Like people on here have said before, Yujiro is a far more interesting character than Baki.

Lol I was rolling, that speech was hilarious for me. He is pretty dang interesting, especially his relation with his own son not being one of hate from his end but morbid curiosity to see if the boy can challenge him, and how he treats jack like a redheaded stepchild

^I would definitely like a Yuujirou gaiden series, as even though he’s the main antagonist, we still know very little about him, especially the post birth period before he started fighting in vietnam, I’d like to see just how he was raised if he was giving his mom orders ever since he was born(and it would be really interesting if she came back into the story somehow, especially for the final confrontation between Baki/Yuujirou, as she obviously knows what he’s become from her bit piece in Advent of Ogre

It’s actually pretty good. Dude roams the southern countryside during the 1800s hunting down hellspawn while dealing with rampant racism.
It kind of reminds me of Berserk.
I was mostly impressed by the way black people are drawn in this manga. They actually look like… people and none of this Mr. Popo/racist caricature bullshit that ran rampant during the time this book was made; it was clearly ahead of its time in this regard.

Which is probably why it failed. One of the reasons I liked Baki was because Itagaki didn’t draw black people like monkeyish buffoons/good ole darky/idiotic thug(Tetsuya Saruwatari is good on this too), I mean I don’t think its that hard but whatever.

Would love to see it get a sequel, along with Ultra Red(Yeah HE, there’s no sequel, the series literally stops RIGHT at that point which is mind bogging, so it was probably cancelled but no one knows for sure.(Considering his series after that, Blizzard Axel iirc, ran for several more volumes, he may have actually intended to end Ultra Red at that point, which makes no sense but cool)

But, he did (and still is, I think) Kongoh Bancho, which is a more shounen fighting but crazy. Really entertaining series, but translations haven’t been consistent.

Name some series where the moral is hard work and competent training can overcome genius/natural ability. Kenichi, Berserk (love, love, love, LOVE that scene), Ippo are all that come to mind for me.

You mean scanlations right? I haven’t seen any new KB scanlations in weeks, and I’ve put it on hold until more come out.
Ultra Red was really cool, but it sucks that it got canned, if ever an OVA or anime is made for it I hope it continues the story and provides some good fights.
