makroplanar gave you some good advice.
in my opinion, don’t give sagat space.
i don’t think you should back off and let him throw fireballs.
he can’t jump on you because of c.hp.
just keep walking toward him, trying to stand in deep jump range.
sagat won’t like that and he will keep backing up.
while you are doing this, try to get a feel for when he throws fireballs.
once he is in the corner, he can’t stop you from standing in that range and he will be uncomfortable.
he is a lot easier to kill in the corner.
just sit in front of him and watch him sweat.
if sagat is willing to throw fireballs, you should be willing to jump.
if he is anti airing you with s.hk or tu, jump in with a df parry now and then.
if you get right next to sagat, ex demon flip can wreck his day.
if you ex df at the same time as a tu, you will evade its hitting frames and get a max punish with df kick.
if he doesnt tu, you can time a point blank ex df to cross up, hit from the front or throw, as long as he doesnt walk forward.
that is what i do when i fight sagat.
also, once you have convinced sagat not to jump on you, you can throw a few balls to start him back up.
if you ever palm through a fireball, you will push him into the corner very quickly.
Haha, wow. Thanks man, I feel really dumb right now ._.
And thanks for the rest of the advice, everyone.
recently against a Adon player with 4900PP, but after the game, I feel like this match up is getting better and better for Gouken. Zoning is the key. I lost though

To stop adons random jaguar kicks try standing medium kick. Although stop using this if he decides he wants to play footsies and use standing roudhouse. It will counter hit your standing medium kick clean. But standing medium kick, jump back roundhouse, and medium punch hadoken works wonders. this doesnt work if he has ex meter however. Ex jaguar kick gets in on your fireballs free. But this matchup definitely is getting better. Next stop…feilong?(
yes, medium kick. I even made a video but I found some smart Adons know about this ‘MK’ counter, and they change to different versions & different timing of jaguar kicks. We must need to out-smart the opponent and make him guess wrongly.

this matchup was pretty tough for me to deal with personally, but I’ve found it a lot easier lately. Punishing chicken wing with shin sho starts putting fei in check with the cw spam. I’d up some vids, but my ps3 YLOD’d.
No. You should post your own games. The point is for other people to discuss and improve your own game.
fei long is pretty tough if you dont counter his chicken wings. use cr. mk and if you prempt it enough cr fierce, he cant actually punish your fireballs unless he threw out the chicken wing before you even did a fireball. this is why i mostly use shinshoryu against fei, he does a chicken wing too late/early, goodbye to more than 50% of is balls. also, high counter really screws feilong up just out of grab range. the only low he has out of that is sweep and sweep can easily be busted.
also about adon, HIS U1 ISNT INVINCIBLE HAHAHAHHHH that means if he tries to fly through and hit you through your fireballs with it, and you did the medium/heavy fireball, he gets hit… lol…
I’ve gotten hit by it once though(though I also once hit it out of the air and those are the only 2 times Ive ever even seen his U1 XD).
VS Feis wings, I tend to stop them with Tatsu’s, though usually only with EX tatsu. I could do it with regular LK Tatsu in Vanilla, but just not faced enough Feis in Super to know if its the same with all the tatsu changes.
i figured i’d post some videos up, see what you guys think.
First match against final aura (ca)
starts around 24 mins
second match against keno (boxer)
starts around starts around 41 mins
Justin.tv - The Box Arena - Ranbat 1.4 Top 8 Part 2
my team tied for 6th.
Keno and I ran it back first to 3 off the stream, he took it 3-0 but all the rounds were close.
thoughts?
I remember seeing your name pop up in the stream that first match was good shit. You won that match pretty convincingly even without option select crouch tech only thing I would have changed would be to FADC that counter strike in the beginning of match 2 into palm(probably unnecessary), but you played that nice regardless. I don’t know what to say about the Keno match, it’s a tough draw. I think you’d have to Yomi counter to get him to respect you more, He’s too smart to throw pokes at you to focus through.
So, long time no Video. 2 New against a Sagat player and a Ryu player.
Both players have great skills.

There will be more Videos coming out with harder and better matches.
EDIT: Got problems with the Ryu video. i will reupload it tomorow.
That was some good reactions man. I didn’t even know you could recover in time.
Just a note on the sagat match, in which i think you did an awesome job of palm’ing thru his fireball shit. I counted three times in the match where you had the chance for a cr.fp > ex.palm > *, but you did a standard palm instead. especially right at the end, you could have done an ex.palm, dash, ultra to finish, but you hit the standard palm instead and luckily got the reset to end the match. Is there a method to that? I always hit two button for the ex in case I get it during the combo, just to extend the offense. Against sagat midscreen i’d probably do a dash sweep to end the combo, with a flip kick to extend the offense if he doesn’t have ex, otherwise a mp.palm or hk.tatsu depending on distance from corner.
against cammy, very nice footsies and throws. The only critic I really have is the corner combo you finished with a st.mk>flip. You can get more damage with a cr.fp>flip. Maybe you were going for a timing mixup, i dunno.
in the boxer matchup
you looked very timid. Don’t bother backing away from boxer, he likes that. keep in his face. You have to stay on offense in this matchup. focus and kongo to shut down that annoying jab/rushpunch game. He may have the fastest/best jab in the game, but you have the fastest move in the game with kongo. bait the hell out of that ex headbut/ultra combo he loves to do, with a safe jump or a dash forward block, and you get max punish.
the gouken focus in the balrog matchup isn’t strictly for hoping he hits into it, it’s part of the “gaining respect” aspect. once the intention to focus is established, the far.hk is much easier to throw out, and that puts you at a great distance for fireball chip and flip shenanigans.
I’ve had lots of fun with a mid-distance focus - dash forward - focus - *. very confusing for balrog.
@Artificeren: Keno murdered me for playing focus games. I was able to keep up later by watching his attack patterns and rushing him down when i saw the gaps. I don’t agree with throwing a focus anywhere near balrog, jab, roundhouse shuts down any of that quickly. Flip shenanigans get shut down with a jumping hp. Any fireball that didn’t follow standing/crouching fp will be ex/super/ultra’d
for the cammy match, yeah st.mk for the timing difference
@Immortal, cool, i didn’t know box arena streams were that popular.
I maybe managed one or two yomi counters on keno, but most of the damage came from the rush down.
So, here is the Ryu match.

**@artificeren **
Normally i use option select lp/hp-Palm at the same time, so it gets to an EX-Version when i have a Bar. If not a LP-Palm will get out. But i was to lazy to do that stuff in this moment. Another Note is, that i could use EX-Palm through his Fireballs in many situation, which i didnt use. Its more effective to prevent him from doing those projectiles. I also missed many offensive actions and did only a defensive game with a counter way. I wanted to try how it is to only use the defensive of gouken and i can tell you against really good players its a nightmare. Because once his defensive wall is broken the game is over. So the best way to solve this problem is to change your metagame from defensive to offensive and right back in many situations. Your opponent wants to punish fireballs, he wants to punish your demonflips, palms and counters, but when you suddenly make an offensive way, he have to think back.
