I’ve played every GT, but I feel like I won’t be buying this. With GT4 I just got so fed up with two aspects of the game.

  • Awful A.I. They drive like no one else is there.
  • No real “goal” to the game. You can’t be like, “Oh, I beat GT.” It’s just a list of races that you go through; there’s no point. I want to have a goal, or god forbid, a story. (see: Ridge Racer 4, TOCA, GRID, Apex)

I can see myself picking it up used, however.

AI is supposed to be improved in GT5. As for a “goal”, it’s what you make of it. It’s not meant to be some epic journey or anything, it’s a sim racer. Plus, now with multiplayer, I’m sure people will put together leagues or whatnot.

True, it may not be meant to have that journey, but I feel that adds a ton to a game. I enjoy the sim aspect, sure (I used to adjust gear ratios according to track type) but if you’ve ever played a story driven racer… I feel like there’s no going back. TOCA and GRID are just so enjoyable.

Played GT5 in 3D at Euro Gamer Expo. Literally amazing.

This game’s been in the works since forever so it better be good. I usually grow tired of racers pretty quickly in like maybe two or three weeks. Since this game has been in development for so long it probably has enough content to keep my attention for months or at least I hope so. This would be the first racer I’ve bought in years, well I might get Modnation Racers before it since the price of that game has probably dropped by now.

I’m excited about the improved AI and online multiplayer. I have other friends with steering wheel setups and up until now we’ve never been able to have a true race in our own environment against each other. Those reasons are why I stopped playing GT4, I could care less about gettin 100%. Some of those races are boring as hell…I’m not gonna race a 60hp car after burnin through the same track with some super cars for so long…not happening.

I’m debating on getting rid of my DFGT and gettin a G27…but its just so damn expensive. Anyone else have any impressions on making this jump? I’m pissed at myself for not hopin on that best buy deal for $150 this past spring…

Either way, I won’t buy any other game for months after getting this.

delayed…I’ll be surprised if we see it this year. I purposely didn’t read anything about the game until a solid release date was made so I could avoid shit like this.

Eh, at least I can buy Ys: The Oath in Felghana now and have some time to play it before GT5 hits. I have a feeling it’ll be out before Christmas, I think Sony just wants to get in closer to the holiday rush.

Hey, if it releases around Christmas time, I might actually have time to play this game instead of having to play it 15 minutes a week while I slave over term papers.

I really hope this creams Forza 3. I only own a 360 so I won’t be playing GT5 but if it pushes the racing genre even further I’m happy.
