wow I was wondering about what happened with baki and his girl not too long ago and now you guys started talking about it now haha
anyways yeah I always wondered what happened between them after noticing she wasn’t in ANY of the SoO chapters, so I started wondering if they broke up.
I have to agree that it looked like she was able to like ali jr at the end of the fight and I assumed they ended up together.
^Hahahah yeah, know all about Baki SAGA(the baki/kozue sex volume) very interesting stuff to be sure, thanks again for clearing all that up with the ogre brain and the kozue/ali jr thing, though at this point I’m sick of all the filler and just want to see Baki vs Yuujirou now, though it looks like Pickle might bring more filler since he escaped from being frozen again.
hehehe yeah I thought so too mvcplayer, but Baki/Kozue are back together as of soo 186, without knowing japanese I can’t say for sure what happened with her and ali jr, but it looks like they both parted ways atleast romantically after the fight.
^^
Funny scene in the baki porn-- Kozue touches his nipple and he goes all crazy with overstimulation – harhar, mr. manly fighter
I would like to see more Doppa and that old guy who flipped Oliver in Judo – they were hyping him up for something on some pages and still we havent seen anything happen. Also still feel bad for Jack: Pickle`s been kinda over powered. Ill have to check out soo186.
I also wish they had given more of a background story for Oliver especially on his training. That one little scene where they showed him training his abs with a helicopter was too cool , but by the next time we see him all we get to find out is that he eats like a horse everyday. Kinda boring. At least it was to me. Also tired of being explained esoteric facts that somehow loosely connect to the manga. What do I care about what people reaction iis to getting hit in the balls???
Jimmy I’ll get back to you on that later, but on that note, do you guys remember Yanwanghokuto? The guy who “caught” me for Ichido? Wel turns out he was proven to be Ichido himself on ritual scanforge, before he was subsequently banned from there.
Reason I’m posting, is that you all should remember how he was bragging about all rounder meguru, and that they’d release the first public the rest private? Turns out another group beat them to the punch.
for those not hip to the situation, all rounger meguru is a new mma manga by Hiroki Endo, been getting a lot of good reviews so far, gonna start reading it myself too, would also recommend you guys start reading Teppu(another mma manga around a female lead) too, good stuff.
@Ronin: hahaha, Oliva is based on the real life bodybuilder Sergio Oliva, and with Oliva’s emphasis on strength alone, consider his training mostly weight training, though he has confirmed that he’s done bare knuckle boxing too(during his fights in the raitai)
One more complaint-
What the heck happend to Oliver when he left CHina and came back to the states?? The first time he meets Baki and Baki asks what do you need to get big like that?`` he says, love and gives him a hug, by the next time we see him he`s freakin pissin on people! He did a 180 personality change .
^Oliva didn’t have a personality change, Oliva’s secure in the fact that out of all humans on earth, he’s the one who’s completely “free” so to speak, in that even though he’s a con, no prison/cage/gov’t can hold him back. Baki questioned this, saying that Oliva was only happy because of him being more “free” than everyone else, which made him the most chained person.
Yeah, I remember that conversation - but still the peeing on Baki was quite out of character for him, especially in contrast to all their meetings before then, particularly if you think of the hug and love scene, but Itagaki likes to try to just make his villians as descipicable as posssible before letting Baki whip them, and then making the past villian look really weak later. I felt Oliver`s change wasnt fitting to what we had seen till then but you could argue that we didnt really know much about him in the first place. This series feels like a lot of wasted potential in many places to me. But I wanna keep reading.
^I agree, for me, the character with the most wasted potential is Jack, even though Oliva got fucking screwed too, there’s absolutely no reason him and Yuujirou should’ve had that large a strength disparity, it completely pissed over his entire character.
But Jack getting mudstomped and mollywhomped by Pickle, basically being taken out of commission, but not even manifesting the Ogre back? wtf? it’s like Itagaki couldn’t just give Jack one good win other than Ali jr/Garland, he just had to let even Jack job to Pickle just so Baki can look good(it doesn’t make him look good, it makes the manga look stupid and poorly written).
dude I have to agree also. jack, to me, is such a badass character that is not getting the attention he deserves. I mean, look at him, you know you don’t want to mess with that guy.Itagaki could make a jack hammer miniseries easily.(sigh) :shake:
^I don’t understand him not wanting to spend time on him, Jack IS the “other hanma”, and Itagaki spent several pages building up Jack as an opponent for Pickle “like none before in power”, only for him to get peaced out like that, gtfo here.
^^ Yeah, but its Bakis story , I guess, so maybe thats why he doesnt wanna spend time on him(???). But still a crap lot of wasted hype. I hope we can see Jack come back in some shape or form. Before Jack and Oliver got the ``Pickle treatment``(i.E. wasted for Baki hype)I was looking forward to a meeting between the two, since theyre both strongmen.
^Yeah, but by making Baki’s greatest enemies get peaced out so easily, it undermines his own achievements, to the point where Itagaki has to give him a bullshit power up by way of plot to hang with the new threat. Like there’s no reason Ali Jr should’ve jobbed to Baki like that, he took several shots from Jack, and for all of the build up of the ali boxing method being finally completed, it was a huge waste of potential.
Baki’s advancement would’ve been better shown by an actually fought out battle, instead of him 2 shotting everyone. Even Pickle was ultimately reduced to cannon fodder, even though it took much more for that fight to come to a conclusion, and there was so much bullshit filler and crap thrown into the Pickle fight that it made it a chore to get through, not something where I was on edge to see the conclusion.
edit: but let’s not forget there’s a LOT of ethnocentrism in Baki, I mean a shitload, if it’s not obvious with Yuujirou’s war escapades, just paying careful attention to the dialogue will show you just how much Japan and JMA are fluffed up. The ethnocentrism really ruins the series for me, but I’ve come to far to stop reading without seeing Baki vs Yuujirou.
Garouden is actually much better for it as far as the relative power levels in fights, but then again, Itagaki is merely illustrating Baku’s written novels, so there’s why you have a more realistic power balance.
^ yes I did, I’m loving how he’s playing hitman on all the tourney guys, I thought for a minute those wrestler’s had him, but this new guy that showed up might be the one who can actually hang with him
