Guile Moveset and Attributes

I only use it against Ryu as they tend to use c.mk quite a bit and it stuffs the step kick and backfist which are my usual pokes.

Nice. I need to remember to do this. I usually try to read a ryu’s crouch mk fireball and counter fk their fireball but i should definately throw in some sobats to mix it up.

SideNote: Still working on fadc sonic boom mid combo… I’m breaking it down, right now just working on cr. mp->lp boom ->fadc… I pretty much have this down… now going to throw in cr. lp at the beginning of the combo. The link between lp to mp throws off my timing for the boom fadc… o well just have to practice…

sobat does not beat shoto c.forward…

c.forward beats all of guiles normals. All of them.

Try using st.short. Or cr.rh the whiff.

Thanks dagger, i almost never utilize standing short, i will definitely try this. I’ve started sweeping c.forward whiffs just recently, as suggested by Fuson. My reactions are not as keen as yours or fusons, but i seem to be able to do it somewhat consistently…

it “can” beat the c.forward it just has to be done really early, which makes it difficult. The problem with the sobat is it takes a long time for guile to get off the ground. I have that info in my japanese strategy guide at home. It shows how many frames it takes for the sobat/ b+rh to get off the ground. I’ll try and post that info later to the wiki.

Sobat was alot better in other SF’s cause it made guile leave the ground really quick and was unpunishable.

No, it cant. if you hit that g spot frame that allows guile to tech c.forward sobat will whiff anyway.

So apparently Ryu’s j. lk stuffs Guile’s rh. FK from about 13 feet off the ground. That was pretty humiliating to lose to. Model’s didn’t even make contact…

if started early it will completely stuff shoto’s low forward
other moves will magically beat low forward also just depending on how strong the move is

Kich - never antiair with guiles rh FK, either short FK or ex FK

if you tech low forward with sobat, sobat will whiff. i guess if you do sobat 4-5 frames before low forward is inputted it might stuff it before low forward starts

edit: i tested guiles normals against ryu’s c.forward pretty thoroughly months ago out of frustration.

I use it a lot. It’s a good zoning tool; his bozooka knee is also a really solid zoning tool, and you could buffer his SB’s.

Since I started using the bazooka knee and sobat, Sagats, Giefs, Blankas…almost all the matchups have been easier to get through. Especially Gief, this matchup has become one of my favs cuz I know I’m frustrating the dog shit out of the other guy.

Anyways, to get it to beat a shoto c.forward you have to use it in anticipation of the kick. You can’t use it on reaction to it. I stand around the maximum range of their c.forward when I use it. Against lower skilled players you can do it alot after a blocked sonic boom. Stand in that range while they’re blocking and see what they do. If they do c.forward then you know you’ll be able to get them with it alot.

Syngin and Slinkun (as somebody has stated). 5 people should be enough unless others want to be candidates.

B+ MK is good for spacing whilst charging for your Sonic boom. I anti-aired a shoto clean when they did a J HK, but this was more a fluke really so i would not consider the B+MK to a reliable anti-air by any means.

F+MK is good for putting some offensive pressure on the opponent when they are on the defensive. Fuson and other players has used this to good effect. It may also be used to advance on the opponent like the B+LK, however the B+LK will enable you to charge for a sonic boom whilst the F+Mk won’t

At what situation Sobat and Bazooka Knee are useful against Sagat, Gief n Blanka?

I could never really make full use of bazooka knee, and I spam Sobat randomly and pointlessly :rofl:

With Sagat, use the bazooka knee to close the distance instead of jumping in and eating a HK. When you get close enough poke (f.hp, b.hk -while buffering SB), don’t jump until you’re in crossup distance. If you get a knockdown, sobat your way out…and see how he reacts.

The sobat works well against Blanka ball (but it’s more anticipation than reaction); it also helps avoid that annoying slide. If Blanka doesn’t have EX bars, throw SB and close distance with bazooka. I’m sure you know it’s not safe to crossup Blanka, keep the fucker in front of you.

With Gief, spam em in a strategic manner. He’s trying to get close to you, so throw a shitload of SB’s and sobat your way out, and keep throwing SB’s…and change up the speed of SB’s. If you change up the speed of the SB’s, Gief will be jumping around or doing the lariat, and if you throw in a bazooka knee, buffering a SB, you have a high percentage of consistantly hitting him with your SB’s.

lol…Guile is so sick, wish I could use him like the top guys on SRK.
