Group Photo Ops- The Frank West Team Building Thread

Here’s a tip for anyone using Frank/Nemesis:
When you want to take pics during their THC, do it right after Nemesis jumps but before he lands on the opponent. This causes the opponent to bounce up, giving you a chance to take another pic. Very useful if you don’t want to drink mid THC.

Definitely Frank will need an AAA and a projectile/beam assist of sorts to be more powerful character. Any other general assists types that may help Frank’s overall game? I know there will be some specific ones for combo extending, but I’ll dissect those later.

I guess that Mystic Ray could work as an AAA, and Dark Hole is always useful for mixups.

You think he’ll need an OTG assist or that his Axe will do just fine?

Current team is Frank/Hawkeye/ChunLi, ChunLi on kicks helps Frank OTG relaunch and Frank builds meter for Hawkeye.

Frank does have some options for OTGs at later levels so I don’t think it’s really necessary.

frank/chun is definetly good, easy lv4 on most stages from anywhere with no meter. chun kicks assist for obvious reasons, and franks shopping cart assist helps chun combo with her new otg and is also great for mix ups with chuns great IAD.

I am actually messing around with the combo of Frank West and Rocket Raccoon. Currently I am deciding what would be worth it to run Frank on point or RR. With the goal of using either TAC or THC to get Frank up to higher level with RR’s Rock n’ Roll. The TAC idea being that RR seems to be able to open people up a little better, so I could use a good BnB and TAC to Frank for the L Tools of Survival, j.M etc. into j.S camera shot.

Current anchor thoughts are Sentinel or Doctor Doom.

I heavily discourage relying on the TAC to get level ups. It’s just that… there are less riskier ways of getting it done.

There’s a 33% chance of failure. Failure means no level up, opponent’s character is still alive, and level up combos need to be shorter so that Frank doesn’t kill before the Snapshot. I feel that that’s a pretty big deal.

Seriously considering Frank/Dante/Vergil.

I’m trying to make captain, frank, hawkeye work right now. Problem is that hawkeyes assists aren’t the greatest for helping frank out(hard to assist, otg, launch), and neither is the fact that his supers don’t have many hits. But I like the sort of team constructed around slides and rolls feeling, and I think hawkeye makes a pretty good anchor with his omnidirectional super punish. Obviously you get a pretty good mixup with using horizontal arrows and cartwheel, roll. Any thoughts are appreciated. Ryu looks to be pretty solid with him though IMO. Either tatsu or hadoken assist

Been practicing with Frank/Dormammu/Sentinel a lot today. I think Dorm’s Dark Hole assist is a good substitute for Jam Session just in case you don’t particularly like using Dante. Drones can cover him while he’s moving in and will help his left/right game tremendously. Dark Hole is the combo extender and such.

Right now, my team is Frank, Rocket Raccoon, and Shuma-Gorath. I found that Frank can get to level 3 with Shuma’s Mystic Ray assist if the enemy is near the corner. Since Mystic Ray doesn’t come out quite fast enough, Frank can use his axe otg to connect Shuma’s laser. It’s possible to otg with his camera into Shuma’s laser, but the timing is REALLY tight.

From level 3, it’s easy to get to 4 with no assists. At least, in the corner it is.

I’m sure this is great news for you Shuma players. All 3 of you.

I’ve been thinking about Frank teams, However what puts me off is that you have to play him on point at lvl 1 to to get lots of levels fast. Has anyone found any solid DHC options other characters have that can lead frank in to an easy snapshot? So far all I have found is Okami Shuffle DHC:

This could possably be expanded upon, but just having frank at lvl 3 is enough for me to get started as now I have his third super and the roll.

So I’ve been running Frank(cart)/Vergil(dash slice thing)/Strange(Agamatto) and have had promising results. I have a lot more options than I originally though, but the basic thing is that I use Vergil to extend combos, mix up opponents and to keep people away from Frank, and using Strange to extend combos, protect frank, and mix up.

This type up is pretty TL;DR, so only read it if you’re interested in using Vergil or Strange as assists.

Often I find myself doing the basic air combo into ground, and depending if I’m in a corner or not, affects my combo, but still leaves me with good options. For example, if I manage to land a hit with Frank and get into a basic combo, and land in the corner, I can use snap a shot at the same time as having my vergil assist slash to extend the combo and give me a nice relaunch, once landing again and being in the corner, I use Strange’s assist to extend the combo and to get another few shots off. If done right, I can get to level 4 very easily. Also since the assist pops them up, it’s quite easy to get them in the servbot super or to jump up, grab, snap shot into weapon X super.

However if I don’t land in the corner, I can still snap the shot and use vergil to keep the opponent far away from frank. However, if done with this, Frank is still level 2, but is much faster thanks to his roll move. So at this point, I use frank quickly to roll, dash, and occasionally summoning vergil and doing normals/overheads to get a hit in. So even in lvl 2, I’d say Frank and vergil can work well. The other option for if I don’t land in the corner and have at least two meters is a THC with Vergil and Frank, and to take a picture at the end of Vergil’s super for a quick level up.

Also, once at at level 2, mixups with frank are a hell of a lot easier. A favorite of mine is when frank snaps out or KOs an opponent, and their next team member comes in, to have Dr. Strange set up eye of agamatto, and then once the opponent appears, to quickly roll two times, depending on the timing, they’ll get hit by the eye, or be stuck in a long block string. Also, if dealing with an opponent who keeps rushing down, I often try to get them with frank’s bat for a wall bounce to send them flying, then have strange use eye and put frank near it, so opponents are more limited to what they can do. Also a bonus to this is frank can summon zombies and be covered by eye.

Anyways, that’s what I’ve found so far, so hopefully, that’ll give you an idea of how to run Frank alongside Vergil and/or Strange. I’m still looking for more possibilities with this team, so if you guys have any suggestions, they’re more than welcome.

Actually, if you do a THC with two bars, you probably could get to level five using Vergil. Since his Dimension Slash hyper leaves the opponent in a hard knockdown state, you should be able to follow up with a photo.

I mentioned that near the end of the second paragraph. Although, I don’t think you could really get to level 5 with vergil, but it’s pretty possible, maybe having Frank Drink will increase the chances of it. Anyways, the thing with THC with Vergil is how far will the cart drag the opponent, and how many hits will Dimension Slash do and how low to the ground will the opponent be at the end. There’s a lot of variables, but it’s possible.

That is a really good point.

I have just now begun to realize the power of Frank West, and have just started messing around with a Frank/Task/Nemesis team. With the amount of time it takes to build 2 meters, Taskmaster seems to be working nicely to get to level 3/4. I’m sure others can get XP faster with other teams (like those that involve Dante), but I seem to use Taskmaster more effectively than Dante, so that seems to be working for me so far.

I’m thinking about pairing Frank with Dormammu and Chun when I get the game.

I’m going to run Frank on point, but should Dorm or Chun be the anchor? I’ve heard good things about XF3 Chun, but Dorm just seems to be far more solid.
