Guardians of the Galaxy film, updates

First class has less replay value then x2 (i do, and would watch x2 over first class anyday), the wolverine has no replay value at all (women are atrocious, wolvie is wolvie, and silver samurai is okay, but sucks because he could easily have been 10 times better), but isnt bad, and dofp is dope.

They have made more then their budget, but compared to the major marvel movies under marvel, fox marvel movies havent made anywhere near the bread of marvel marvel movies. Thats mostly because fox marvel movies all have zero replay value. ZERO. The new fantastic four will also suck. I just found out who else was in it besides the black guy, and holy shit, they casted that broad from house of cards in it, ugh, i cant stand her, and im sure she will be ultra cunty in this movie too, like she is in every role. No one gives a fuck about f4 anymore, and especially with no awesome bad guys to face. Unless f4 has skrulls, or dr doom with magic and tech skills, whats the point, who cares, especially with those gross choice of actors. UGH, BARF.

The next spiderman movie will not do well, and wont come out anytime soon. BET IT! The streets are gonna flood with dope comic movies, and we tried again with amazing spiderman 2 featuring big nose jamie foxx as electro, and it was no better then the first one, if not arguably worse. Why bother at this point. Clearly you cannot do shit with spiderman, even though you should be able to. I wont go see amazing spiderman 3. There is pretty much nothing they can do at this point short of 180ing a lot of their bullshit, to get me back in the seats again. Especially not after gotg rose the bar so high, and age of ultron to follow it next year, along with bvs trailers, ant man, and other shenanigans.

Fox might as well sell their rights at this point. Its not that fucking hard to write a script about characters with decades of material under them, throw money at it, and make something happen. When you cannot do that. When you are so incompetent (not that marvel movies under marvel havent fucked this up too. fox is just worse) that you cannot just throw money at a comic book character with like half a century of material under it, and make a good movie, then you just need to stop.

Fox should do a random team up movie of cable and wolverine. Make it rated r, go out of their way to get actors that fit the character the best, even if they have to pump them (cable) full of protein and military training like henry cavil (man of steel) just to make it happen. I loathe fox marvel movies, and they have taken my dollars at the theater, because im a fan, and 8 bucks for a ticket wont kill anything but my spirit after i sit through a bad comic book movie, or at boring one.

probably have more to say, but fuc it, other shit to do now

This is definitely the most fun movie I’ve had in a while. I don’t normally like watching shows in a crowded cinema but GotG really benefits from it. There was applause at many of the big gags.

[details=Spoiler]- Why Rocket needed the leg

  • Drax as he poses after calling Ronan
  • Quill justifying how heroic he is after rescuing Gamora
  • “Star Lord!” Another one came quickly after with Groot owning all mooks.
  • And of course, the final battle, as well as all the subsequent closeups.[/details]

Extremely satisfied. Not sure if it’s the “best” Marvel movie but it’s probably my favourite. So lovable.

Guardians of the Galaxy was great, after watching it and the space scenes I was left with one sad reality. Guardians was a better star wars movie than any of the prequels!

EMH-esque Doom or bust.

Context: Why did he kidnap Sue and Wasp?

[details=Spoiler]Vic was looking for Skrulls.
He found them.

Damn right.

Nowhere, and what appeared to be Exitar the Executioner(!!) had me hype as fuck.
YO MARVELLL

Look how he was in the movie.
Your size may vary; quite literally!

The best part of that was that Yondu looks like he more or less knew it was coming, and took it relatively well.
Star-Lord must get his goose fairly often LOL.

Speaking of trolling, every incident of that in the movie was next-level; me and my dad lost it in particular at
Rocket asking for random things for his plans.
“Oh, you actually got the leg? HAH”

Also regarding Rocket, Groot and Rocket definitely stole the spotlight, Vin Diesel did it damn well.
Me and my father had so much fun with “I am GROOT” that it was a running gag, that shit was great.
Another thing when Groot got the battery from the prison in the background of that one scene, and literally NOBODY was watching him do it, and then Rocket just sighs?

On another note, “WE are Groot.”

[details=Spoiler]Flowerpot!Groot has me giddy as a fan of the more obscure aspects of Marvel.
Also, he’s adorable. He looks like a Sackboy from LittleBigPlanet. LOL

10/10 free. Marvel is fucking GODLIKE at world-building.

Avengers 3 prequel lol

It was flawless for Drax, is what people mean; this was EXACTLY how most people would think of him in live-action.
Batista did him right is the general idea. Drax is supposed to be hammy and ridiculously awkward socially (not that he is bothered by that, he’s Drax the Destroyer, he doesn’t care for appearances!) and Batista took that to some next-level shit.

The reflexes/metaphor scene was even better than I could’ve hoped. Gamora and Rocket’s(and even Star-Lord got into that one a bit!)expressions killed me several times over. She didn’t even roll her eyes at that one; channeled Tommy Lee Jones a bit there. The

though.

Too good.

To be fair, they DID buy the Guardians the time they desperately needed to make the W happen.

That wrote itself.

I’m just wondering if Adam warlock will be making a appearance…I mean he did wield the gauntlet after all so he’s vital to the space opera aspect of marvel.

Just want to quickly say, that only the main characters weren’t watching. In the background you can see other people checking it out, including what looks to be Drax blurred out. I lost it when he turns towards the main characters with “…are you guys not seeing this?” body language.

Yeah draxtista was all “look at this shit”

Adam Warlock needs to show up soon

Would have loved to have seen the cacoon open up

Nothing goes over his head.

His reflexes are too fast.

Don’t forget NOT WATCHING the Fantastic Four reboot movie so maybe it bombs and Fantastic Four will be sold back to Marvel Studios:

https://www.facebook.com/F4MCU

I want Fantastic Four in the MCU. #F4MCU #F4back2Marvel

Hence why I didn’t watch any spiderman reboots.

Marvel held a special private screening of GotG for Rocket Raccoon co-createor Bill Mantlo.

For those who don’t know, Bill suffered a brain injury back in 1992 and he’s been in full time care ever since.

Got me right there…

I hope they include the translation on the blue-ray.

Yeah, I remember. That was great.

…I guess nothing really DOES get past him.

James Gunn writes an open letter for everyone…

[details=Spoiler]Thanks to all of you who saw (and are seeing) Guardians of the Galaxy this weekend, from the bottom of my heart. The Guardians are a group of oddballs, outcasts, and geeks. The movie is for anyone who ever felt cast aside, left out, or different. It’s for all of us who don’t belong. This movie belongs to you. And, today, I think we’re doing okay.

I am of course happy with all the film has accomplished box-office-wise. But what touches me the most is that the film I told the folks at Marvel I wanted to make two years ago is the film that you’re seeing in theaters today - it’s that so many of you seem to be directly EXPERIENCING the film I INTENDED. The cast, the producers, the crew, and I felt like we were making something special while we were making it. But it is very rare that a director’s INTENTIONS in creating a film, or a scene, or a character, or a line of dialogue are, seemingly, specifically what is experienced by an audience (not to mention critics!), and that seems to be what has happened here. You have allowed a talking raccoon - for a moment, a minute, or a day - to make you a little more human. And for that, I am profoundly grateful.

If I relied on myself to implement these intentions, the film would be a shambling mess. But instead, I had a wonderful cast, genius producers, an incredibly brave studio, sublimely talented visual effects artists, great editors, and the best damn crew of mostly-British b@stards to actually implement these intentions for me. Where I had a good idea they would, through alchemy, transform it into a great one. Many of you involved are friends of mine on Facebook. Many of you will read this somewhere else. I love you all.

You may remember me posting here a couple weeks ago how sad I was to be finishing up the film, that I was having trouble letting go of Rocket, and that I was going to miss him. But seeing him (and Groot, and the rest of the team) embraced by the world like they have been, to be UNDERSTOOD, makes it a wonderful letting go. It’s like giving a foster pet up for adoption to the most wonderful parents in the world.

And, of course, I’m not really saying goodbye as, while many of you have been enjoying the film, I’ve spent this weekend hard at work on the sequel. I couldn’t help myself! The results are nice but it’s really the creative process I love and that keeps me going. I’m on fire with this thing! The Guardians have so many hardships and heartaches and triumphs ahead of them, and I can’t wait to share them with all of you.

Onto week two…

Love, James

Guardians made $94 Million on it’s opening weekend. That’s one mil below The Winter Soldier’s opening.
http://boxofficemojo.com/news/?id=3885&p=.htm

It mentions that film drew a huge female crowd with 44% of the audience being women.

Han Solo + Captain Kirk = Star Lord
Of course he’s going to get the ladies.

What gets me real excited though? This movie was ‘full gamble’, director got to make what he wanted and it was gamble franchise wise. So this + Ant Man will hopefully pave the way for some of the other Marvel franchises to get a shot. And I’m thinking beyond Black Panther here.
