see if a deliberate effort is made to preserve things like 1 frame jumps, all types of JI, and ID type stuff though.

I was wondering because the only other fighting games are from NRS but I don’t remember any texture popping with their games except during their cinematics. I think fighting games could handle the pop in problem better than other genres. In FPS and TPS games, since you are approaching objects they try to redraw the texture depending on distance (if you a far away it’ll use a shitty texture because you can’t tell the difference), but since FGs really don’t move the camera around as much, it shouldn’t be too much of a problem. There’s only 2 characters so maybe it’ll also help with the loading issue, even with helpers like Little Eddie and Zappa’s friends.

I could also seem them bringing in the super jump system from BB, where you can still double jump after a super jump, eliminating the whole ‘jump install’ thing.

Buff Sol reminds me of FF Terry to MOTW Terry.
