Not just you. He’s not bad, but he’s too random and doesn’t punish hard enough.

Desora isn’t bad, but IMO it’s not that he plays like garbage but moreso he doesn’t take full advantage of Gouken’s AE differences. In fact, I’ve yet to see a Gouken that does. I’ve seen some cl.MP use, but zero use of cl.MK, a 3f normal, and cl.HK, a 4f normal that is +frames on hit and is neutral on block. Not to mention a 9f armor-breaking special that knocks down and is -4 on block with pushback.
I like Desora´s Gouken.
He isnt garbage in no way. But guys… are you blind or something ? If you didnt notice the awsome Gouki Player, then i dont know what i can say about it.
In the last round Desora had pretty much the game on his side. But he did one mistake and the Gouki Player took advantage from this situation. Desora didnt get the grab of the dive throw which can be really strict to get sometimes and after that he failed against the frametrap mixup for the first time in this match. And that was the reason why Desora lost. A wrong Decision which can be fatal in high level play.
I really wanna see how you guys are competing against those players. I guess, that sometimes there are to many talk-shows going on here.

imo credit just has to go to the akuma player just being really good, it’s not really the easiest matchup either. I will agree Desora isn’t the strongest gouken, but he’s up there. I think what sets him apart is that he takes risks. Gouken can’t really effectively rushdown, and his mixups are a little limited, but Desora doesn’t know how to play lame effectively, he can be a bit random. Gouken is a lame character so I’d say the character probably doesn’t suit him.
Ya Desora is an offensive Player and Gouken has not many offensive tools. Some long time ago i told him to do more fireballs, but he wants to do more stuff without them. He is going more for the close combat. But thats what i like about Desora. He is trying to find new ways to get some offensive pressure. And this is pretty important if you dont want to get to predictable with gouken.

Yeah, you can’t discredit -6 at all. He is a sick player…his Cammy is incredible as well.
I do think if Desora delved further into Gouken’s toolset, though, he wouldn’t have to play as risky as he does when he applies pressure. A lot of Gouken’s changes were designed in improving his offense.
Its funny you mention that, I’ve been playing a lot of dudley lately, and recently I decided to play the old man after not having touched him for a while. the result was my wanting to do shit up close, which is incredibly stupid especially against makoto. I should have been zoning the entire time.

If you do s.mp xx hado and they block it you gave up your advantage on block basically. I’d rather do s.mp -> cr.hk than add a fireball and risk losing my advantage.
So you can’t do s.mp -> s.mp -> cr.hk?
I don’t think either one is an airtight block string, but you are able to frame trap after the hado hits with cr. Lk or cr.mp > hado, gf, or bait.
Cr. Roundhouse is very good to use in strings, but it’s suspect to reversals and focus attacks. And is very good for pushing them back some.
There are some cross up set ups within the traps too. For example st. Mp > LP HADO > cr. Mp > hk gf dive kick. Crosses most of the cast up.
You can also inflict cheap chip damage using an alt. String.
CR. roundhouse is good but not unless it hits Gouken has limited pressure options.
