No doubt about it. Tough is really good. The story moves along nicely. None of it is dragged out. And damn Kiryuu is like Yujiro/Akuma and I’m pretty sure who the Battle King is. I’m going reread the entire thing again. I’m that hooked. Also I prefer the art style over Baki’s.
Yeah, Retu asks to be allowed to be trained, the guy complains about the foot, he says who would be bothered, so the coach guy asks him to hit the bag to see what he can do. Retu asks if hes prepared to buy a new bag to which the coach replies, if you break the bag, Ill be your personal coach. The grandmaster has some illness that Yuujiro could see(apparently he can just sense peoples physical defects). He asks the doctor to grant his one last wish, cliffhanger.

Tough is ok. Something about Kiryuu bothers me. The original series hasn’t been translated except for a few chapters, I think I might like this one better if I had been able to read that one first.
Why the hell is Retsu learning boxing? Boxing is bottom tier in the world of Baki. Closest it got to praise was with Mohammed Ali and his ultimate style for weak.

Yes, what about Yuujirou’s panels of speech the past few chapters, with him and the politician, tokugawa, etc? Any mention of his fight with Baki coming up? Or maybe an attack on Pickle?
@Stabby: Yeah I agree, but according to Sonikku, Retsu made a few points about Boxing theory during the baki/pickle fight, so he might see room for improvement in boxing, but ofcourse with the pissing on of boxing that Itagaki has done without pause, it’ll be hard to take any upgrade Retsu receives seriously.
Only time Boxing has ever worked is when Yuujirou used it on Macgregor.
All politician talk has been hyping up Yujiroo as stronger than a superpower, even stronger than America. He was getting his bribes from the Japanese government and what not, like with Obama.
when Hatoya(Japanese Pres) was talking to his advisor, the advisor commented that though Yuujiro has a monopoly on power, the winds have changed – cue to Baki`s image training. Pickle might have just vamoosed it seems. Dont know what to say. No mention of anything. Mostly its just hype and filler, character development. Its not all too bad. I would do weekly translations, if I had more time and a computer…
Hell no, these summaries are fine. The forums for ritual are dead, and the only thing we understand are when someone punches someone else in the dick. And jugding by that last chapter, I didn’t even understand that.
If you don’t mind answering another question-- how the fuck did Baki lose? He seemed to be beating the shit out of Pickle, then it was just slam-KO-ggs.
And another thing-- I honestly don’t care for Retsu. He seems so under-powered compared to everyone introduced/developed lately. Even Doppo’s kid seems stronger than Retsu now. And Itagaki keeps sending him jobbers to fight. The Japanese v Chinese team in the kaioh tourney was retarded. I’d have respected Retsu more if he had fought Olivia and lost than by him fighting random US trainer.
Pickle learns how to use a technique, n the midst of their brawl. Go Baki for going toe-to-toe with the guy and almost winning. It says in that section that Pickle thought he was going to lose for a second before he thought up of using a martial art. It looked like a shoulder throw to me.
The technique isnt really shown. All we see is that pickle gets to grab Baki and Baki goes to the ground - lights out. The emphasis was that he used a technique and not just brute strength. Thinking back, Baki kinda won that fight.
Of course, Hanayama and Retu were split on this one. Yuujiro said he just plain lost though.

He was done so fuckin nasty. He was king of the world…then what was done to him was the equivalent of having a chainsaw inserted anally…dry. I was actually kinda angry. That shit was just wrong. Was there a moral in all those false victories, then crushing defeats? Did Baki’s peers get together and plan that shit?
Ali Jr…that was just all kinds of wrong. All that shit he went through, just to get choked out like a scrub.
ROFLMFAO, so sonikku put up to 180, the outcome of baki vs pickle, so basically Baki jobbed himself for once by giving up on his strategy that was actually winning in exchange for a power vs power assault against Pickle(one he knew he’d lose)

Nah, Baki wanted a purer win I think. Like when he fought against Oliver, he wanted to show that he didnt need technique and was superior to Pickle in power too, which it seems he was, but I guess he`s not superior to Pickle plus a little martial-arts-know-how.
^Nah Baki thought to himself several times that Pickle’s musculature, power, and overall sturdiness was much greater than his, hence his reason for focusing on speed and technique in the first place. So then for him to go back to trying to outpower Pickle without the use of fancy techniques led to a beatdown with the difference in power again becoming obvious.
