I got some more vids of me playing some online matches. As always all criticism and comments are welcome. I’ve noticed that once u start watching ur own replays u begin to see the holes in ur game. My game is starting to get much better. I really recommend ppl do this for themselves. It will improve ur game by a thousand folds.

I’m just gonna throw 2 things out there:

[]You focus way too much. Anti-air focus is not good, it only works if they don’t see it coming or they don’t have a directional DP (IE not charged). Otherwise they do a late jump-in and DP and get basically a full jump-in combo damage on you. Charge characters can do the same with a backdash but they don’t get the full damage. Kongoshin is basically the same as anti-air focus only safer and the reward is a little less. Focus fishing might seem really good but if you do it a lot you will die from it. Even worse is that you whiff focus a lot. If they don’t throw anything out dash out of it immediately, don’t throw it out there.

]Start punish combos with s.hp instead of cr.hp when you can. 20 points of damage difference.

Ok kiddies… It’s up to you to do the homework and put this shit together, I did parts 2, 3, and 4 vs. Ken’s mp srk since it has the most invincibility out of all the srks and thus it’s the hardest to stuff.

It appears that Ken’s MP is really hard to stuff. Is it just me?

If you can stuff kens mp srk the rest of the shoto srks will follow suit, master that timing as if you can stuff that one you can stuff the rest or they will whiff and give you the punish. I will test the timing vs the other characters and see what I come up with. I know you can beat adons srk this way but the timing is different. Its possible to safe jump deejay as well but im not sure if I can stuff him yet I gotta look at the hit box animation and find a universal weak spot. Edit: Stuffing Dee Jay looks damn near impossible, I’ll stick to safe jumping him since it makes his flash kicks whiff for max punish.

Is Akuma’s EX srk possible to stuff at all?
Also, Akuma’s HP-srk look just as hard to stuff as Ken’s mp. Is it just me?

Also, it appears that the timing to stuff Ken will also allow Ken to dodge with forward dash. is that right?

Akumas srk has invincibility the entire upward motion so you def. don’t want to get hit by it, if timed properly and he does the EX SRK it whiffs and gives Gouken a max punish. His only safe option that I see is to try to dash or teleport out and they both can be punished especially the teleport.

B/C of the delay they will be able to forward dash away but you won’t be eating the reversal srk either (it’s a very short window to dash out primarily Ken, you don’t have to delay the others that much). If that happens then you just need to beware of a couple of things when you land, all in this order. 1. random srk from the opp., 2. grab from the opp. or some type of tick grab, 3. Focus Attack from the opponent to absorb your follow up attack. Your best bet is to go on the defensive and make the correct read if they are able to dash out, which is very risky on their part b/c they could dash right into a dive kick combo. There are some offensive follow ups that you can try if they try to dash out, but that’s kinda up to you.

Ken’s mp srk is the hardest of them all to stuff period that’s why I say mainly practice against that one. Akuma’s hp srk should either get stuffed or it should whiff, hopefully he will whiff so you can max punish.

All of the srk’s are “hard” to stop, but with a little practice I find them to be just a little harder than safe jumping Guile, Chun, and Dee Jay. Ken’s mp srk is the only exception, b/c you have to time this one a tad late b/c of the extra invincibility frames it gives him a better window to dash out. If you see that they like to dash out then mix him up with the faux safe jump set up, b/c he could dash right into a punish, or he may try to reversal srk and give you the sweet punish.

Man, i was hoping to see what bullcat did against a good Elf, but then that guy was barely competent. The Elf matchup is the only one that scares me.

Can’t u Option select c.rh if they dash, just option select it anyway.

Possible, depending on the scenario and character. Try it in training mode and let me know what you find, Ken can dash and punish the o.s. You might get away with it on Ryu and Akuma since you can stuff them a couple of frames earlier.

To be honest I use the same timing for all of them, it gets easier everyday.

Being able to do this doesn’t make Gouken any more or less solid than he already was. Its a tricky technique to master and it only benefits you if you can get an untech on them.

If anything it will just make your meta game better.

IAM, i keep reading that you can punish akuma teleport, but havent found it in a thread? what are you doing to punish it from the demon flip? hk palm? let me know, most akumas i play against tele away rather than dp.

OS i think med palm during the gf kick / safe jump, if akuma tele he eats the palm.

Mp Palm works but if Akuma has Super or Ultra then he can punish you if he recovers in time to enter it, use lp hado if he has a Super/Ultra. Instead use HP Palm or lp hado b/c you beat short and long teleport with it since it has active frames from beginning to end. The game engine gives too many mixed results with using palm as the os. Depending on how Akuma reversed sometimes Gouken will go in the opposite direction (AWAY) from Akuma (it is possible for the teleport to make the dive kick cross up thus Gouken goes the opposite direction, you will have to find the correct timing to ensure that Gouken always lands in front to avoid this) you would still be safe provided he didn’t have U2.

You can also use a mk GF and try to catch him when he’s recovering from the teleport but this is tricky and a little risky if he does short teleport instead.

One thing that I didn’t check was what Akuma can do with this U2. If Gouken is jumping in to stuff, is it possible for him to teleport > instant U2? and from the reported DLC/Arcade changes his U2 will start up faster (just something to keep in mind but I doubt they will make it THAT fast).

Edit: As of right now there is no need to fear U2, he whiffs if he tries it as a dive kick reversal and if he teleports and then try it you can neutral jump and punish him b/c he telegraphed it. Just don’t try to palm or hado o.s. him if he has Ultra 2 bc you will get hit by it if he teleports then activates the U2.

if you do a df dive kick setup on akuma, you can lp. palm, mp. palm or ex palm his teleport on whiff confirm.
i don’t option select it.
if he doesnt teleport, i just block or go into c.lp’s after a blocked or hit df kick.
watch out for u2 though.
i was playing with an akuma the other day that started canceling his teleport into u2 after i had baited him.
