Gran Turismo 5 Thread: Don't forget to change the oil on that beater

I know the first video was comparing it with a DFP, but the second one was a DFGT. I couldn’t find a video that directly compared the G27 to a DFGT, but you should be able to piece together what I mean by watching both videos.

yea upon further investigation the DFGT is slightly noisier than the G27, though it is still quieter than a G25. That said the DFGT is noticeably quieter than most all other wheels. Sry for the misunderstanding.

Wow, still looks crazy for a ps2 title.

Not sure if anyone has checked out the weather video. Amazing stuff.

Holy sheeeiiitt. That is hella beast. Looks amazing.

looks sick. glad i bought my logictech wheel a while back

Weather looks great.

I usually stick to F1 and actual series games (F1, Indy, Nascar sometimes) because I like those sort of career modes and an actual series schedule better and don’t care about racing civics.

I haven’t read much about the game, but I’m interested in the fact that this one has Nascar and probably a really good GT and Prototype series in it.

Have they added damage to this one finally? I didn’t play 4, but I fucking hate the pinball bounce around off other cars bs that was in the first 3.

Also, I’ve always hated the fake Maple Canyon sort of tracks, and the 50 different variations of them.

I want real tracks. Spa, Monaco, Indy, Road America, Nurburgring, etc.

I hate the crap where you’re racing through the fake mountainside track on the side of a cliff over a scenic bridge around a ferris wheel and all that crap.

Oh, and are there Rally races in this one?

is the best of the entire series, 5 not included. Gran Turismo 4 US into was baller. Can’t touch Van Halen.

How in the fuck do I go about building those wheel stands? I wanna build one before GT5 comes out.

ninja edit: holy shit, GT3 and 4 still look fucking amazing. How does a PS2 GT game look almost as good as Forza 1?

Many of the fake tracks are in there, but confirmed are Nurburgring(Nordshleif and GP), Monza, Daytona(Oval and Road), Indy(Oval and Road), Suzuka(GP and variations), Fuji(GP and variations), Monaco is under a different name for copyright reasons i believe, but its still the same GP track.

Damage is in definitely, there are official WRC license in this time. But most of the game is primarily GT in the higher level races.

Damage is the biggest issue from the others I had.

I also wish I could just jump into a real series and get going, not have to start out in a hatchback and spend hours racing garbage stuff and buying new mufflers just to earn money to get into a real race.

Maybe with Nascar and WRC licensing they’ll have options to just play seasons of these.

You could technically B-spec your way through the beginning of the game, but then you’re gonna spend a lot of time not playing. The main limiter of the game that decides what you can or cannot race is money and cars. Both of which you need to earn first.

Went ahead and picked up a DFGT for $62 on eBay, figure I can’t really beat that. Now to wait for the game…

gt4 and even 3 still look damn good imo. next gen what?

also i hope they finally fixed the bs endurance races. it says do not keep ps2 on for more than 2 hours. even with bspec and FFx3 youd need 8+ hours to clear a race. and you know whats really good, you cant even save during a race. that was imo the gayest shit in all of gt ever. even the liscenses are ok compared to this.

lol, I love the endurance races.

I will definitely do a 200 lap race at Indy if possible. And I’ve finished a 24 hour on Le Mans for Dreamcast (in a few sittings)

Dunno bout the rest of you, but as a GT vet, some of the old tracks have nostalgic value for me. That and I’ve pretty much memorized the lines though most of them.

imagine playing GT on this.XD

that doesnt change the fact that you cant save a 24 hour race. and in gt its real 24 hours, even fastforwarding in bspec its still over 8 hours.

Yeah, I’ve never done a 24 hour in GT, I stopped playing after GT3 I think (I don’t remember if there was a 24 hour in there).

That’s retarded that you can’t save them.

High Speed Ring 4 Lyfe bro.

High Speed Ring will always be the quintessential GT track. When I was younger, I used to think the track outline looked like a bear

Great times with GT1.

Ever use a gameshark to hack a GT game? Good time hacking GT1, making the cars suspensions so low they sank into the ground and crap.
