Thats like a 1-frame link, and works in the corner only. It has its uses. But theres easier stun combos to do that work on everyone.
oh damn didnt know that it only worked on gief …i was wrong
Nice videos by everyone. I learned bits from every video especially from Siyko. I just started SF4 2 days ago and I am in a very bad losing streak (probably because I’m nervous). These videos really motivated me. Thanks guys.
Some1 needs to do one of those Annotated Matches that Mickey D’ is doing for Ryu in here. Would love to understand how some ppl think when playing with Gouken.
I thought about doing something like this, but i don’t know if there’d be much interest in it - i’ll try this on another video
I would definitely be interested in this and I’m sure others would aswell.
No, most people here are uninformed. It works on ALOT of characters.
Also, to the guy who said there’s easier combos that do that much stun(100% on some characters)…care to list these combos? Or are you just talking out your ass?
How dare you insinuate im talking out of my ass.
j.fierce -> s.fierce xx jab FB xx FADC -> cr.fierce xx ex palm -> fierce FB -> ex FB -> cr.fierce xx demon flip throw does 1100 stun.
j.fierce -> s.fierce xx ex palm xx FADC -> jumping mk -> dash behind -> s.Fierce xx ex palm -> fierce palm does 1000 stun.
I said combos dude. Those arent combos
Yeah, theyre set-ups. Not combos, my bad on the terminology. Theyre still easier to do then your combo.
yeah not wanting people to steal my combo but this does too much damage, and is my signature stuff in the corner=
any kengoshin, FADC forward, EX hadou into either St. fierce or ULTRA.
after any kengoshin in the corner, you can also get a FADC, jab hadou, standing fierce.
MIDSCREEN KENGOSHIN you can go FADC either mk.tatsu or lk. tatsu. fierce comes out too slow, have not tried EX tatsu yet, let me know what you guys think.
i think alot of ppl will appreciate it. Take a look at wat Mickey D’ did. I dunno how well u can talk through while playing though but that would be great if u could. But if that is not possible, then an analysis after the game is just as good. Oh, and i mentioned on the Ryu thread as weel, dun always post winning games. Some losing games would be informative especially if u can sit down after that to analyse wat went wrong. But dun lose on purpose. XD
Wow, dude, u need to be less defensive man. Ur combo aint the be all and end all corner. I aint a fan of it and i’ll list 2 reasons why. Note that i have done this combo in training countless times so i do know how this works.
Fact is that it needs to start deep in the corner. Gouken has no problem pushing ppl into the corner but to start a combo that deep in the corner, especially with a HP, would be highly situational. A normal jump-in will be easily punished by almost any1 with a good wake-up move; that means just abt every character in this game. The only way i can see this happening against good players is off a FA and even that is kinda iffy. The good thing abt Gouken’s EX palm “corner” combos is that they dun necessarily have to start off in the corner.
The fact that the combo ends with a Tatsu while in the corner also means that u lose the initiative; ie opponent recovers just as fast as u. I used to end my EX palm corner combos with Tatsu until i realised how much of a disadvantage I gave myself by doing this. This means that u can’t apply the pressure to add that final hit that will take him into stun and that defeats the purpose of wasting all 4 bars of EX. U could alternatively change that c.HP -> lp fireball after the 1st FADC into c.HP -> EX palm -> combo but that would effectively make it less stun (if u want to keep it clean as a full combo) or make it very much similar to what rhymeswithaddy’s suggested for his “combos”. Except his is a little more simpler than urs in the fact that he doesn’t have to link his c.Hp after the lp fireball. Also note that u dun have to start his combo deep in the corner. It works pretty well abt 3 to 4 cells (if u use the training room grids) off the centre making it alot more feasible.
No where has Gilley ever said it was the end all corner move, I dont know if he has ever even said it was a good one. Its just the highest stun combo available, and its super neat that he even discovered the ability to do it.
All he said was that people are misinformed saying its a zangief only combo, when it works on most nonsmall type characters.
I only reply to threads when someone point them out to me to be awesome-o stupid and I find it hilarious.
Congratulations.
You realize this combo does 100% stun to the majority of the cast right? So ending with a tatsumaki doesn’t matter since THEY’RE STUNNED AFTERWARDS. The combo is extremely good, and useful since not only is the damage good, it STUNS THEM for more damage.
It’s not the end all combo, since it has requirements… like meter and positioning, but it’s a great great great great combo if those conditions are met. You’re basically stating that this combo is useless, when in fact, if you have the chance to land it, it is the combo you should be aiming for. Basically maximum potential damage for gouken in the given situation.
I like how someone who just joined last month, is telling an extremely veteran member of the fighting game community something is useless, when said person has been playing the game for longer than almost everyone in America, and knows more about this game(literally) than pretty much anyone in the states.
If you don’t like the combo, that’s fine. If you, like you stated, have done this combo multiple times, and knows how it works, you would know the usage and why it’s a good combo. You recognize the faults, congrats, all combos have faults(such as meter usage, or damage potential if it doesn’t use meter). But you completely disregard why this combos is AMAZINGLY good and don’t even give legitimate reasoning as to why.
Let’s see how long it takes for me to make another post on srk.com.
Edit
Rhymes with haddy: Resets are considered combos… since when? Dude, I have this awesome combo that does 100% and 100% stun s.fierce s.fierce s.fierce s.fierce s.fierce s.fierce s.fierce s.fierce s.fierce s.fierce s.fierce.
The coolest part is it works WITH EVERY CHARACTER ON EVERY CHARACTER!
The point of a combo is that, after the first hit, they’re helpless to get out of the rest.
Ignoring all the trolls, retards…Snarky, in response to your initial post where you linked that quick video I did, you asked if this “opens a new can of worms” and “new possiblities”. Yes this combo opens new possibilities. The important thing to remember is that you can combo AFTER Gouken’s FB. When people see that video, they don’t see this, they just see a big combo that does alot of stun. I just updated the SRK wiki with the frame data for the new characters. If you notice, Gouken is at +6 frame advantage after he hits with a FB. This allows him to do a bunch of stuff after it. You can use your imagination to come up with other combos using this. Other people will just shrug it off or say it only works on gief(like SiKyO said). This is totally false though. If you go into training mode for 2 minutes, you will soon realize that you can combo after a FB on EVERYBODY. You are 100% correct though Snarky, this opens up new possibilities.
rhymeswithaddy i have a combo that does more stun than your “combos” and is even easier to do than yours. jump roundhouse > crouch roundhouse, repeat. It does infinite stun/damage
Kwani23 you seriously need to STFU. No one was even talking to you. I called rhymeswithaddy out on his “combos” cause I knew there was no other combos that do as much stun as the combo in that video(yet). I was right. If anyone can come up with a combo that does more stun, then please post it. I have no problems with that.
i say gilley needs to settle this…online! :woot:
i can’t believe people can’t see the most blatant advantage to stunned opponents is that they’re not hitting you…so ‘duh’. stun combos are just as important as damage combos…
Are you joking? playing the game longer than everyone else in America? Knows more about it than literally anyone in the states?? What are you basing this off of?
This combo stuns. What does a stun mean? It means I get to do another combo - except this combo is HORRIBLY scaled after this first combo.
If I do an EX Palm combo, I get more damage out of it than you would out of your stun combo + followup combo, and i leave my opponent with a near-full stunbar, you leave him empty. I also use less EX meter. EX Palm combo is better in every concievable way, unless there’s a combo that can be done after this stun combo that can make up for that lack of damage. THEN it is better in one (out of three) respects, but from what I can tell, it’s 0.
Basically its:
stun combo + followup combo = 550~ damage, 4 ex meters, empty stun
ex palm combo = 580~ damage, 2-3 ex meters, semi-full stun.

You don’t know who I am do you? I bought an arcade SF4 last year. So yeah, I have been playing this game longer than everyone in America.
did i quote you?
Does that matter? U can be Obama and i still would retort at ur reasoning if it didnt make sense. Even albert einstein acknowledges his mistakes and his own shortcomings. Failing to see the point of others shows how shortsighted u are and how blinded u are by ur own ego.
Are my points incorrect in anyway? No. U can’t dispute the fact that there isn’t many opportunities to pull the combo out. Saying this might even be an understatement. The correct word would be rare.
Have i given u credit for it? yes! I’ve said that it’s a spectacular combo. I’ve mentioned that the fact that u lp fireball -> FADC -> combo is something to take note off.
But is ur combo a better choice than what rhymeswithaddy mentioned? I think not because of its limitations which i have pointed out and which u probably didn’t bother to read.
So maybe u need to come out of ur little well and look at the world from a bigger perspective. BTW, i live in Asia. The gaming scene here is alot more intense and i think few would dare say that the americans are better. I’ve learned alot from seeing things from other ppl’s point of view (both in this forums and in real life), maybe its time u take some time to look at others.
