Be happy this made you lose a shitty game, not a good one
Though the combat is nothing compared to Tera… or even 3rd person action games… I’m enjoying every other aspect of the game thus far… I’m only level 8 lol. The weapon specific skillsets are pretty cool.
It’s sold out at the local EBGames/Gamestop. Good luck.
Hang in there. Else post an angry rant on reddit.
Why so serious? Realtalk. Game is quite different from GW1 but it’s not a complete turd. I’d say if you’ve played some good subscription MMOs, you might be disappointed because it’s not as genre-moving innovative as one may have envisioned. PVP also feels nothing like GW1, which I’m still adjusting to. However I’m PvE mostly, and it’s a much needed upgrade from the very static PvE world in GW1. Anyhow, at least folks aren’t losing time on a sub and can come back in weeks/months and still have their characters and progress intact.
Meh, I’m biased coming from a perspective where ‘buying’ a sub-based game is silly because of time constraints. As Anet supported GW1 for so long without subs… I’m going to support a similar business platform. But eh, if it improves a couple months later, I’ll come back and check it out again should I lose interest at present, which I’m neutral about at the moment.
fuckers might actually make me start a reddit account >_<
Played some more spvp. Scepter/focus ele is actually working out really well for me. I won a lot of 1v1s even against the likes of HS thieves. I take arcane shield, signet of earth, and mist form, so I basically have 3 skills if I ever get jumped. Focus also shuts down range really hard. The signet of earth is also very significant in landing the fire burst combo and if they cleanse it, that means that you can use your other cc on them such as comet for daze or start stacking bleeds.
GGs to BadMojo and Dominos yesterday at Sorrow’s Embrace. It was a long run but it wasn’t that bad overall, just those golems are a total assholes.
The second golem is completely free to projectile reflection, it fucks all three of them up pretty bad from what I remember
Is there a point to selling items with green titles in the 30-40 range or should I just salvage all of them? Also is there anything in rarity past a yellow title?
You should be selling everything Blue and up. Only makes sense to salvage white items atm. Not a lot of net benefit to salvaging higher items also money is hard to come by.
played some WvW on my ele, fucking shit is sooooo much fun. i orginally was only doing it to complete my monthly, but before i knew it i was playing hours afterwards. i loved catching stray people with ride the lightning xx knockdown xx flame attune, dragon’s tooth, lol. also recently started a thief, ive never played a game where leveling my toon felt so fucking fun, i remember in WoW after getting my pally to max level i was bored to death doing it again. not so in this game, shit is fun as fuck.
Yep. The best thing in the world is leveling up when you didn’t even expect it.
Went through Twilight Arbor explorer mode. What a pain in the ass.
I am not too fond of dungeons in this game to say the least. I am only level 67 at the moment but even if you do go in there in a more tanky spec and gear, using control weps and skills you can still get one shot depending on the class and even then the best solution is just to play ranged all day a lot of the time… There’s a huge, huge disparity between regular PvE content and dungeons at the moment. Hell, you don’t even go down that fast in WvWvW .
My biggest gripe with the combat is homing ranged attacks in general (fuck those Elementalists and Rangers in AC), I actually liked fighting ranged classes in TERA even though they had some ungodly fast projectile speeds. Projectile speed is slow as balls here but you can’t side step it regardless a lot of the time so no (player) “skill” in the world is going to prevent you from getting knocked in the back of the head. Player coordination is a must in that regard I suppose but pugging non-explorable mode dungeons is a huge PITA as is even with just 2-3 randoms. This game might not have the holy trinity and doesn’t really require the unholy trinity (control/support/damage) but it sure as hell makes it a ton easier.
I think that TERA did better in that regard. No matter how much shit there is on the screen it is still very easy to tell when you need to move the fuck out of the way because the calls are still very visible and avoiding damage in general was actually the result of using your own reaction time to move out of the way (though generally attacks gave you a bit TOO much time to move out of the way, I suppose that’s to adjust for lag or something?). With all the god damned particle effects on bosses, the addition of their own AoE attacks, combo fields triggering even more shit and having to avoid shit in less time than humanly possible makes melee very frustrating at times and no amount of endurance regeneration is going to solve that so I can actually dodge spam the fuck out of the way.
Active blocking, oh how I miss the active blocking on my Lancer. Staying rooted while attacking and such can eat a dick, just how the rest of the game that isn’t combat can as well .
Hopefully it gets a hell of a lot better when I hit 80 and start running everything with the guild.
i wrote a guide for running dungeons as a warrior which i have reproduced here for your convenience
Step 1: don’t melee, ever.
Step 2: bugging the AI is considered “player skill”
this guide really helped me out
in all seriousness dungeons are so ridiculously anti melee atm, some bosses you literally cannot stand near. today im going to try turbo turtle mode with healing shouts, cleric gear, defensive traits, and a hammer but i have a feeling im going to end up standing in the back with a bow or rifle anyway.
tanking dungeons is doable but there’s usually very little benefit to having a dedicated tank
unless you are playing with glass cannons who can’t dodge
Now that I’m level 80, I’m going glass cannon. I have repair canisters so it’s all good. Will dungeon zerg all day until my Norn is fighting in her bra and panties.
Biggest surprise for me so far is getting an achievement for combo kills with allies. No idea that even existed.
So from what I understand, doing crafting before level 65ish is actually a bad idea? It scales with level?
yeah WvW is so much more enjoyable for leveling than the alternatives. Yesterday i earned 3 levels while we went from controlling nothing in Eternal Battlegrounds to taking back the entire east side over the course of 6 hours. I tried quitting like 5 different times to do somthing productive that day…that didn’t go well haha.
You will get 10 levels from crafting 1-400 regardless of what level you are. The nice thing about this is that if you don’t really care about crafting but still have all the mats and some crafting boosters, you can craft once a month to get the xp gained monthly .
I haven’t had a chance to WvW yet, our server own everything and that hasn’t seemed to have changed much at all.
Kind of dumb to hear that about crafting… I actually wanted to craft but I guess it’s best to save it for those last 10 levels for efficiency.
