Because he’s still the half human son of an alien who, while unnamed in the film, is probably still J’son of Spartax.
Besides, the most important bit of background for the modern version of Quill (and indeed of the modern Guardians) was the whole prison bit. Even before Annihilation, Peter was incarcerated in the Kyln. And he’s in prison again at the start of Annihilation: Conquest when he’s put together with folks who will later be part of the Guardians (Rocket, Groot, Mantis, Bug).
it doesnt sound like his family is some ancient race though. being that their are 3 main races in the marvel cosmic universe kree, shi’ar and skrull. it just seems weird wording to call his race ancient.
Because for all we know, the Spartoi are an ancient race in the the MCU, especially since they are known to be very long lived (J’son is a hundred years old and isn’t even considered “middle aged”).
well wiking them, it seems like they arent. they are next door to the shi’ar empire. they may be old…but some lost ancient race nahhh. unless the mcu is super young and havent discovered the shi’ar yet.
Saw it last night, not the greatest Marvel movie but easily the most funniest and probably top 5 among Marvel movies, which means yeah easily one of the best movies of the year.
Cooper as Rocket wasn’t horrible but Groot was the true scene stealer, if what I hear about Diesel doing the motion capture for the character is true, it was his best role in a long while.
The only flaws I could say is that the Nova Corps were semi useless fodder, if you like the original Yondu you probably won’t care to much for the one in this movie, but it was still a great performance/role IMO and unless you are a hardcore fan of Marvel’s of the highest order you probably don’t need to stick around for the last after credit scene. If you are hardcore and know a little something do so although it isn’t likely to have a big connection to the Avengers set of Marvel films.
I thought it was dope. Cast had great chemistry too. I was also impressed with Batista…he was hilarious. Probably the funniest and most fun Marvel movie to date. My body is ready for 2 in two years.
Now its time for Avengers 2!!
Also Brolin Thanos was dope too.
Edit: anyone else wants to stroke Karen Gillian in her Nebula makeup?? I know i do
As a stand alone movie? Yea…it is. Pretty easily too. If were not counting Avengers idk see hows its even debatable unless youre one of those Ironman or Thor slurppers.
Can you honestly say the Ironman movies and Thors and the Marvel Hulk are better than Winter Soldier??
I saw this last night, and during the credits there was a roll called “On-Stage Groot” and it didn’t have Diesel’s name next to it. I think it was a female name, but I could have been mistaken. No idea if that really means Vin didn’t do the mo-cap, but it’s worth thinking about lol.
Also agree that it may not be the best Marvel movie ever but it’s definitely the funniest and is close to the top if not the best. I honestly went into this with a bad gut feeling and not expecting much, but I was constantly proved wrong and just had an awesome time.
The theater was packed and the audience was laughing at all the jokes, such a good atmosphere. I get bad migraines from loud noises and don’t see movies often, but I took a hand-full of Excedrin and it was totally worth it.
