I love GW2 not having the holy trinity. It’s one of the main reasons why I even bought the game. I’ve had enough of that when I played FFXI circa 04-05, a game where you wasted a lot of time waiting for the right class to appear so you can finally form a group to level up. What’s worse is if you played a class that wasn’t very attractive, you could literally spend hours standing around with a LFG flag over your head and never get an invite. (I wasn’t that, I was a mage and I formed my owned groups whenever I wanted to level but there were players out there who suffered.)
People are used to the same traditional MMO party structure and combat, Anet is just trying to encourage players to think outside the box by removing the trinity. Is it working? Well so far a lot of dynamic events are zerg fests with little to no strategy involved, but we’ll see how that changes after the population spreads out across more zones. One thing I’d like to see Anet add is a marker that lets everyone know who currently has aggro.
In the end however, I’ll take slapping together a pick up group in five minutes over wasting hours of time trying to build a balanced group of classes. Plus, there’s no guarantee the player you were waiting for is even any good at their role.
I heard about the guest system and found out it’s not in yet on release. Yesterday I was trying to join Ken34 but there is no option to join in like it says there would be. It seems to get around it right now, people need to join overflow servers to play with friends on other servers.
That’s strange. Did you get a ‘change email’ message? As long as you keep your proof of purchases, email Anet to get it back.
And for the love of the powers that be… change your email and choose a password that isn’t brute-forceable.
Sorry to hear that.
Just a heads up (it’s kind of obvious and kind of not), but for password security it’s actually not the best idea to do something like add random characters or use numbers instead like numb3rs. It makes it harder for a person to remember and is actually not that much harder to crack. The best kind of password that you can remember and is actually harder to bruteforce is to combine words.
Like horsefishdog is harder to crack then 6M43H1NE and easier to remember.
Feels like its going to take a while with how much bullshit I need for leather working.
I totally regret not taking the fucking monocle or goggles when making my engineer. Stuck with the bag that doesn’t even matter because you see yourself with one with every kit.
I’m down for dungeon raids with you guys whenever I’m on, I’m on Sanctum of Rall server though. Let me find out what my game name is.
Who has beaten Lt. Kholer in AC Explore? Fuck that guy.
Edit: Decided to skip AC Explore and did CM story + one of the exploration paths. Holy fuck at these explore modes. I’d say they’re the hardest part of GW2.
Edit 2: IGN is MacBauer.2159. Add me ex-Diablo 3 players! I didn’t play with any of you in D3 because the game has always online DRM (multiplayer purposes obviously) but at the same time punished players for grouping. LOL Blizzard.
If anyone here plays a Warrior…
Greatsword/Longbow or go home.
I was using Greasword/Rifle and I didn’t take my combos into consideration… BAD, BAD idea (not like I needed to since GS warrior with signet build is pretty much the faceroll class for PvE). If your class can combo by itself, make sure you know your combos.
Rifle is still excellent burst damage though and if you prefer that then go for it.
Have at least 1 bar of adrenaline so you can use Combustive Shot (you can use the precision signet to gain 3 bars of adrenaline but I wouldn’t recommend it). You don’t have to hit a target if you don’t want to, you just want to make sure you’re inside the Combustive Shot’s Combo Field.
Use Arcing Arrow inside the Combustive Shot’s Combo Field (be sure to stand inside of it!). Enjoy your AoE might for 3 stacks. You can do this a 2nd time while the duration of the original might is still active for 6 might, and finish it off with signet of rage activation for 11 might, it drops down to 8 fairly quickly so I’d just do it once and just stick with 8 stacks of might.
Activate signet of fury to get your full bonus from Heightened Focus and Berserker’s Power.
DAMAGE.
If this class gets a PvE damage nerf-hammer I wouldn’t be surprised at all.
when you are coming up with warrior combos, don’t forget about banners (and other utility skills).
the banners themselves are a huge buff. strength is basically a permanent 3 might as long as you stay on it. precision gives you 10% crit damage on top of the precision, and precision’s 2 is a fury aoe buff. if you’re specced into tactics they can also provide regeneration, if specced into strength they do alright damage with powerful banners.
not only are they really good,
when any banner is summoned, it does a blast combo ender.
when any banner is being wielded, 5 is also a blast combo ender.
defence banner’s 2 is a whirl combo ender.
longbow F1, 3, banner, F, 5. 9 stacks of might.
once all your banners are already down, longbow F1, 3, F, 5, switch, axe 2/shield 4/hammer 4/etc.
of course once you start using banners in your combos you will get super pissed whenever someone moves your banners or picks them up and does that stupid “uhh wtf do i do with this” that everyone does
bull’s charge, on top of being 100% badass, is also a leap ender
stomp is a blast ender but it’s still pretty meh, it has uses but not big on the long CD + how it disrupts allies.
gs/gun isnt that bad, the gun is just there for when you need good single target dps but cant afford to get close. the combo ability of longbow is definitely useful in group content though.
i wish i could use a 1 handed sword for something, but i really can’t think of a reason to use it over anything else
GGs BadMojo. Destiny’s Edge are a bunch of frauds. When they follow you they are ass and aggro things you don’t want but when you fight them they 2 shot you. No wonder they are a disbanded 6 man guild.
Yeah, Twilight Arbor’s story was a much greater challenge than CM (which you can grind all day for coin and xp) but I’d still rank it below the Catacombs in initial difficulty. I think outside of the last fight knowing which nightmare court minion to focus fire first, having skills that prevent fear and employing the proper strategy to defeat that necromancer boss (circle strafe) subsequent story mode runs should be easier.
