Gouken Videos

Very interesting. No doubt it would throw some people off, but if they block it or the move whiffs, I can imagine quite the punishment coming because of the crazy recovery that Tatsu comes with.

@ Rebound

Valle won the Game Lab tournament today strictly using Gouken, through winners bracket.
He’s not his main but I think Valle is the 1st to have won a west coast tournament using Gouken and that’s pretty good for us Gouken players ^^ or so I believe ^^;

Also Sanford won a tournament w/ Gouken aswell a couple months back.

But then again, wont gouken be too far for any kind of punishment(harsh at least), besides ultras like chuns(which might be hard bc of the cross up after all) or abels?

No I understand, and I’ve started looking for some of this videos as well. But, for instance, he played the Game Unicon (I think) Grand Finals against Marn, and he used Ryu. I’m not saying he can’t main Gouken, I’m just think he mains Ryu over everyone’s favorite April Fool’s Day joke.

Ah ok I get you.

If he had timed it sooner, it would’ve also been an overhead that Sagat wouldn’t have been able to crouch. :stuck_out_tongue:

Gouken aka: “The Broken”

I haven’t had the time to test this myself because I’m out of town at the moment, but looking at this Air Tatsu cross-up again, how viable of a confusion tactic would it be use an EX Air Tatsu and then steering it back and forth above the guy as they complete their wake-up?

I reckon it’s viable, just not on anyone with a half decent wake-up reversal. There’s always the possibility they’ll mess up the input if you go back and forth, but the game autocorrects most things anyway.

If anything it does good chip damage and there’s a high chance that it’ll trade.

Take a bit of practise getting it low enough to connect (sagat is MASSIVE!) but look forward to hearing your results!. PS: What’s your technique for this? JUMP & Tatsu before you land or JUMP TATSU in one motion?

looks like a dam good tactic, umm wonder if differs on smaller opp compared to taller ones liek exp sagat, gief. Or opp with wider hix boxes exp ehonda, etc etc

There’s definitely cross-over on wake-up potential with this. Also if you encorporate EX Tatsu tactics it could potentially be the “drive-by” of Tatsu attacks.

It seems overall that the risk/reward is med-high/low though… Any takers?

lmao the drive by of all cross over’s lol…ROFLLLLLl iam fuckign dying right now lol…dam wish i had 360 so i can test that…next time i play with my ppl ill jsut try it on there wake up to get used to doing it i guess. trial/error:tup:

Just got a stick about a week ago and decided to start learning Gouken. Messing around with the ex demon flip into ultra. If you hit them low it pops them up just enough to land the full ultra.

this is a real bugger to land in a live match, and not worth the risk / reward in my opinion, as you said you really DO have to land on their toe. keep the vids coming tho…

Well it’s the truth though. You can control the speed of j.ex.tatsu. You can slowly move backwards if you were originally going forward, or you can SPEED across the board going forward if you hold forward. If you were to cross over and connect early enough you could say, hit Sagat in the back of the head while going forward. If he blocked you’re still safe because you sped forward.

yeah i know, how to use it dam we alwasy seem to be on here at te sme dam time

my friend coming over later so ill try some ne stuff with ex tatsu cross ups
haveing no xbox sux

It does differ.

If you’re talking about that 1-frame or so when your opponent’s hitbox is freakin huge on wakeup, yeah, most everyone will not be able to crouch it (and it’s a true overhead attack).

But if you combine the different get-up speeds, your ability to activate it at different points in your jump, and the fact that each kick is only active for two frames… that’s a very hard meaty to time correctly.

Against characters that can’t normally crouch the kicks (are there any?) this would be awesome though.
