a few more matches of Desora on NYE. I noticed at 20:17 he crossed up his opponent with jumping short, maybe this is possible in chocolate but I’ve never used it(crossed someone up and stayed on the same side). Was it always possible to cross someone up in the corner in this manner? I do this with Dudley from time to time.
akuma’s j.lk is unblockable under some conditions, he may be basing his use of gouken’s j.lk on that.
j. lk as a cross up has worked since Vanilla. You can also use it to stuff a lot of shit on wake up including srk. The stun isn’t that great on it though, so when you land it you usually have to transition to light attacks, which is ok in AE b/c you can link to palm.
Anyone know if that Gouken player named, “Ver” is the same Ver that mained Cody back in SFA3?

awesome matches. i don’t like how he went for a reset after a exPalm in the corner instead a fireball Tatsu. The tatsu would’ve done enough damage to take him out so there was no need to take such a risk.
and close s.mk to fireball loop block string is an awesome mindfucker.
I also liked that cl mk to fb string a lot
Yeah close staning mk into fireball almost brought tears to my eyes, that was amazing. Also loved the DF dive kick into close standing mp into jab shenanigans. Doesn’t look like much can come of it other than normals after the first or second jabs, but it’s still a nice addition to his footsies game.
Also saw the diagonal jump mp xx tatsu cancel once in there against either Yang or Guy I believe. That’s going to be one of his most solid air-to-air AAs hands down.
I haven’t looked forward to multiple hours of training mode like this in a long time. :tup:

At 23:58 Alex Valle Using Gouken.
Right at the beginning of the of his second match (against Yun), he gets a dj.rh xx cl.st.hp xx lp.palm.
Take a look at the distance between Gouken and Yun after he lands the air-roundhouse. Is that the normal distance to be able to land close standing fierce? Is that just max range at close distance or could there be a change in AE? And the fact that he actually hit the palm too.
Am I mistaken or is that different? I was slightly surprised.
yea that cl.fp was surprisingly far. Dunno about that, loving the damage though

Also to add in I play on xbox and I was using someone elses TE while playing on PS3 which THERE IS A DIFFERENCE!

That is not quite true. Not really anything Blanka can do that is unpunishable by Gouken. You do have to play good, but long as you know his options and prepare to counter them well enough, it is quite beatable.

You did do a good job against stopping the grabs (and the slow/fake rolls to grab), but the blocking problems and not punishing the easy to punish specials did you in (ihmo).

Number 1) Simply put Blanka scares me. My reaction time to his balls (lol) is horrible. I need to work on spacing and using more projectiles so he cant slide under them and ofcourse watch his meter. I didnt have a solid gameplan when fighting him.
Number 2) You can only punish his balls (double lol) If your standing with LP palm I am aware of this. If your standing then you can get sweept off your feet. I forgot all about spacing and trying to zone with projectiles and kept my mind to much on jabing him out of his balls. Due to me not haing a solid gameplan I was just scared the whole time and missed changes to punish him. I should have been throwing projectiles and back dashing to create space and watching his meter for ex ball. I need much work on this matchup.
Number 3) No not random just wrong guessed ultras. Anytime im fighting adon or blanka and an ultra comes out like that I thought they were going to do a blanka ball or jag kick. I guessed wrong and payed for it.
I never fight blanka and I dont know anyone who plays them besides the guys at the tourny and I think they play on psn. Its hard for me to get casuals due to my job so Xboxlive is usually my training ground. I need to find a blanka player and fight him to the death lol. Learning matchups in this game can be very frustrating.
Guessing is considered random. I’m not criticizing you, just telling you. Random has a negative connotation so I know it sounds like I am insulting you but I am not.
When I notice people trying to punish my blocked dash punches with something to slow, I’ll purposely do a dash punch to get it blocked and follow up with Ultra 1 on their too slow attempted punish to land the Ultra. This is still considered random as the player is not guaranteed to throw out the slow punish.
I consider it a calculated risk based on prior actions of my opponent.
