[Guild Wars 2]

You should craft anyways, because even after 80, you still gain levels at a decent rate. I gain skill points just randomly wandering around and dungeons give like 160k at level 80 it’s not like you’ll be hurting for exp. You should start crafting once you get bored of the zone you are in imo. Though the higher level zones seem to have pretty buggy quests at times like escorts not moving or certain events not triggering. If nothing else you can run easy dungeon runs like cm (exp scales with level now in dungeons).

You get 1 skill point every time you “level” after you hit 80 then the bar resets and you can keep doing this forever.

yea dont take those skill points lightly, they are needed if you plan on making certain exotics and legendaries. and you need lots of them, lol.

Yeah, 400 levels in crafting = 10 levels worth of exp.

imo, you should craft to either jump from 35 to 45, or to jump from 55 to 65.
At 45 you can do Caduceus Manor runs which are stupid good exp.
At 65 you can do Sorrow’s Embrace runs (“SE1”)… while they’re unpopular, you can basically get to 80 doing these.

Speaking of which, if anyone wants to do TA2, SE1, or Honor of the Waves, let me know, ign: etunne

Playing a mesmer now and decided to roll tailor and jeweler.

I think I started the two most expensive professions holy shit.

i went tailor and jeweler on my ele. tailor isnt so bad, and there are a couple things u can make a living off of on the auction house making. but i think jeweler was a waste of my dam time, it is expensive later on and i couldnt find anything that makes a decent profit. i regret going jeweler.

It’s pretty tough to make profit with most professions as it is. You will make way more money as of now by just selling the mats. Once they introduce previewing items on the TP items with cool skins will go for a lot more than they do now (given the proper supply and demand of course, otherwise we just get cooking all over again  ).

I have all the crafting professions spread out across my 5 characters. I’ll eventually level them to 400, might take a year though since I rarely buy the materials and don’t like crafting longer than 15 minutes at a time.

So dungeons scale with your XP now? I’ll do any story and explore paths I haven’t done before but grinding them strictly for XP is not very compelling gameplay to me. Not that I wouldn’t mind some repetition but I’d probably bail after 2 or 3 runs depending on the time investment and how bored I am. Seriously, the only times I ever felt like falling asleep at keyboard was during dungeons. I guess it’s another option for XP after getting 100% exploration besides doing WvW or dynamic events.

After sleeping, I realised you can do all professions on one character, meaning enough EXP for 1-80. I’m an idiot haha

Cooking is draining all my money though…

whats the fastest way to get level 80 swag armor?

im also down to do w/e dungeon, my ign is “Mtsuru” or dddomz.9713

Material prices are absolutely ridiculous right now, grinding in the low level zones still to get enough materials to catch up my crafting so I can finally move on.

@Domino - Karma grinding or CoF explorable mode. Takes like 15-20 mins per run assuming everyone does things right.

dont forget the most obvious of choices, crafting. i thought the lvl80 set you can craft from tailoring is pretty nice.

I’ve only got like 3 or 4 hours into this game so far. I hope the game feels more group oriented later on. Right now it feels like I’m playing along side others as opposed to with others.

I checked WvW once. I was like 3am central time, and it didn’t seem like anyone was even around. My server had 0 points…

You can try structured PvP for group oriented gameplay. Whenever I do WvWvW I just join the biggest group I can find and run with them. Not a whole lot of strategy unless you want to count the occasional team chat that says attack this or defend that. In terms of PvE dungeons is where you’ll be playing in groups most often. Dynamic events you could solo, unless it involves defeating a champion world boss in which case you just shout boss is up near <insert waypoint> and wait a couple minutes for reinforcements to arrive.

damn i was hoping to avoid the zerg in straits of devastation

Played some more scepter/focus in spvp today. Pretty good and good survivability. I feel like I can outlast most people with all the active defenses the elementalist has and the awesome thing is that you can still arcane shield, obsidian flesh, use any cantrip when you get cc ( you need to cleanse if its an immobilize, which I recommend taking at least 10 points into water or using your magnetic wave, though I like that for its reflect properties). A big plus because a lot of people are trying to burst down with 100 blades, HS, Backstab, etc, but you can just go “nope try again” and zone them out again. Also if you never get hit by projectiles by using something like swirling winds or reflecting it back, people like necros can’t stack bleed on you.

The most annoying profession to fight is the mesmer, but it’s more like a battle of attrition since you need to pick them out of their clones and the targeting of this game drives me up the wall sometimes. I can call the target on the real guy but you still need to find them if they stealth but if they are just laying down phantasms you would still keep sight on them. I feel the better person would win though in this matchup because the focus absolutely shuts down ranged options and you need to keep an eye for any debuffs on you. A big plus is that the fire aoe can take out illusions for you.

Yeah mesmers are a freaking pain to fight. As an engineer, they totally shit on me with their clones and stealth.

I don’t have hard hitting moves/aoe to make it any easier either, they are all conditions based which take time to deal damage. :frowning:

IT’S MY DAMAGE AND I WANT IT NOW!

Added a system to limit the experience and gold that players can receive from speed-farming dungeons.

lol

I like how they avoided using “speed run” cause hardly any of these runs are worthy of the term

gonna have to check out exactly how this nerfs SE1 and CoF2

Well, got my mesmer to 37, decided to run ascalon explorer mode for a while. The first 2 runs was good rewards, but as soon as we completed it the third time, it turned to complete shit.
