Are there any sites with interviews or sections about Baki’s design? Or about his conceptual / creative origins? His design just really works.
I liked the designs better before everybody got their eyelids partially inverted, and their arm and leg proportions got borked…but it’s still tolerable.
@Ryu, there was an interview by Itagaki where he went into all kinds of detail about baki, the designs, inspirations for some characters(Yuujirou for instance is based off a combination of Matt Dillon/A Lion/Demon for instance), etc. The WFP(ugh) subbed one part of the interview, but the subsequent parts haven’t been uploaded with subs(they were uploaded without but TV-Tokyo wtfpwned them for Copyright, I still have the clips on my computer however)
@Rhio: I definitely liked the styling of the original series, though not nearly as detailed as it is now, the postures weren’t nearly as fucked, and were a lot more realistic. There were some moments in GB, but once it got to NGB it got really fucked, I’ll never forget Ali Jr’s stilts legs >_>

Wow didnt know all that. Matt Dillon?? Mind you he does have anime-like qualities for his face but I can’t see him matched up with any Baki character.

So I have finally caught up with the Baki manga’s and I must say one of my favorite fights would have to be the Speck vs Hanayama fight. That fight was on point for me. Now if anything I just want to see some real good fighting between Yuji and his son. I mean like you know niggas are about to go HAM.

Peeking my head in here to post that rumour has it that Sonikku(owner of the Win or Die blog) has passed away. Someone came onto his blog, posting about how he succumbed to pneumonia while still being treated at the hospital. Sonikku himself had posted that he was still trying to recover a few weeks back but nothing since. So chances are that he has passed unless he himself pops up, which apparently hasn’t stopped the WFP from trolling his blog.
If true, then a RIP to Sonikku is in order
