can i get a link?
I officially deem the Viper match-up 7.5-2.5. It’s really bad!
EDIT: It’s really hard for me to stay playing Guile to win. And please practice the new Fei-Long match-up. All he literally has to do it walk up focus.
Well,I agree with dieminion and warahk If you want to win a tournament, or to have a win streak on AE. Don’t play guile…
Guile in AE sucks. Thats it. He is a low damage, can’t build meter, defensive style character.
Its so easy to play against guile now, just keep walking forward…
Just take all the low damage booms, flashkicks, backfist punch …
The only way for guile in ae to have a higher chance to win a game is being super super super lame.
Being super lame can’t win a good player. Bye bye guile see you at sf x t
Dieminion
A good Fei really gives Guile problems. I been playing Fei quite a lot in AE and the way for me to deal with walk up FA is to jf and throw them when Guile lands. Mix it up with jf.lp/lk works quite well when using this and if they backdash, Guile gains a little bit of ground.
The Feis that are giving me problems are those that space their rekka well so you can’t punish on the 1st hit on block and will delay 2nd hit rekka to counterhit Guile. They can slowly push Guile to the corner this way and once in the corner, it’s game over as you can’t cross him up even after a hit on FK fadc forward as his SRK can beat it. I see no way out of the corner unless Guile can score a backthrow which is almost impossible and Fei can just rekka you into the corner. It doesn’t matter if you block or you get hit. Once he’s at rekka distance, Guile is at a disadvantage. He can just walk and buffer qcf and press punch if you whiff. If you do nothing, he’ll just rekka to make you block.
The only chance I have is to FA his first hit rekka and release it asap to try to counterhit the 2nd hit so that it crumples. But this only works if you use characters with fast FAs like Sagat and not Guile. Or try to predict a rekka with s.hp which isn’t in Guile’s favour as Fei can punish Guile easily if s.hp whiffs. Fei doesn’t have to use chicken wing to get in in this matchup at all, but he still has the option for him. I think Fei’s moves really hit the opponent too far and that’s why he’s top tier.
Actually, I think Fei can still pwn Guile the same way in Super. Hope you can break the matchup down for me as I can’t see any strategy Guile can win.
Personally think it’s the dmg nerf that kills Guile on this matchup. A perfect example of why Fei’s or any other character have no reason to fear Guile. They can even out or greater the trade towards their advantage on this. Guile had more of a chance in Super with his dmg alone. The CH on booms is another thing that Fei’s go for in anticipation which further goes towards Fei’s advantage as well. God forbid you play against a Fei that not only spaces his rekkas but OS’s on top of it. Then you’re really screwed. Otherwise, learn to make the corner your best friend.
On a side note, I hate Akuma’s j.lk ambiguous corner cross up. It’s so difficult to get out of that it’s silly.
EDIT: I do have to admit though, as difficult as the matches have become. I have learned alot on Guile’s normals and just footsies in AE (aka counterhit setups and frametraps).
Quoted for truth.
The Fei-Long match-up is different from SSF4 because you get counter-hit for throwing booms now. I know some of you guys are like, “We’ll maybe the counter-hit sonic boom thingy will help me to stop throwing booms so close” , but they shouldn’t get an extra reward for guess jumping in on Guile. Since boom has a small hitbox due to it’s size it’s easier for Fei-Long to get around them. I played 2 hours of Fei vs. Guile against TSMin last night and his Fei was giving me more problems that I actually expected. Mostly guess jumping, spacing rekkas, random focus attacks, and of course delayed flame kick fadc chicken wing which takes more damage than Guile’s strongest combo.
- Walk Up random focus attack
This is a great strategy against Guile because it limits his options to virtually nothing. Guile has no armor break outside of Flashkick, so if you’re walking backwards to distance yourself properly for footsies you’re just cornering yourself which is Fei-Long’s best friend. Focus beats all of your pokes, cr.forward, st.fierce, backfist, you can’t even throw sonic boom up close because if he just has to tap focus and let it go to get that counter-hit. One successful rekka means cornered and for Guile we all know that the worst place to be. This has become a new strategy for Fei players to deal with Guile’s zoning. Simply tap focus.
-Guess jump strong
Such a good move for obvious reasons. Since the move has excellent downward range, it stuffs Guile out of cr.fierce and he doesn’t have to jump early to punish a good read on sonic boom unlike most characters because of the range of the move. That’s instant counter-hit easy confirm combo into most likely rekkas to put Guile into the corner. Need I say more?
For me it seems too easy to fight Guile and I even know myself because I play Guile players with other characters. I feel like I’m losing matches because of overall damage nerf and air throw nerf. Congrats to the people that feel like they are getting better because of nerfs.
I’ll be on standby to see what other players have to input into this match-up.
EDIT: Hi Gameuppp, great post. Is Gameoutttt coming to EVO? I want to play him with Sagat in a long set.
Don’t forget to add on to the fact that as bad as building meter overall is, you really feel the meter nerf against Fei. Also, forget you have a flashkick against Fei.
EDIT: Some of the Fei’s that I’ve played like using the cr.mp > Cr.hp counterhit at a particular range. I know that you can FA the cr.hp and get an instant crumple stun in there. Basically punish with whatever your hardest combo is. If I have full stock and u1, I’ll blow it all on that one crumple stun. XD
Rexell is Gameuppp?
I’ve always had trouble with the fei match up and rexell breaks it down best. rekka is safe if spaced properly and out prioritizes everything. Guiles most consistent punish for rekka is flash kick, but to have a flash kick ready you need to sit on a down charge. If you sit on a down charge spacing jab rekka to be safe becomes much easier for fei. if you choose to walk back and forth to make spacing more difficult for fei guiles ability to punish rekkas on block is weaker.
When cornered by fei it feels similar to being cornered by balrog, feis jab rekka functions as jab straight, but does not require charge.
lol your right. I just try to be as unpredictable and not get myself cornered cause yuns rushdown is too good. I agree with you whole post.
I have huge trouble with cammys, dee jays and roses
Re: dieminion
Gameoutttt has sponsor for shadowloo showdown. Let’s see him on live stream Tmr. But I don’t think he can make it far with guile, maybe counter pick yun lol…
He is not going to Evo anyways…
You switched to sagat? man it’s impossible to win sagat with guile @ae lol.
Re warahk:
Hi wolverine I’m gameupppp XD
just say hi to gameoutttt he’s super nice. Good luck to u @ shadowloo!
who’s streaming it?!?!
thank you!
i am officially demoralised. i’m sure there were people who’ve been playing this game for six months who had a little chuckle when they saw how optimistic i was.
i still stand by my opinion that guile isn’t as bad as i thought he was going to be. i was aware that i was going to have to switch to secondary characters in certain matches…
…i just don’t like this version of the game.
the online aspect of this game is worse than before, and i really don’t know why. it seems laggier than ever. i have started to play like a complete scrub in certain matches just out of sheer frustration.
you can’t turtle very effectively. you zone in the fear of a random jump in that leads to a counter hit combo. you try footsies, then get blown up by a lot of these characters who have super fast focus attacks that shit all over you. so basically the game subconsciously tells you that rush down is the way to win.
so in that case, why not learn someone like yun, right? wrong. he may be godly in an offline tournament setting, i have no doubt about that. try using him online. divekick = mash throw/jab/dp. wanna try a combo like cr.mp x2, st.mp, up kicks…or combo into genai jin? = lag. did oni just do a shit load of totally random moves on you that no player with half a brain would ever do? = you’re dead because yun has low health.
it’s the same reason you don’t see many rufus players online…even though you have crap loads of them at tournaments. lag kills his game. same goes for seth too.
anyways, pass me the morton’s.
Ahh, it’s still not as bad as I would of thought though. I’ve just been grinding it out online trying to learn everything, and adapt to everything that I have too. I’ve played so many Oni’s its not even funny. For the most part the Yuns and Yangs are free, they still can’t handle a turtle, I can blow up B Ranked players just using simple tactics, you really just gotta play as much as you can and get your fundaments down 100% to be playing Guile. As for a secondary I’m using Dudley.
How the hell do you win the fireball war now? This is so frustrating. You can’t even properly punish with Spinning Back Fist anymore @ 90 damage. Like what key things do you have to do now?
This feels worse than vanilla.
the worst part is that shoto’s with brains have realised they can get the life lead and then out turtle guile, kinda like in vanilla…just not as bad. if you back off, they just start spamming lp.srk to build meter. i got blown up by a ryu player yesterday and it was probably the scrubbiest 5 games i’ve played since i got half decent at sf4. i was so pissed off that i was just random flash kicking everything lol.
p.s, who the fuck was responsible for that tier list? oni is an absolute beast. he plays kinda like a shoto mixed with guile, then with an air dash! which reminds me… have you played around with some of his demon setups? holy shit. lk slash whiff into demon, fwd.mk whiff into demon, air demon. loads of ways to use his ultras. ex slash goes through fireballs. his anti airs are all solid. he can play keep away very well. huge damage. only weakness i can see is reasonably low health…
…why is he any less ‘broken’ than super’s guile (not that i think either are actually broken, but you get the point)? makes zero sense.
On this note, anyone experience Oni’s vortex as of yet?
Come to think of it, I’m maining Oni and putting Guile as my secondary. Oni’s vortex options are too sick.
Not sure if it’s been mentioned before, but against Yun you can reversal super (lk or mk version) the target combo (the mp, hp, palm) on the second hit. Makes quick work of players that like to spam that shit.
