GUARDIAN HEROES HD Remastered possible tournaments at EVO and other events?

I agree, I ran through several 12 player matches today and they were all ass, not just cause of lag but the fact that it’s a bomb spam fest. I’d imagine it’s fun if you and 11 other people are hammered or something. Making it a 6 on 6 is a little better as at least you’re only fighting 6 other people.

12 player nicole match needs to be filmed. in case no one wants to backtrack thru the thread, do her barrier spell (d, d + spell) and cancel it with block, block. tell me the results.

I’m loving remix mode…ALOT

kinda irritating having to remap the button layout for remix mode… been so used to playing the old saturn default layout, playing any other way just seems weird for me(even though the new remix commands seem well adapted to a more ABC guard fighting game layout.) it’s gonna be a bit challenging adapting the old layout to work in remix without over compromising what i’m used to. everything woulda worked out perfectly if you could still backstep the old way.

unfortunately i haven’t had a chance to play this long enough to test that out so somebody test it, i’m curious as well… although i’m more interested in hard 1ccing this offline atm, as that’s how i prefer to enjoy bmups. i really hope there’s an option to disable, or at least limit, continues. afterward i hope to see you guys at vs!

is block, block even sidestep in remix mode? ive seen her played in original and it seems identical except for maybe higher starting hp or damage nerfs on baddies.

(Block, Block) is still sidestep.

Are you referring to the fact that the sidestep cancels the barrier? I don’t see any other benefits other than canceling early. That is also in Remix mode.

A shame there doesn’t seem to be any youtube vids of the mario kart tournament.
So how is the game anyway?

barrier does hard blowback and dizzies often. if the enemy isnt cornered you only get one quick flurry of hits, so cancelling lets you chase into more otg barriers into cornered barrier death.

In Remix mode. At level 1, Barrier seems to dizzy almost every time (if not every time) against another level 1 character.

it hits multi plane at mid intelligence. so great shes still nicole tier.

Threw a party of sorts for the release tonight. I really enjoy remix. It has the potential to be much deeper than the original game.

Unfortunately, a lot of moves have been given specific buttons. I had to find an 8 button layout on my HRAP as opposed to the original game’s 6. Gone is the intuitive guard + weak attack to back dash. Nope, backdash needs its own button now scratches head. I think that with some work I can drop the extra two buttons. The spell button is pointless now. The heavy attack button is used in combination with the fighting game style motions to cast spells now. So the spell button can be dropped. Command can be dropped when playing VS battles, too. You could work what you have left back into a reliable 6 button layout.

The addition of the third attack is interesting. It’s really just existing moves mapped to a button for instant use. Example: Randy’s forward C is now a single button heavy attack that can be used on the ground or in the air to smack people back to earth.

Air dashing is FUCKING AWESOME. Totally changes air combat. Being able to dive into someone with Randy’s bicycle kick or evade at the top of Nichole’s DP is butter. I wish this had been in the original.

The biggest change in Remix is the way health and magic is handled. In the setups we used magic went fast. Like Art of Fighting fast. Gone are the DBZ projectile spamming wars of the original. Health goes quickly too. It feels more like an actual fighting game. You really have to work the new tools into play. I found that I was no longer very good with Randy (my main) and that Genjuro suited my play style much better. I still don’t really understand the guard push techniques. Maybe it was my button layout.

And yes, Nichole is still the best from now. Probably more so now with the new health and magic adjustments.

woah what is the new button layout exactly? backstep is pretty useless, but if command is the single plane jump thats important. so 1 button specials and command spells? i cant wait for the constant accidental fireballs from any crouching attacks to heavies (han, ser, gen). and its one button launchers and ground slams? how many air actions? can you do dp, air command stomp, air normal, air dash, repeat, ground slam?

There’s a limit to how many air actions you get, but I’m not sure what it is.

Pushblock = guard + medium (20 MP)
Burst = guard + heavy (60 MP)

As far as button layout goes, here’s the stuff you don’t need:

  • magic: You can just use alternate inputs.
  • row shift closer & row shift away: You can use the one-button Row Shift command (Y in original game) to do all of this. Pressing the button by itself cycles through planes in one direction, and pressing it while holding down on the d-pad cycles the other way.

Which leaves:

  • light
  • medium
  • heavy
  • guard
  • row shift
  • backstep
  • command (only used in story mode)

In remix, they remove Han’s toward+light attack. I wonder if anyone else lost normals.

Air-dash has start-up, which makes it too slow to use in a combo.

Everyone has 100 MP in Remix. It doesn’t seem to go any higher, regardless of stats.

oh so you can use the old magic button and old backstep is now pushblock. well thats not so bad. id even consider keeping the old magic button if i didnt have to train myself to not do accidental spell commands. so are all the spell commands changed so they dont match certain specials? can original style play in remix rooms?

Specials are mapped to light and medium. Magic is mapped to heavy. I don’t think there’s any overlap.

I don’t think Original and Remix can play together.

IIRC, the help menu said that boosting the mental stat either lowers the cost of specials or improves the regen rate in remix mode. EDIT: No, doesn’t seem to be the case. Dunno where I heard this.

Specials are done with Light and Medium. Magic is done with Heavy. You shouldn’t accidentally get Magic.

fireball is still d,f C tho right? so if im crouch jabbing a crowd from db and i wanna go into serenas f C i wont get fireball?

is mp a percentage now? see how many big spells you can do on one bar at diff levels. specials take meter?

There aren’t directional attacks now. So you wouldn’t need to f+C. It would just be C.

I think spells cost a set amount.

so the medium attacks are the old neutral Cs and the heavy ones are f Cs? my poor muscle memory. its still mad at me for mvc3.

still seems risky tho since id have to make sure to only turn around to df, neutral C .
