A few of these are good, but a lot of them are just bad choices. At 0:25 for instance, you use 3 EX meters to do less damage than you would with dash forward -> HK tatsu. A lot of these are the same thing - they’re fancy but absolutely useless in matches because there’s always a better option.
Plus, you shouldn’t demonstrate combos against Akuma, it should be against someone with 1000 sta.
Yeah, you still get a chunk of damage and maybe more if they get hit. Mix up with a parry or grab.
Some nice offense in here

nice
Damn man a double perfect. That has to hurt.
Nice vids Adamski. I left a few comments. I see you doing senku after a back grab, I believe tatsu does more damage if all hits connect. And doing ex senku is a waste of bar since the second hit never connects. Post more dude!
Awesome vids all round, especially SiYkO’s last one.
Thanks for the great video…!
Hope we have more coming… would love to learn more from you guys on how to maximize Gouken’s potential… hopefully we can have more clips showing how to deal with Blanka, Sagat, and Bison…

After an FA you should probably stop doing back throw into ultra… Might as well just do the raw ultra (I would assume, though I’ll test for sure when I get home) It does more damage to do just ultra… Or at the end of that first round when you were sitting on three stock you probably could have gotten more damage for st.fp xx ex palm, fadc ultra, or st.fp xx fireball, fadc, st.fp xx ex palm blah blah blah. Just something funny I noticed figure I would point it out.
I did pick lots of bad combo choices (especially in the last match), but back throw doesn’t count as a hit, so scaling doesn’t matter. I do back throw if I’ve already bfufered the dash, it’s just easier to suddenly say ‘oh he crumpled’ and input back throw instead of qcf qcf+ppp. Much more reliable - plus it can be used for positioning.
My choices in high-damage combos sucks, definetly, but that is very easy to improve, i’m trying to work on other areas.
Yeah I totally get that. Combos are mostly an after thought, go with what works, if you would have lost cause of bad combo choice that would be a different story, but you won so all is well.
2 grabs in a row off that demon flip… wicked. The poor sagat probably didnt have time to finish a “WTF!” before the 2nd one hit him.
BTW, do u really feel that the HK Tatsu is a better ender for the EX rush palm? I know it does more damage but i feel that u lose the initiatve cos it gives the opponent time to recover at abt the same time u land.
Wow, nice comeback on the balrog in the 2nd round. First time watching a gouken player actually do good. Really makes me wanna take the old boy to the training mode. Good stuff and would love to see more.
@ SiYkO
I’ve noticed that in your youtube 2 matches vs vega, you used a lot of c.lp c.mp whatever
but in this last youtube you stopped using that and your most used “poke” was c.lp s.lp s.lp s.lk and then whatever…
Maybe i’m too paranoid, but i’m still learning gouken and i didn’t knew i could poke with c.lp s.lp s.lp s.lk until i saw you.
Is it better poke than c.mp?
By the way, i’ve learned i have to use more d,f,d/f+k and Focus dash into throw by watching your vids.
You rock.
My main poke after s.lk in the poke string is still c.mp. There are a few times when I don’t do anything and just see how they react though. I do use c.mp a few times in that video after the string. When I don’t do anything, it’s mostly information gathering, and partial turtling.
I do highly prefer Tatsu instead of rush palm in that combo. The damage is higher - and they end up on the other end of the screen. That is exactly where I want to be against almost everyone - I’m more than happy to give up some initiative at this position because it’s just not important at long range.
it’d be nice, if the rankings/leaderboarded listed the top players for each character. ~_~
i wonder who’s been successful with Gouken besides SiKyO and RagingstormX? :wonder:
Nice… Very nice.
