you are right, i dont go to tournaments.
you are wrong about the videos i post though.
i find the strongest player i can of a class, ask them to play a recorded 1st to 10 with me and post the entire set.
then i put commentary over the set that concerns the matchup from gouken’s point of view.
i am not the best gouken player, but what i am doing helps me get better from analyzing my losses and helps other players see gouken from the perspective of a player that takes the game seriously and only plays as gouken.
all i ever see you post is negative crap that doesnt help anyone so i dont take your criticism seriously but your lying about my project in the gouken video forum is worth a rebuttal.
Raun contributes all he can to the gouken forums and I find some of his insight very helpful. He is pretty damn good too btw
Yeah, not to sure what you’re all whiny about, he’s not a god-tier player but he does well with a difficult to use character…
Raunwynn is cool shit. played with him once before, and i mean his gouken was pretty wild
Losing match against sagat for this gouken, but a good reference point on what to do.

Shine’s Gouken is very good besides this bad match.
so many missed opportunities there, but shines gouken is nice
you sound like a petty little bitch in this post, he’s not tourament worthy but plays against tourney players and holds his own, but since he doesn’t compete actively in tourneys he’s ass? The fuck kinda warped logic is that? Not knocking your skill as a player as I don’t have a barometer to determine whether your game is GDLK or if you’re ass cheeks. You should post some vids to add weight to the words you choose. We should be happy that a competent gouken is posting matchup vids so we can disect and analyze Gouken further because as he stands a lot of the cast is looked at more favorably in high level play.
Agree with immort4l…
@ Raunwynn
If you’re looking for a cammy match then you’d want to play
Steinmania
He’s one of the few people in San Diego that can keep up with Shady K and Yeb consistantly.
I’d like to see how you deal with his rushdown and frametraps.
okay then take it from me, if you ever get a knockdown, know your safejump options and go for it. instead of back throw into tatsu go for j.mp (1 hit) into sweep, either demonflip dive kick or regular jump. this strategy will overall help you i guarantee it.
honestly tho, you cant really safe jump on cammy or zangief.
Zangief I know but Cammy? Why can’t you safe jump Cammy? Her reversal is 5 frames.
You can but it’s inconsistent, Cammy is probably the hardest person to approach from the air in the game. Why can’t you approach gief? EX SPD will win i guess but that’s it
…5 frames is safe jump-able. Period. You can safe jump Cammy and Sagat because their reversals are 5 frames. It’s not inconsistent, if you get the timing down it’s completely consistent. It might be kinda hard, but the reward is totally worth it. Daigo safe jumps Sagat all day.
Sigh … Gouken’s safe jump involves demon flip the timing to do it after sweep has a couple variables what frame is it pressed after sweep recovers?
There is also the issue of having to press the demonflip kick button which can add additional frames.
If you do the demonflip kick on 1st frame everything it will actually whiff on cammy/sagat because they have 2 frame slower wake-ups than most of the cast. Therefore pianoing and other techniques that guarantee it first frame cannot be used. While you can feel it out and safe jump and sagat/cammy most of the time a 1 frame difference in pressing a button is hard to feel and as such isn’t consistent. Any setup that isn’t guaranteed like after X move do this on 1st frame is going to have a level of inconsistency because of the human component regardless of the human. If your awesome you can probably do it 99% (I caan do it probably about 80-90%), but everytime just isn’t going to happen. That is the reason it’s inconsistent. Not because of a degree of randomness in the game.
Safe jumping sagat with ryu isn’t hard by the way. I do it most of the time, but the timing is a “feeling” and as such even diago messes it up. He goes for it everytime, and he gets away with some that aren’t because people are afraid it could be. If people uppercut daigo on wake-up 100% when he went for that safe jump he would get hit sometimes (and does in vids) and your fooling yourself to believe anyone can hit it 100%. Maybe a majority but not every.
Humans just don’t have the facitlity to hit shit at 1/60th of a second 100% of the time. That’s the reason top players use plinking because 2 frames is perfectly within the realm of human 100% rate, but not 1/60th of a second.
lol…
actually, i didnt know cammys cannon spike was that slow on start up, i knew from sagat you can safe jump but not cammy, its kinda nice for that info but i dont really think its going to put the match up any more “even” than it is now… what a bad matchup.
gouken has so many problems… sigh…
Yeah but just because a safe jump dive kick isn’t practical doesn’t mean a normal safe jump isn’t practical. And like you said, even if you don’t get it 100% of the time if you do it once or twice people are gonna stop reversaling.
it seems like the df kick crossup is better than df kick safe jump against cammy and sagat.
the timing to get it to crossup is hard, but even a loose attempt will cause tu’s and cannon spikes to whiff.
loose attempts can also stuff cannon spike from crossup or from the front.
why would df kick safe jump be preferable to that?
i have played a few short sets with steinmania and he dominates me every time.
honestly though, i cant think of a good player that has a cammy i can beat.
draykaden, steinmania and ca teknique all smash me on a regular basis with cammy.
i played against bokkin and was fairly even against his akuma but his cammy smashed me 9 games in a row.
i probably have some kind of mental block against the character but she also has a perfect array of offensive techniques for dealing with gouken.
gouken has trouble throwing fireballs or jumping against her and that is most of my regular game.
i am really looking forward to recording with draykaden so i can see what i am doing wrong rather than just looking at the scoreboard afterward, wondering wtf happened.
It isn’t any more practical than the demonflip safejump. Gouken has the best safe jumping in the game just Cammy and Sagat are the hardest to do. Any Gouken worth his salt can do it quite a bit, but than again you can do the almost crossup version on both of them and get them to whiff. However, this can beaten if either version do LK or LP version of uppercuts.
How do you feel about crossing up cammy?
Jumping for a j. MK crossup is suicide … doesn’t matter if her upper doesn’t auto-correct it wins 99% of the time.
