Sf2 heads from back in the day refer to it as the ol’ neck kick!
lol, i mentioned that …" has to be delayed to the point you almost whiff behind them"
I need to try RH Demon Flip more, just tested this out yesterday. Anyways, great find, need to practice some more of this.
Holy Suspence Batman!!!
Spoiler
What I found, was that a Ryu could do the Ultra in a wakeup and you will get all the damage. Also giving him the chance to throw a Super after the Ultra. And the MK DFlip last as a Crossover he can do EX Tatsu and then do a Ultra if you go to the corner. But it depends on the situation and position obviously, but it’s probable.
I noticed something about practice mode I can’t get Gouken to block ultra’s (viper’s and a couple others) when the playback is programmed to do it.
However, in human vs. human scenarios it works fine.
The problem is that when this situation happens, it’s a trade, Gouken gets hit by the Ultra and he hits Ryu, so is not a position in which a Human Gouken can block. And obviously Gouken ends up in the worse part of the trade. =/
thats exactly what i found, well, the ex tatsu i didnt know, but the ultra, yeah. ive had it happen to me, before i knew i could beat shit with the DF.
I’ve dodged it before : / i’ll mess with it
Edit:Ya in practice mode just do the RH or MK setup than block for like 5-6 seconds afterwards gouken will block the ultra unless your timing is WAY WAY WAY WAY off. Your recording just isn’t blocking long enough to last through the ultra animation. Same for all Ultra’s though.
heres what happens when i do it seph, i set training mode the way it should work for the rh setup on ryu. I test it out to confirm all timing is correct, then i do the reversal ultra. goukens foot is about to hit or right above ryu’s head, i havent touched the ground, then the ultra hits. You are saying i have time to block? ill have to test this. Im just trying to clearify cuase it appears to me that gouken is still in the air when the ultra hits him, same goes for when i tested this on Sagat.
Ya you have time to land and block on ryu and since you can safe jump sagat you always have time to block.
ok, ill check this out when i get home, thanks
I’m confused… If you do sweep > hk.DF to kick on Ryu’s back shoulder, that will stuff his srks… But your saying that if you do this correctly you also have time to block his Ultra?
Just a heads up ya’ll…
I’ll be editing my OP tonight or tomorrow to include all of the golden info recieved.
Big ups to Killa Kelly and Sephiroth…
and my xbox elite RROD’d the other day, so I haven’t gotten around to the midscreen frametraps…but I have some recording shit now So I’ll be working on that too… anyone who wants to contribute video of training room shit or matchup stuff you’ve done oto give some video proof hit me up and I’ll edit into a video ASAP.
Schools just a bitch right now.
me… seriously chase, we need to put some videos out of us playing : \
gouken does have mixups after his backthrow. this is what i do.
backthrow, j.mp (1hit), cr.fp, MK demon flip to whatever (beats anything that isnt an ultra or EX reversal) this can also be forward dashed by the opponent.
backthrow, j.mp (1hit), cr.fp, LK, i only use this if i think they will try to dash under my MK divekick.
backthrow, j.mp (1hit), cr.fp, HK== retarded, i dont know why i do this.
i can sit here and type up all my stuff of gouken. but perhaps ill just post some vids up someday : \
I notice you have time to block (I record Gouken walking back after the HK DF) but only if you do the Sweep at full distance. For some reason it takes longer to recover for Ryu after the full distance Sweep, unlike a closer range Sweep.
Still in the MK DF situations (which is mostly close range Sweep), it will counter all reversals, except most Utras and EX wakeups. Well so far for what I have notice.
EDIT: BTW got into a Ryu and Rose Ultra after trying to do the “Void” online, (Void makes more sense for Gouken than Vortex). lol
If you do it right the RH Demonflip is meatied in his shoulder this causes a wierd collision detecting glitch that pushes you more forward if they don’t reversal so you hit them in their waste to knee. So you will block slow reversals (aka ultra) or beat dp’s.
recently I did it with every character and their ultra’s either MK or RH demonflip beats EVERY option in the game.
Edit: why don’t we call it Okizeme or “oki” and not something gay lol
Gouken Okizeme
Gouken Oki ~ Try to say this 5 times fast lol
Gouken Void
Gouken Vortex
… I don’t know now!
lol thx, ill be sure to put some pix up later today if i get the chance just got it down took 3hrs so worth it. dam thing tickeld lol, a few times i almost laugh when he was doing gouken face, had to hold it it big time, lol.
didnt get the name done since the tat alone went over $200 and that was suppose to be the limit, another time ill do the name thing. gonna be gettoing DJ, or Ryu right next to gouken of the other side on my right shoulder blade area. hey about the “Master Gouken” name thats whats hes called so that why i thought to get it.
Yeah i understand. And by all mean, it’s your tat. I just think that having a picture of Gouken is enough without having to have his name written. Writing just Master would be almost like rubbing it in - which is cool. Writing Master Gouken is just simply writing his name. I dunno. My 2 cents.
On a more relevant note. I hit up training mode today and initially had a problem with stuffing ryu’s reversal srk after a f.throw. I did eventually figure out the timing and here’s what i discovered…
After a max range sweep, you CAN wait a split second afterwards before you do the rh.df kick. I recommend it. It helped me with the timing drastically. It may feel like it comes out late, but it doesn’t and you will still stuff it.
Now after a f.throw, i realized that you have to wait about 2 split seconds before doing the dash > rh.df kick. This helped me to nail it consistently. I tried to wait after the dash, but found that waiting before doing the dash gave me consistent results. Any thoughts?
i was sparring against the AI in training mode today and i landed two mk demon flips on ryu after a sweep that the range was somewhere between point blank, and full distance. i confirmed by seeing the reversal on the screen as my dive kick connected both times.
if anyone else can confirm that you can use mk demonflip on ryu when your sweep range is closer that would be great.
unless you had the computer set to do a certain move string, you may have hit a reversal tatsu or fireball.
set the comp to do fierce shoryu repeatedly and practice against that.
