DiegoElFuego: I’m willing to concede that all that stuff about Forza 3 is true, especially the car list and the customization. That’s what they do best. I just can’t play that game online for some reason. And I loved Forza 2’s online - imagine, an incomplete game being more fun than a “complete” one when playing against random strangers on Live instead of this half-assed, matchmaking-only garbage that either 1) puts you in a room with just yourself 2) puts you in a room with CoD kids that blame you for their avoidable accidents or 3) just can’t connect to anything despite there being at least 100 people wanting to do A-class racing…I haven’t played FM3 in months and I feel like I’m just pissing away money with every DLC pack when I never play the game to begin with…I love the car list, and I love all the customization options and every car having a cockpit view and stuff being cheaper, I just don’t think the racing itself is that good cause the game’s too easy.
Not to say GT5 is better in every way, because it isn’t - far from it actually, I just think that so far, it’s a more interesting video game as opposed to Forza. I’ve got a while left to go in this game to change my mind though, and if the same shit that turned me away from FM3 rears its head in GT5, then I’ll put it away as well.
Both Turn 10 and Polyphony need to remove their heads from their own asses and start taking ideas from each other - Polyphony needs to start modeling more Europe, US, and Korean cars and embracing car customization and all that shit, while Turn 10 needs to throw in a dirt course here or there, make a more challenging handling model, make the graphics look better as a whole and fix their online structure - all this without taking things away.
Ever since I played a car sim (forza) with good triggers for gas and brake, it has been hard to go back to GT. PS triggers are ass and controls are enough for me wait a bit on GT5. If I see it for a good deal will get a copy.
Give some of the Xbox-esque controllers they make for PS3 a whirl. Power A sells a USB controller for like 20 bucks, only thing is the deadspot on the analog sticks are too huge, but they did get the triggers facing the “right” way. Good for PC games too if you can’t afford the Xbox 360 controller and the wireless adapter.
couple of things, 360 pad is just as bad as the ps3 one, just cause you got better shoulder buttons (ps3 l-r2’s suck, 360 l-r1’s suck ass, 360 analog sucks more than ps3’s, same for the dpad, even the normal buttons are better on a ps3 pad).
also i only use the shoulder buttons to shift gears. imo the best way to play gt on a pad is with everything on analogs, left analog (or d-pad) for steering, right analog for throttle and brakes. once your adjusted, youll love it. that, or get a wheel.
also even though a steering wheel is better than pads (analog), there is a tricks i use for gt games. for instance when your in a corner and you going too fast, you could lower the analog a little bit lower to decrease your speed. for me, this either meant too much speed loss or not enough. the way i do it is by moving the analog down through the sides, so im going from up to upforward or upleft to slow down just enough for the corner. same logic is applied when cornering, expect this time you move it up or down. so when cornering left and your turning too sharp, i move the analog a little upleft or downleft to precisely take the corner at the right curve. i think i can kick at least 80% of the steering wheel users on a pad using this method. ive got like a 99% complete in gt4 using this method. and some of those driving missions are pretty damn hard normally on a pad.
I have my copy $50 shipped. That’s as good as it going to get for now.
That’s opinion, I’ve had tons of the same game on both systems, (and pics to prove it/not trolling) and 360 sticks are def better for minute inputs. It’s like PS3 analogs are a JLF, and a 360 analog is an LS-56.
I have a pad setting that I’ve used in all GT’s except 3 since you cant freely map in that:
D pad for steering
D pad up for upshift
D pad down for downshift
[] = gas
X = brake
O = e-brake
T = reverse
I also have a Driving Force Pro wheel, but I don’t feel like setting it up. I dont use the triggers in any PS3 racers when you can map. Only for 360.
I just hit level 13
The Mugen Motul Civic Si Race Car '87 is fucking BEASTMODE!!.
It is has a bunch of race mods.
The race tires and race suspension has that car hugging all turns, you don’t need to break for most of the turns in the Japanese 80’s festival. I won both races by 50+ seconds each.
I haven’t put race tires on any of my cars, but should have on the Miata, but I still won that class race anyway after a few tries.
I’m using the Driving Force GT, and will order the Playseat next week.
Shit is great.
Anyone else just a little disappointed by GT5? It seems some of the issues are still there (handling wise and AI wise) and a few questionable design choices. Overall I’m having more fun than I thought I would with the game, considering I how hated GT4. Though it was personal choice to keep playing GT3 and Enthusia (and a little bit of Forza) until I picked this one up.
well FINALLY got my zr-1… and it is murdering everything alive
i love it, took for fucking ever to get lvl 15, but oh well, even got my friends brother to help haha
lol me neither, till i saw a good friend of mine do it and noticing that he was almost as good as me after some training time. i used to play with X and square, along with either the d-pad or analog for steering. first time i tried this method i occasionally had a miss between throttle and steering. after a ganme or 3 got completely used to it. i havent played gt since gt4 (like a yeaer or so ago), and have only played gt5 some time ago at a game con but on a wheel and shit.
to all pad players, if you are having a hard time and wanna try something different on a pad try this method. once your accusommed to this way of playing you wont go back to the old ways. only way on a pad that comes close to a wheel imo.
and again, ps3 pad > 360 pad. you might not like how far the ps3 analog reaches, but that doesnt mean it isnt better than the 360 one, and thats a fact not an opinion. try playing sf4 on both analogs. you might fuck up moves and such with both, but at least the ps3 version ALWAYS blocks low. try playing sf4 on a 360 analog, like 30% of the time i straight up cant even block low (mostly just ducking or sometimes just back instead of db). d-pad is bad on both, but worse on the 360. buttons are bad at both, but i personally feel the ps3’s are just a tad better. the shoulder buttons, like i said, the lower L and R are crap on ps3, and the upper L and R are utter crap on 360. however, the upper 360 L and R might nt be as crap as the ps3´s lower L and R. also 360 pads are just gay in general, the shit goes out of power after a single day. even when you dont play.
wow, there are people that didnt like gt4? thats crazy, if you like serious racers gt4 is just the thing. by far the best racer on previous generation systems.
I play using analogs when playing OutRun 2006, but that’s about it. I feel that you do not have enough control of the car when you can not utilize brakes and gas at the same time.
brakes and throttle at the same time? you have a real license? also dont you think it would be way faster to just go from down to up very fast on the right analog instead of changing buttons? just sayig. also with outrun i just use the shoulder buttons for gas and brakes and use analog for steering. but outrun is way too easy to base anything off. also, it fucking sucks they took it offa psn. i actually bought this game really early cause for some reason i had a feeling that this game wasnt gonna stay on psn. and they really fucking took it off, wtf.
