Guide: How to STFU about Super Street Fighter 4

I love this article, first saw it on Digg.com and laughed my ass off.

It’s not different then when Capcon released a new Street Fighter II arcade for almost every year. Just that this time it’s on a disc, and it’s cheaper then the original game.

The original was first day purchase for me, after my experience, SSFIV is going to be a definite pre-order.

I love how this got a sticky.

Well it should be good news to you then that Ono has been quoted as saying the game will not be sold a full price, and that if you hold on to your original SF4 disc theres a “special bonus”… whatever that means!

But I definately do feel for you with regards to the PC version of the game. I hadn’t thought about that.

oh and thank you for having such a badass youtube channel.

Amazing article and it was worth being stickied. Fleshlight…LOL!

People say that getting alternate costumes would be too good of a bonus. Well how about extra stages? Like a couple of classic remade stages from SF II. That could be possible. I mean it’s nothing big and it isn’t really important but some people will appreciate it. Why not. Extra colors would work too. They’re not costumes so it’d be a really small extra.

Yeah for sure, i hope Ono puts it at a reasonable price and that the bonus is something i can be happy that i bought the game now. If Capcom is putting in so much extra effort into making SSFIV better than SFIV that DLC wont cut it, then i would definitely support them.

I also hope that the PC version would come out sooner too, I was sad when the game came out around Feb then found out i had to wait longer while everyone else got to play. :frowning:

Speaking of which…is the game announced for PC too? I hadn’t heard of it when i last looked around the boards…

Thanks for the compliment btw

Victormaru - I do think that the old alternate costumes should transfer to the new game though if you bought them. I don’t know about stages since if you play Online how would they work out?

I see no issue with it being a box title, I probably spent less money this year on games because most of my play time went to leveling up in this (and other FGs), instead of buying/renting a new game every month.

As for free DLC? That’s bullshit, the entire game will be changed, that with the addition of new characters makes it totally worth the (less than normal) retail price.

Some people are just so fucking cheap.

lol so people were doing the l4d2 style boycott of ssf4? lol

Game is dope and both games will address the major flaws with it so I say pay if u want the update or be happy with sf4.

lmao.

1.) You don’t know what exactly is on the disc, so you can’t judge its price. However, it definitely will include this: 8 characters, new stages/music/gameplay features and the game being rebalanced. That’s imo worth more than 20 bucks. Not to mention it’d be simply TOO BIG for DLC. And let’s not get started with compatibility issues.
2.) You don’t know how much they will charge. Ono said that they intend on charging the money of an online game, so I’d more expect it going towards 25-30$ than anything else.
(Even if it wouldn’t be in that price class, I’d still pay the 60$ for a full game, considering I got the Collector’s Edition for only 30$, heh.)

So please, read that Destructoid article in the OP and refer to Step 1 of it.

If they’re on the disc but locked for people who don’t have SFIV, it would work out easily. Though people who only own SSFIV should get the ability to unlock that stuff too.

If you’re into fighting games SSF4 is pretty much a must buy. (So is the Fleshlight, but that’s a topic for another thread entirely.)

Get hype people, this is going to be great. In time for EVO 2010? Let’s hope so!

just for reference:

SF II World Warrior: Released March, 1991
SF II Championship Edition: Released April, 1992
SF II Hyper Fighting: Released December, 1992 (not even a one year difference from CE!)
Super Street Fighter II: Released October 1993 (less than a year.)
Super Street Fighter II Turbo: Released March of 1994 (Again less than a year difference.)

Awesome. I 100% agree with this article.

Very nice article.

My only regret is that it didn’t come out sooner, back when LaSwagga made that one video about Capcom “milking his pockets” and whining about SRK.

As far as milking goes the only time I’d say that is when they barely add anything for a game. But this IS A MASSIVE ASS UPDATE. So it’s worth it, chu know’?

Plus it’s hella cheap.

Only thing I’m pissed off about is that I said I wasn’t buying anymore games. Fuck…oh well. MW2 this year and SSF4 for next year wont be bad.

Great Article. Topher is awesome.

I actually far prefer getting on a separate disc.

what is interesting to me is that people who are complaining that vanilla 4 was an “expensive lonterm beta”, when in fact thats how most games are if you truly look at it. Madden games are all improved and updated a year later. pay 2 play MMO’s get updates and expansions that cost more than we are paying for ssf4. shooters like halo have been getting released in close intervals for a long time now. Sometimes its almost idiocy that people would get up in arms about a fighting game getting a rebalance and new content.

however, those people can go back to halo for all i care just means we all get access to better comp without weeding through point farmers or whatever and ppl who think they can be MLG at street fighter.

In the United States, the prices of games have hovered around 40-60 bucks since nes 8 bit days. The american dollar has lost tons of ground since them. I could go to the BLS to find the exact data but it’s not worth my time, really. If you really don’t understand the concept of inflation, or are suggesting inflation has not happened, I’d be happy to explain, but I’m going to assume you aren’t a moron.

I think the people whining are people who have to try to convince their mommies to buy the game for them. “You just got a new street fight game, junior!” “but mommmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm… fucking capcom zombies…”

For anyone with a paper route+, fifty or sixty, possibly even fewer, dollars is not much to pay for this sort of thing… If you care enough to be posting on the internet about a game, you obviously care enough about the game to pay for a sequel/expansion for it. So go mow some lawns for two weeks and get the money, you wimpering pussies!

I remember people saying the same things for CE, Turbo, Super etc. Most of those people complaining will buy the game anyway, IF they like fighting games.
