Thx iam, yeah lp palm seems to useless I’ve had to adjust my meterless punishes since st.mp ,cr.hp fireball fadc cr.hp mp palm doesn’t always combo. Very annoying since the opp will be crouching and you can’t sub a tatsu for the last palm. I miss my lp palm in combos. The new one has almost no use in footsies on first impressions, very annoying

gouken vs yun. someone asked in another thread how to deal with amateur yuns so i capped the last yun i played to show how i’m currently approach the match.
Looks like the plan is the same as it is for bison. Get on the offense and stay there as long as you can.

Inhales…Exhales I missed this Thread T_T. I’m finally back to playing the game again(stopped playing once AE was brought over to Chinatown Fair, R.I.P,…and now Next Level) and I must say I love new gouken. My main fear is the blanka matchup. How The hell am I supposed to punish blanka balls now??? sure its great being able to catch combos off Jab and Short not to mention Jab palm being somewhat of an OK reversal now but the many uses it had before were important. Well the trad-offs are great though. Tatsu being able to be executed after walking backwards is epic. I havent used it yet but its only a matter of time :).
Anyone else still getting used to gouken’s changes? I only played him a handful of times in AE before console release so I havent practiced enough. Although I did get some good matches in when I did play. My ditto matches with Osiris at Next Level were really helpful. ok imma stop now before I go on for too long Xp. Anyway, sup guyz lol
You still have to be standing up but dash and sweep will work. Probably a 1 frame link, much easier if you plink the c.hk.
Today i could really play very long with Gouken. Iam still using his Counter, but not that much like before in normal edition. Now there are more dangerous Situations to use Kongo and also really weird ones. Another thing is what i really miss is, that his moving lp.palm is completly gone. His new lp.palm is good for some blockstrings, frametraps and catching FAs on closecombat, but his zooning game got weaker without it.
I really would love this Gouken if he wouldnt had this 2 bad changes, still iam trying to get into this new Gouken.

I use the new palm for two things since it has less range then a standing jab…
In Super You could only punish hard if the opponent did something super unsafe. Now with the new palm you can use the 3 frame st.cl.mk to punish and then combo into palm pushing them across the screen to give you breathing room. In super you could do a jab punish for around 100 damage. and they would still be pretty close and not knocked down.
The other thing is, while it’s no c.lk hit confirm into a punish, I can safely do a low attack (c.lk or c.mp xx lp palm) on wakeup and combo into something causing a knockdown. I like to use it once or twice for added damage. If it is blocked you are safe from most things. I won’t say all, cause I haven’t tested it, but I have yet to be punished. It pushes you out further then Akumas c.mk.

i like the air hurricane section- @16:40 or so , remember not only can you jump in with jmp>air hurricane on tall characters. you can also jump AT them and cancel in to hurricane…great for dudes like myxxed with that sick air tatsu timing!!!
