findally did some WvW last night. While I was waiting to get in my friends managed to capture a place and defend it. We were outnumbered but somehow kept them back. Lots of fun, and I finally upgraded my damn short bow. I hit 72 and I think I might just use WvW to get the rest of my levels
Do you guys usually bounce around different races’ zones to level or just heart/event/gathering in linear zones?
well on my first run through on my ele, i didnt really clear zones, i was mostly event farming and killing stuff 8 levels higher than me cause it was good xp and loot. but now im leveling my thief im taking a different approach, im full clearing every zone i go to. and not touching crafting or personal story. if u dont craft or do personal story you will have to do atleast 2 zones with the same level range. im currently lvl38 recently full cleared fields of ruin and now working on harathi hinterlands.
I go to a zone I need to be in (story, dungeon, level, etc) and stay there until I’ve gotten 100% map completion.
I’m thinking a keep-away conditions based thief build would be really fun. Serves a 3-fold purpose: It’s scary bleed/venom damage, it’s toll-liscious, it keeps someone out of the bigger fight.
Question: Is it out of the question for Anet to implement Epic weapons/armor Quests?
Bought the highest tier rune/crest to insert into my back accessory only to find out it doesn’t fit and only accepts the lowest tier gemstones. wtf.
Right now my lvl 80 is in the Orr zones zerging events but whenever I feel like crafting or need to use TP/Bank I just travel to a WvW borderland. Saves me coin from having to go back to Lion’s arch.
So they nerfed Cadeceus’s Manor… I got only 88 copper and <3000 exp from one full runthrough tonight where I used to get 13 silver and like a level’s worth of experience. Profound sadness.
Not to mention there are champions and more enemies per group now in addition to dogs fearing everywhere.
So they nerfed rewards but also buffed dungeons. Way too harsh.
Damn those dogs fear-chained my party and we each got one-shotted by the lieutenant or mauled by 3 other dogs. It’s ridiculous how long the fear is (3-5 seconds). Plus now even some of the adds will just chain knockdowns on you while you get one-shotted by the champion(s) with them. I regret not taking advantage and to spamming the dungeon at least ten more times when the rewards were good. :crybaby:
Haven’t tried AC post-patch yet. I’ll return to it eventually when my warrior reaches level 30. Hopefully they will find some sort of compromise on the reward/difficulty ratio by then.
So what should i be using karma on?
I can get swag armor pieces for 42k or a weapon for 63k
if you are interested in being tankier, the 42k set has some pieces that are power(main)/vitality/toughness (i think melandru and dwayna have most of the pieces). You can’t craft armor with that combination of stats, or even one with just vitality/toughness together.
The only other power/vit/toughness sets are Honor of the Waves, Sorrow’s Embrace, and WvW. Either way you’re looking at like 8+ hours of work per piece, but Karma you can do solo lol.
^ yeah thats probably the best use for karma…a swag weapon at level 80 is like 3g and im pretty sure you can get 3g faster than 63k karma. whats weird about those 42k sets is that not one of the heavy ones has power/tough/vit on the HELM (unless the wiki is wrong).
me and six have decided to grind SE for tokens. i want the shoulders and leg pieces. the boots and gloves look like butt so ill probably get the 42k power/tough/vit pieces from orr.
if anyone wants to mash on SE for token farming hit us up, it’s really good money too!
Wanted to see how fast I could level crafting if I spent more than 10 minutes at a time on them. Got leatherworking, huntsmen and jeweling all to 400 so far. Will work on cooking and weaponsmithing next.
My question is, is crafting even profitable? Or is it only so you can craft your own equipment? The trading post runs across all servers and you can’t trade between players (which I’m okay with since it prevents scamming), but the kicker is you’re hit with a listing fee and transaction tax which eats into your margins.
anyone have any strong necro builds for sPvP?
Thief is fun and all, but i’m sick of derping my way through stuff with pistol whip spec…
I think the point of crafting is to make your own stuff. How much money does it take to 400 a profession anyway?
Guys google “combat mode 1.0“ it makes the game a hell of a lot more fun.
New patch makes a lot of good changes…probably all bugged to hell atm though. Still at least things are changing for the better.
Been mashing on coe explore modes. Its actually one of the most fun and “fair“ dungeons to do. Just 2 more runs until i get My swag shoulders.
For me, not a lot. I bought maybe 20% of my materials from the TP, mostly the insignias as it was cheaper to buy the finished product than the raw materials (claws, fangs, blood, venom, etc) needed to craft them. The rest of the materials such as the scraps, ores and logs I had stockpiled from exploring and harvesting every resource node I came across.
My end game consists of teleporting around the world to kill the 3 elder dragons, going through the dynamic event chains in Orr to pop and kill the Priest/Priestesses and during downtime farming tier 6 crafting mats and rares to salvage into Ectoplasms. Doesn’t take long to earn my daily achievement that way, or I just log in with another character and play that.
Edit: Got cooking which had been sitting at 225 for awhile to 400 in about 25 minutes. Too easy with crafting boost and having all the materials on hand.
i made over 40 gold crafting superior rune of the pirate, but since last week, that market is dead. prices are terrible now. so i havent made any money from crafting since then. im pretty sure there are some profitable things out there, but you have to really do your research.
what is the best way to make money anyway? i would imagine its something like playing the AH
By best I assume you mean the most optimal, fastest way while exerting the least amount of work and/or investing the fewest amount of time. In that case it’s simple, just use GW2’s version of the RMAH. Buy gems and trade them for gold.
Making gold is a little tough to figure, one of the game’s design goals was to keep the distribution of wealth even across all players. If we’re to use real world economics then Anet wants to keep the gini index and income inequality among players close to 0.
Some ideas:
Dungeon grinding probably not what they had in mind for players since they nerfed it.
Mystic forge I wouldn’t bother with (turning greens into yellows). You’re essentially gambling and we don’t know what the % of success is.
WvWvW a possibility but if you’re getting steamrolled by another server you lose a lot in repair costs. Unless you don’t mind fighting naked.
I still think crafting is viable but like Ken34 said, you gotta research what’s good.
Me, I’m just gonna stick to playing normally and making gold through events and vendoring/selling loot drops. Not like money is really needed anyway what with all the karma gear.
best way to make money:
- buy all of something
- go on reddit and post about how amazing it is and how people are sleeping on it
- watch as it sells for double what you paid
yea its crazy how much reddit has affected the economy, lol.
