So they are finally gonna reveal why the fuck Yuujiroh is so broken story wise besides Satan Hack? Awesome.
… i made up cyborg limbs. … lol. retsu just kicking it old school, going into a dojo and showing them how its done. the rest is yujiro doing yujiro. letting the us know he is still god like and pimpin presidents. baki still day dreaming about beating his father down. his father still displaying feats of strength that makes you wonder if hes an immortal god, and is bullshitting when he says anything about baki being close to his level, and all other characters not showing an appearance yet, or just showed us theyre still god like with one arm. oh, and that doctor dude still got dem hands. oh, and a couple people agree baki won vs pickle because he forced pickle to use technique over brute strength and speed, one of them being his father.
Yeah, been a little debate or so over who one, taking Yuujirou’s comment “He who propels himself to greater heights is the victor”, I’d say Baki was the winner, even though Pickle had knocked him unconscious.
Baki had constantly clowned on Pickle as long as he was using his techniques, Pickle couldn’t touch him
But then Baki re-engaged Pickle in a slugfest that he was starting to lose again(possibly resulting in the ogre muscle’s appearing), Pickle freaked out as soon as he approached Jack and felt his killing intent even though unconscious, Baki’s oni muscles probably spooked him into using that technique instead of continuing the slugfest. Martial Arts techniques are constantly referred to as the techniques the weak use to overcome the strong, so for Pickle to be forced to use the technique against Baki would be the same as admitting Baki was stronger than him(hence Hanayama saying Pickle had betrayed his belief as a man of power), though from the martial artist Retsu’s point(Pickle had the choice to end Baki’s life), pickle would be the victor, but just on the matter of who was “stronger” or reached a greater “height” I’d say Baki did.

But on a digression, it does make me wonder if Baki is really that much weaker than Yuujirou now, or if he’s already reached his goal, taking this note from the recent chapters

Hanma Yujiro is at a height of 10,163 meters.”
Oliva = The Strongest Human in the world, Yuujirou/Baki at this point are no longer considered human, Now Baki was completely outclassed by Oliva until the oni muscles appeared, at which point he still didn’t completely tool olivia, but overpowered him in the war of attrition, taking damage himself in the process. Now with Pickle, Baki couldn’t even visualize Pickle’s aura, whereas with his father’s he can make it manifest perfectly. Baki completely tooled Pickle, with Pickle maybe getting three good spots on him(the suicide drop, the initial head-to-head failure of baki, and the final throw). But other than those moments Pickle couldn’t touch Baki, and was rendered unconscious twice I think(using Retsu’s arguement, Baki had the chance to end Pickle’s life here as well. Well before the finale), and this was all done without Baki’s ogre muscles manifesting.
So imo, I’d say the gap has been significantly reduced, to where they’re pretty much even or Baki may even be stronger than him at this point(don’t shoot me stabby). If asked was Baki strong enough to fight Yuujirou after Oliva, I would’ve said hell no,as would’ve been proven by Yuujirou/Oliva’s little sparring match(Yuujirou made Oliva struggle in their strength contest without breaking a sweat, even though the gap between them isn’t that big, whereas baki was tooled until his back muscles came), but now I’d say it’s not so clear cut.
Can someone please give me a link or something that I can read translated from where Wild fang stopped in SOO, up to Chapter 170?

To be honest, I still feel the gap is huge. It becomes a matter of if Baki can beat the power of Pickle combined with, at the bare minimum, an equal to Baki’s own level of technique. Which is probably what Baki was trying to test.
new baki blogspot has some of the newer stuff in the 170s and 180s, which is where we are getting our info from, and onemanga has up to 130. you could probably check torrent sites for anything after that. . i dont have anymore links to anything we got before, but i can upload stuff you need again.

Fair enough objection, I just at the minimum don’t feel Baki would get tko’ed at this point like he did when he was 13
this may sound weird, but after the pickle fight, im like, how would a fight be between baki and yujiro go. it wouldnt be a lot of super cool techniques anymore, but mostly a slug fest. great. if they do fight, i would like for it to be in the outdoors, like in the woods or something, and they could fight through the terrain, kicking through trees, throwing each other off the cliff, beating each other up under water, and all kinds of shit. other then that, a 1 on 1 on the typical tournament field would be boring, and just a random back and forth slug fest, no true test of their just overall power and skill they have developed over years of all this training.
the only reason the pickle fights were interesting is because there was a lot of technique vs brute power stuff going on, and not just slug slug slug slug. but the two strongest people are beyond techniques at this point, as even baki resorted to a straight up slug fest with oliva. i wonder how gaia vs jack would go. random thought. gaia is too small. jack vs oliva would be interesting, and a good fight i think.
Good point Jimmy, Gia is still in the woodworks, I think. I dont know if they post them oneline but,there are sometimes extrabaki comics in the magazines(one-shots) of other characters like Gaia and Retu. Since theyve been two of Gaia so far, I bet hes not out of the woodworks yet. A lot of great characters left eh. I hope they get eventually used. If I could draw like itagaki, Id be tempted to do fan-fiction, as lame as I think it is.

i dont know why, but im still rather interested in that kaioh dudes son who was 100 years old and looked 30. he got deaded quick though. i guess we will see little stuff for a bit while itagaki works in another tournament or something to end the series, with a bunch of side shots after that. its just kinda unbelievable for anyone to battle baki or yujiro right now and win, but only get a good fight because they didnt want to just immediately destroy you. but im sure at one point i thought, jesus christ, what the hell can happen next, and something happened next.

Just gonna interject a bit to ask if anyone saw that vid on youtube about a year ago regarding Keisuke Itagaki? It was an extremely rare interview that actually videotaped the process of how baki manga is made, interviewing Itagaki’s team, as well as him explaining the origins of several characters(Yuujirou’s face being inspired in part by Matt Dillon, a Lion, and an Oni), just wondering if anyone ever saw that? Missed it myself before I could save the vid >_<

Nah, that big colonol guy held a press conference claiming he was the infamous Gaia. The reporter asks him then that if he is the real gia, please explain about his super-secret technique the tunnel. He replies that if its rock tunnelling, then yes, I am an expert, I dont know about this tunnel, to which his ass gets tunnelled by the real Gaia. The transmission of the live broadcast was of course canceled.

it was taken down by the time i saw it. i sad now. i havent posted this much back to back in a minute. i guess seeing the ending of the baki fight, and yujiro dominating oliva has me in that speculation mode.
DAMNIT, IF NAMCO DOESNT MAKE THE GRAPPLER BAKI SERIES WITH THEIR TEKKEN 6 ENGINE, IM GOING TO STOP PLAYING TEKKEN. lol! just one last time on how perfect that shit would be. i wish i was rich, and i could just be like, here is 5 million, make my fucking game bitch. like i said before, just due to the nature of the characters and everything else about the series, it might give tekken a run for its money, but better yet, and dont have a heart attack, but grappler baki vs garouden would be beyond god tier, and with a cast as large as the tekken 6 cast. too good! baki vs jack, stage would be where baki and hanayama fought in that club, and it would be tight if you could knock them through the window onto the street to continue fighting. maybe even a more interactive environment then just wall and floor breaks. aaaaah, the future. lol.
wouldnt be many female fighters, but oh well. just jacks mom. no story, just all about the fighting game. i want all work poured into the graphics to make them as much as the manga as possible, and into the game itself. no crazy juggles, but more of a fast paced, in your face grappling like game, but with still a nice emphasis on spacing and movement like in tekken. i want something that has a nice emphasis on reactions and timing. a game that literally is forcing you to be on your toes like your in a real damn fight during the whole match. like, just go hard. go for an advanced type game. i think the people would eat that shit up. a game thats a true test of your physical and mental abilities, but also visual appealing, and fun as shit.
ill take a 2d baki game, but i really would love to see the beauty of the baki and garouden world done by the tekken team. at least get them in the next tekken. ha ha. just give me 6 baki characters. baki, yujiro, jack, old aikido guy, wild amazon guy that bit baki, and orochi. i said wild amazon guy because he would probably play very interesting. its not like someone there isnt aware of the series, because during the tekken 5 series i was like, um, his name is feng wei, but im sure thats retsu from baki. fast forward years later with tekken 6 hype, and someone finally makes the comparison.
i would take personal time out of my life to develop a hype train for grappler baki vs garouden or at least a grappler baki game. lol. i feel like a dork, but i might literally spend some free time this week thinking up a system for the game, and just plaster my idea all over the fucking internet until one of those dudes see it, steals it, and brings it up at a morning meeting. of course i will post ideas here so we can all dissect it to pieces. i have an idea of bringing the break blow games into the tekken world with a little twist. i might have to reup on my baki to get more ideas. nerd fit!
^Just to give you a little glimmer of hope though nothing may come of it, Itagaki has personally stated that he was disappointed with how the initial baki game turned out, and that if there was another one, Namco was his favorite for it.(if Garouden is any indication with Yuujirou’s appearance, he seems to prefer a 3dish environment to a 2d one, but that’s just speculation on my part though I’d love to see a 2d baki done by Arc or even Capcom)
probably the closest we will ever get to a 2d baki is Gai Tendo(who’s a confirmed homage to Baki via snk, hell, his entire series is a homage to Baki the grappler, with Gai and Silber being based directly on Baki and Yuujirou.)
