you wouldn’t loose on a little search mate, but here it goes:
Howto: Add custom art to your Madcatz Standard Fightstick
The how to mod your SFIV SE Fightstick FAQ
the link you’re probably looking for is the second one, i referred the other one too c’us they seem to be the essentials on that stick, art & parts modding.
thanks a lot for that.
I did search Procyon. However I was talking about the specific JLF’s on the Gremlin’s website as they seem slightly different to the ones in the FAQ, lizard licks and other websites, thanks.
Sanwa Joystick JLF-TP-8YT << on gremlinwebsite… flat mounting plate.
JLFs come with different models but the difference is primarily related to how the PCB is configured and whether the stick has a mounting plate or not.
What you definitely need is a JLF model that has a PCB so that you can connect the wiring harness that is inside the SE. That’s be a TP and not a TM.
There are two ways to orient this PCB. That is what the models with the Y designation and those without mean, the only difference between them is the way the PCB is oriented. It’s incredibly easy to convert one to the other (takes less than 30 seconds), so you can order either a 8Y or a plain 8.
The stock SE stick has a knockoff mounting plate that is supposed to fit the replacement Sanwa, but many have reported that this plate is secured with small and soft screws that easily strip when trying to get it off, so it’s a harder mod if you have to do that. The alternative is to buy a Sanwa already attached to a flat mounting plate. That would be the models with the T designation. I would recommend going for a T than a not T. If you get the one with an S mounting plate, you’d be in even more harder mod terretory, because you’d end up having to take the S mounting plate off the Sanwa as well.
There are some sticks with an SK designation appended, which means that they come with a shaft cover which is nice, but not required. You can also purchase this separately and add it to your stick make it feel better. To sum it up you can get either of these to work with increasing order of difficulty as you go down the list:
Directly drop in:
JLF-TP-8YT/JLF-TP-8YT-SK
Rotate PCB then drop in:
JLF-TP-8T/JLF-TP-8T-SK
Add a mounting plate but don’t rotate PCB:
JLF-TP-8Y/JLF-TP-8Y-SK
Rotate PCB and add the SE flat mounting plate:
JLF-TP-8/JLF-TP-8-SK
Rotate PCB, take off the S mounting plate and add the SE flat mounting plate:
JLF-TP-8S/JLF-TP-8S-SK
Need to rewire the stick in addition to all of the above:
JLF-TM models
Thanks Rejendra for a great post. I have a white JLF-TP-8YT with white Sanwa buttons from Gremlins. Hopefully they will be here soon and I should find it easy to replace,
Thanks again
ordered my jlf from gremlin a week a ago, got it this morning and it feels smooth like buttah! thanks gremlin!
ps. got it through ebay from them.
Hi all
1st post, be gentle with me
i ordered my SE replacement parts from Gremlin solutions, it took 3 weeks from order to arrival.
they must have removed my JLF from its original box to save on packing size and one of the 5 connector pins was slightly bent on the stick but no major hassle to straighten and install.
never had any emails from them but they were always helpful when i phoned and kept me up to speed on my order status.
I can say that Gremlin are top notch, ace customer service and fast shipping
Gremlin’s very quick on their shipping. Paid a small premium because JLFs are in high demand but I got it in a week’s time. eBay ended on the 20th and shipped out on the same day. I received it yesterday in the mail (27th).
Just ordered my Sanwa buttons and joystick from Gremlin, hopefully won’t be too long a wait but I’m expecting up to 3 weeks, no big deal as my SE stick works fine but looking forward to the Sanwa parts.
how do you cancel an order??
ordered some button plugs, but got a better deal from laugh…
I emailed them to cancel, but Im not sure that is “sure” enough to cancel a “paid” order by paypal…
advise?
They should respond to the email and refund your Paypal payment. I then moved the money back from my Paypal account to my bank account (which didn’t cost anything).
This is bullshit. I ordered a JLF from them on their store on the 18th, no shipment yet. It seems that they care more about their customers on ebay.
Maybe they have 2 departments in the company, one for ebay and one for their shop, they’ll have to allocate stock for ebay, so it probably means the ebay department isn’t as busy or is coping with the demand better.
As a side note, today i ordered 9 Sanwa Pushbuttons OBSN-30 and 1 Mini Momentary Pushbutton. I didn’t order my Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT Stick cause they’re out of stock so i didn’t want to wait for that to come in before receiving anything. lol
I ordered Sanwa stick and buttons through Gremlins main site and it took three weeks before they arrived!
I ordered Sanwa bits on the 15th Mar, supposedly gunna be shipped tomorrow:looney:
my order is being processed !YAY! (they started processing the day after i put the order in so woot!
"We are happy to take new orders but customers need to be aware of the delay with despatch times.
We hope to be fully caught up by the end of next week (Approx. 3rd April)" - i dont expect them to send anything out before then, i am happy to wait though
I use gremlin solutions too, and although i do agree that they can take their time when ordering from their site, well for me its been 2 weeks max, this also could be because they are genuinely busy, they’re not too bad at all. I’m quite a happy customer as they do keep you well informed when you give them a ring. Also, who else is there in the UK? I don’t really want to order from abroad because of the import duty costs, so i’ll keep using them until there’s a better alternative in the UK.
Them being fully caught up is one thing, but there’s a genuine shortage of parts at Sanwa’s end now, I believe.
Still, I’ve been itching for a chance to try out Happ and Seimitsu parts anyway
