can you do a guide about how to render the video once you have it on your PC to upload to youtube later?
i wouldnt try it, i think it will definately lag since the color space on component and hdmi are not the same. however the same setup with an xbox360 running hdmi throughout will not lag as long as you dont convert the feed.
I haven’t lag tested it but there was less lag being shown on the monitor than in the video preview on my virtualdub. So it might be acceptable, probably worth running a few RB2 tests and see how that setup works.
I use the Easycap which is awsome. It records standard but matches equally to all standard recording devices for the pc. Best part is that its about $15.00
So here’s a follow up, i’ve now gotten the above, and the setup i have is like this:

Good news is, the unit from jay car allows the ps3 hdcp content to be played from HDMI to Component, so it works in that regard, here’s the bad news, see below (i’m hoping, its just the batch that i have, i’m still awaiting feedback and results from Jaycar).
Look what happens to the frame when it goes through the hdmi to component converter, it moves the frame about 100 pixels(?) to the left.

The intial theory I had worked, I’m just pissed that the image is shifted to the left, it even records that way.
I told my mate who works at jaycar that this shouldn’t be tolerated and i hope they can find the bad batch and recall them, i asked him “surely these unit’s have sold before and someone would have complained if the image shifted that much, or am i just really anal?”
He said he’ll get it investigated, so until then, i have an image shift problem, so i’m not bothering at the moment.
Btw, it happens on any source that’s hdmi, it happened with the ps3, 360 and dvd player
Still only XBOX recording for me
I finally got around to doing some RB2 tests on the set up that I described above.
Prior to the test I had averaged about 30ms of lag on my screen.
Upon successfully completing the test I got results of around 30ms. So basically the video thru on the intensity pro doesn’t appear to add any additional lag.
here is how I do it.
- record with arcsoft, 6mb/sec, mp4 format, ac3 audio
- compress/resize with “winavi mp4 converter” to mp4 file, 960x544, 30fps, 2mb bitrate(lower BR doesnt make the file size any smaller), highest audio
its quick, filesize is reasonable(10 min video is around 150-200mb), and looks good on youtube.

or

thank you dn3000, i have tried to record with Fraps, in offline trainingmodus is ok but it works in games not really well ^^. anyways thank you ^^
Just a quick question, maybe you guys can help. Thumbed through the first post and everything, and I was wondering what would be the cheapest option to recording my matches in HD?
Thanks for any and all help.
right now i just use my cam to record matches. soon ima buy a capture card and some more memory and space
Same here, but I’m tired of the terrible quality, lol. Camera is like 4 years old, I’ll bet. XD
^ this is my situation as of now i have a 360 and a PS2 with a 27in. tv with component cables and i also want to use a split it like i did when i used a S-Video and the Adaptec Gamebridge
Fraps rapes the FPS like hell. I’m looking for a program that doesn’t suck myself.
Been thinking about a recording/stream set-up. anyone have any experience with this component?

Was planning on splitting the HDMI signal on the 360 with a powered spitter from monoprice (1x4) and using this for the capture end.
was gonna do a quick buy on newegg but i wanted to check with srk first!
^ according to youtube clips that thing is pretty good. it doesnt record hdcp protected stuff(movies or whatever wouldnt worry about games). I dunno if hdmi splitter would cause any additional lag. you should give it a try and report back.
Newegg sent me an emailtoday about their specials this week and apparently on THURSDAY the DVD Maker Pro (as linked earlier in thread) on sale.
no price yet as it’ll be revealed on thursday but it might be somewhere near 30% off
For the BlackMagic owners on a MAC:
What is your workflow like?
I just sold my Hauppauge and am thinking about getting a BM card but wanted how you got everything set up.
I was thinking of
XBOX360 > MAC via HDMI > capture in Final Cut Pro (if possible) > and output via HDMI to my TV
PS3 > MAC via component > capture in Final Cut Pro (if possible) > and output via component to my TV
Would there be any lag on the HDMI output to TV?
Any lag on the component out?
I am guessing that there will be some lag in the preview window while capturing but hoping that I can still play lag free on the output. I don’t want to totally regret selling my Hauppauge lol.
