yeah, so you said yujiro is showing technique over power. duh, i should have picked up on that. showing why baki went as far as he did against pickle, where others failed. but besides jack, everyone tried some type of technique against pickle and failed miserably. retsu even went back to swinging like a baby when his technique failed. arguably retsu has some of the best techniques outside of yujiro. he just doesnt have hanma blood.
getting to another point. whats left now. i mean, they just brought in the toughest fighter in the series on a random whim, and that is pretty much over now. baki technically lost it seems, but still showed his strength, and in my eyes if he wanted to, he could have beaten pickle with no problem. retsu lost a leg, jacks mouth is shattered to hell, karate boy lost an arm, doppo is just an old man now, hanayama is just hanayama, and everyone else is irrelevant. whats next, cyborgs. realistically no one can challenge baki or yujiro and expect to win, maybe have a friendly challenge. i hope itagaki doesnt do something extreme to stall this, unless he plans on wrappin things up. another tournament? who cares. if baki and yujiro enter, its them in the finals for free. only other possible challengers left are a beefed up jack with ogres back, old man kaiohās son who got beat in 2 seconds by baki (maybe he could go into training for a couple years and come back a beast), um, who else.
i enjoy baki, but im just curious where it can go. top fighters have lost limbs, and baki and yujiro are gods posing as mortals
^Agree with you 100% jimmy, thereās really no way they can extend this confrontation further, now I think a post baki vs yuujirou world would be highly interesting(scarface actually takes place after the confrontation, which is why baki hasnāt appeared yet).
Itagaki messed up in my opinion by tossing developing all the major side characters just to have them permenantely incapacitated by Pickle, just to stroke Baki some more, that was an idiotic move imo, as well as Jack not receiving the Ogre back either, I mean seriously, what the hell, is it too much to have someone actually able to compete with baki and yuujirou credibly?
Granted, there is a LOT of ethnocentrism in Baki, which explains a lot of the bullshit, but itās gotten ridiculous.

Been talking to the guy who made the yuujirou shirt via email. Heās a custom shirt maker based out of thailand, who decided to take up making un-official anime based shirts. He also has a Hanayama design out(complete with āStanding Manā tattoo on the back of the shirt with bloodied cuts on it, sick looking >.<) and heās also releasing a Doppo and Pickle shirt(design is still in the prototype stages), I pestered him into puttnig the Hanayama design up for sale, as well as asked if thereād be a Baki version, he doesnāt have any plans but itās possible
Hit him up on ebay, Tomodachis is his un on there I think, or just search for baki until the Yuujirou shirt comes up, hopefully if enough guys buy the baki designs we can get some more shirts, as his designs look a lot better than the official baki āivy fightwearā line in japan.

Hey guys haven`t written in this forum but have been reading Baki a while here in Japan in Japanese. I few complaints and I wonder if you all agree with them.
1.) How is it that in the Biscut Oliver fight, Baki takes on Oliver no-holds-bar approach but the in the Pickle fight its all about skill? I also cant tell whether the author feels that true strength is Technique or Brute Strength, especially considering the Oliver fight and Pickle fight.?I guess Baki is able to produce a lot of power for his size - thats the only explanation I can think of.

I think the latest inclusions of Mr. Oliver are due to his popularity, but having Oliver lose that poorly in a strength match with Yujiro is unrealistic considering his portrayal of Oliver before, and anyway it makes the comic uninteresting to change the power balances so quickly with no reason. ALso, their height s are messed up, all of a sudden Oliver is the same size as Oliver.
Whats next Yuujiro beating Pickle with the flick of the wrist?
I read Baki every Thursday as soon as it comes out.

^Agree with you 100% on Yuujirou vs Oliva, that was ridiculous, especially for Oliva who was claimed to be almost even with Yuujirou in strength alone, itās like Itagaki just wanted to set baki several chapters backwards.
As for Baki vs Oliva, yeah, that was kinda bullshit, but Oliva basically kicked the shit out of Baki until Oni-No-Plot appeared, but Iāve already said how I donāt care for bakiās devil may care attitude or anything, Iāve really found myself getting caught up in all the side characters rather than baki, though Itagaki then decided to have the side characters job to Pickle for Baki. -.-

i dont know the translations yet, but i believe baki was trying to show pickle something more so then win the fight. like how to enjoy it, and no fucking eat people. lol. i think he already knew technically he could do it. i think baki just went at oliva like that to prove a point too. i think oliva said something in reference to his tricks wont work on him, so baki was like, fuck it, ill show you i can just mash your shit in yujiro style. baki didnt lack any skill back then, but im assuming he wanted to even test his own strength, and not his technique against oliva, considering oliva was i would say the next strongest behind yujiro at that point.
oliva vs yujiro would go no other way. yujiro is a god, period. of course he would lose a strength match vs a 7 foot monster who kills giant elephants for fun. lol.
i dont know whats going on with the devil brain shit,and its probably gonna not even be a major deal later on anyways, but weāll see. baki getting stronger by imagining fights is not far fetched, and is applied in our real world. they have tested the results of imagining doing something like taking basketball shots, vs actually doing it, and doing half imagining half physically doing it. the people that were just imagining they were doing they shots 100 percent of the time still considerably increased their skill when it was time to do test for real shots at the hoop. to the point that the results indicated there could be potential in my opinion for humans to not have to physically do anything to learn a skill, but if we had the technology to mentally put them through the motions through vivid imagery, people could train in the comfort of their own living room. id have to do some googling to find the article, but besides that article, that type of imagination training is applied in real life sports very often. all the way up to an olympic level. bakiās is just an advanced level of this, where his imagery is so detailed, that he even causes himself damage through i guess you could call it a sort of placebo effect, where he believes he is in a real fight so much, his body hurts itself. like how the stories of people under hypnosis are told something is scorching hot, and its not, but they believe it to be, and they will actually burn themselves. placebo effect is a little base level for the theory behind it, but i dont feel like getting into a science debate over a manga.
looks like pickle used some type of reverse and slammed baki down. it was pretty random, and maybe baki let him do it to teach him something, considering baki ran that entire fight, and there was no reason to randomly get reversed, or baki wasnt expecting pickle to adapt so quick and got caught off guard. other than that, pickle used brute force to demolish everyone else. they were technically all too weak, and also lacked the skill. arguably baki is as strong physically as pickle, but obviously has more martial skill then him.
The devil brain thing with the Rats isnt explicitly explained but the claim is that in the newspapers the next day this incident appeared in a small column and no one realized the cause was this young boy Like someone said before, its the same as the yujiro phenom when he meet Doppa back when. Brain vs. Brawn thing sounds on point. I thought the same thing too.

Yeah, the Kozue and Ali thing got me confused for a while too. It isnt explained much but at the end when Kozue aks him we he did that (referring to the fight), he says Ali got too dangerous to be easy on and she says Im goign home alone then we see the following scene where shes crying with Ali. Theres also that time where they pray together for Bakis safety in China - hes religious it seems, maybe kozue thought him mature?. Im guessing she fell in love with ALI, considering all the cafe scenes we get with the two of them and his quasi marriage proposal. Also, in that last scene she looks more mature , with a power suit on and all, so Im guessing she matured and fell in love with ALI(?) Thats my take on it. Not very well explained.
P.S. Theres a officialy Baki Porno showing somewhat explicitly Bakis first love experience with Kozue and its offically drawn bay Itagaki! Also has a picture of our dear author in a morning after kinda shot with the bed sheets around him and a thumbs up.
