Nice vids - something I think might be helpful for you is learning how to hitconfirm better. You know the combos you have them down but palms aren’t safe from that close. Gouken is weird to confirm with though because you can’t just jab jab to find out if you’re hitting them or not lol

i honestly think they messed up on the paper plan of gouken, really, id like to see him have more life than he does, i mean for god sakes… they have a low hit points offensive akuma, and you have defensive ryu and offensive ken, why isnt gouken what he should be? a defensive high hit points character… its not like it would break him either. but i guess gouken isnt really supposed to be a shoto of any sort. itd just make more sense if he could withstand more damage.

Maybe when super faust fighter comes out you can make sure he has a double life bar.
He doesn’t need anything like that. I have no trouble vs any characters top ten list in super 4. Name em, I’ve beat em. Xbl only of course. This complaining is as tired as the stickied bnb’s everyone bites off eachother…

It’s a fair concern but Super was probably rebalanced to further cater to kiddies who want the path of least resistance. If Gouken’s tools were tweaked to make him better then lots of newcomers would cry “oh my god, he’s so Overpowered!!1!” I still remember when people questioned if he was tournament banned, haha.

Seeing the new videos are tempting me to start playing again after I get settled with my new job. Any of you use an HD capture card? HD PVR Product overview looks promising.

[media=youtube]hbbPQPx3gmc[/media] props to this gen player, dunno if this is a repost or not, but my buddy plays gen and he basically stopped playing because he couldnt compete with any character i played -.- maybe he just sucks tho. honestly in this match desora needed to control the air more.

also: denjin vs gen IMO. low stun/life and make him afraid of jumping at you. also after denjin free wakeup games since gens uppercut is butt.

meh… only one crouching roundhouse the entire match vs. Gen and that happened at 2:06. Knocking him on his ass safe jumping and crossing up is key to winning that match up , plus the cr. roundhouse is safe on block and it pushes Gen back enough where cr. fp will beats his follow up jump in. Also I didn’t see Gen empty jump once, so that means he could’ve ate a couple of kongos to push him back and start the zoning b.s.,…but that was a very aggressive Gen and he was very good with it too. Much props to Gen, hopefully Desora will beat him next time.

i would have said this too before i found out that palm > denjin doesnt work on him in the corner.

you still should have ex palm to mp palm to denjin. or ex palm,to hp hado to palm to denjin… thats like 40% damage 80% stun and a disgusting wakeup game after you land it. id still use it against gen.

u did well man. U messed up in a few combos that probably wouldve changed the outcome of most matches. But they were fun to watch. :slight_smile:

i tried all these combos against the entire cast.
gen is never high enough to get hit by denjin after a normal palm.
it doesnt work on sakura, viper or dee jay either.
i think that takes away one of the best things about denjin, which is (ex palm > mp. palm > denjin)
when i made that video i was really excited about denjin but after using it exclusively for two weeks on line, i realized i wasn’t winning as much as i was with shin sho.
i even said i liked denjin better than shin sho out of backthrow, which i now do not believe at all.
backthrow > shin sho is one of the strongest things about gouken.

Thanks bro. Yeah I especially messed up those last 2 rounds. Sometimes I avoided doing certain combos though since I always fear eating a flash kick especially when lag is an issue.

[]Don’t jump at Guile as a general rule. You don’t need to and Guile can punish you basically every time. Demon Flip is low reward and there’s a high probability you’re just get air thrown/flash kicked/cr.hp’d out of it. Of course wakeup divekick shenanigans are still good.

]The reason you don’t have to jump at him is that you win the fireball war easily. EX Sonic Boom sucks vs Gouken. Literally if you sit there throwing hadoukens he has to come to you. He has to because if he’s being a hardcore downbacker you can throw a charged hado and walk in on him, or even just the threat of chip damage. At far/mid range this matchup is all about Gouken forcing Guile to take a chance to get in. Guile needs to jump but Gouken has cr.hp, high/ex fireball/high kongo, and EX tatsu to punish that. It’s like Guile’s fighting Sagat only he can’t do meaty boom mixups, Gouken’s fireballs are harder (impossible?) to punish with a jump on reaction, and Gouken has better pokes than Sagat (I guess that’s an opinion thing). The only exception to the fireball trap is if Guile has Sonic Hurricane and charge. Then you need to be more careful.
[]Minor detail but in focus crumples prefer s.hp over cr.hp because it’s less weird and does more damage.

]It’s possible to hit-confirm the EX Palm in jump in, s.hp xx EX Palm. I would suggest doing that over a jab string. Jab strings are only useful to me for pushing someone out or ticking into throws. cr.hp xx fireball is probably better if you don’t want to do the s.hp xx EX palm because you can FADC into a full bnb on hit.

but EX to mp pal to denjin does work on everyone, just not with a hadou ( which scales it anyways) so its still really good…

i would definitely use denjin on gen viper and sakura. deejay on the other hand is shin sho. his wake up is too good too even worry about messing with. also a surprise fadc grab through his slide is pretty good, also buffer it when you try to meaty a fireball on him during wakeup. most deejays wont think about goukens recovery and try to bust with dread kicks or whatever its called.

really i only use shinsho when there are really good reasons to use it. like abels roll, fei longs chickin wing, chuns hozanshu and her jump. some people im still not sure about, like i guess adon, but both ultras have their uses against him. cody i dunno it seems if he miss times an EX slide thru your fireballs backgrab to shinsho would be better than backgrab do denjin…

also, i havent even played a competent sagat player in super yet, does c. LK go under TK? if hit does shinsho all the way.

I knew u were gonna come back to the shin sho. The denjin sounds great in theory but really is not practical. And lets be honest, gouken is pretty much the absolute king of comebacks and its mainly due to his backthrow into shin sho. That ultra, when full, is pretty much 50% damage on an average health character, or more like game over to low hp characters like akuma, seth and viper.

Here is a fight i had against akuma. Its the 3rd round that pretty much sums the shin sho. I love fighting akumas =) Btw u can just skip to 2:05 if u like to just get to it.
