Sharing and teaching are 2 different things. I hope that everyone who posts videos here continues to do so, because win or lose…theres a LOT to learn from all videos. If people only put up grandmaster gameplay it wouldn’t be any development in the community. I like how we all grow together…remember that the majority of Gouken mainers dropped him for SSF4 so this is really one of the few boards that doesn’t really have a TRUE pro player backing it(I might be wrong about that…I’m not sure if Bullcat/Desora are pro).
Good shit guys, I’m working on something good right now, It should be up soon
hehe, yeah, im not very good but those videos helped me improve my own game quite a bit.
the videos and the scathing criticism i received here.
maybe if you posted some videos of yourself you would stop backthrowing into jab punch when you have ultra!
Most of these are old (with the exception of the clips where i have around 4kBP) and were played during the first month of release and in ALL of them I am using a generic microsoft 360 controller. Ill post some more when i have improved on stick.
All commments and constructive criticism apprectiated.
I don’t let peoples opinions change my gameplay I let the games played do that… Maybe if you stopped posting vids of yourself you wouldn’t be such a paper tiger.
What’s funny is that my jab reset is the shit fools are barely realizing in super…I been using that shiz since vanilla…
And if you think that’s all my game is you’re hilarious
I been safe jumping 80-90 percent of everything in this game since vanilla…
Talks like these should help you look deeper…see ya round campus.
paper tiger?
i don’t act better than i am.
i get my ass kicked all over the place and i post it.
im more like a solid chipmunk or something than a paper tiger.
my favorite thing about you is that you don’t deny using backthrow to jab punch instead of ultra, you just brag about what an awesome reset it is and then call me a paper tiger!
You got skills I’m not takin it away from you. I say that to get some even better rounds outta ya next time we fight. All’s fair.in war and 4 eh? Let us all join forces at Shin Sho…all mirror labs…? Then our collective training videos maybe can have there own thread.
As I said and the video illustrates, the window is much shorter and the timing is very strict, but if done correctly it consistently works after the forward throw.
Verily, Verily I say unto thee… you can not only stuff after the forward throw, but you can also stuff after a crouching roundhouse. AND… you can stuff it with d + mk but I’ll save that talk track for another day since one needs to try this in training mode first.
If you time it correctly, mp srk won’t be an issue even though it should be the hardest to do (I guess). This was the version I started testing first.
If one would like to practice and ultimately master the art, you will need to set the dummy Ken to spam mp srk/super and see how you can attack his reversal window, this technique is not easy to do but it’s well worth learning.
And once you add this into your mix up game, it can provide to be fatal against the shoto’s. Primarily Akuma, since you can attack the shit out of him if you knock him down and see let him see how it feels with the shoe on the other foot.
This is so badass. Thanks iamthatiam for this sorely needed equalizer. Getting so damn tired of getting shory-derped all the time. I can’t do it consistently yet…but I am working on it.
IMO, its easier to choose the reversal character as 1P and the safe jumper as 2P and do the setup under “Record” setting, then play back and do the reversals yourself with the Ken/Ryu/Whomever.
Yeah, but you want to be 1p and have the 2p doing the reversal so you can master the timing. You would only want to set Gouken to record as 2p when you want to test your findings, but once you’ve figured that part out make sure you are 1p to make the execution of it habit since the window is so small. Plus you get to practice punishing some one who is doing constant srk mashing.
I got a little something special for the shoto’s I’m working on a shoto specific vortex and it’s looking DAMN GOOD! The only weakness is the one that everyone knows… srk beats tick grab, frame trap, and 2 in 1 with GF so you have to be careful there or just end the strings to bait the reversal srk and punish them for it.
Tip: Make sure you check the angle of the dive kick (I put a pause in the vid @ the 3:02 mark). The reason why it works at that particular angle is b/c even though the srk has invincible start up, Gouken’s hit box is above the initial hits of the srk, and the dive kick hits the shoto after the 6th frame (that’s why it works on Ken’s mp srk).
The dive kick needs to be timed to stuff around the back shoulder mark when the shoto is standing. Anything too early or too late will result in a trade or the srk will win. He should be allowed to begin the srk but then you stuff it. If the shoto delays or does a non reversal, it will beat the dive kick b/c of the invincibility frames and b/c it can beat the 4 frame landing of each character. Now there are also things that can make the shoto think they can srk you upon landing… ahem… faux safe jump, but I’ll talk about how that’s implemented at a later date.
