Man, I had to take some time away from SF4. So I haven’t been doing any videos. I prob post some videos of me playing endless the next couple of days and yap about that and my thought process and all. But it’s mostly my srubby Oni, and occasional guest appearances by Gouken.
I haven’t been doing any ranked with Gouken, only with Oni (My XBOX GT for him is Lynx Galore) only training mode and occasional endless.
You don’t. You do a HK (maybe MK) demon flip for pressure. I’ll start a Blanka Matchup thread for you to populate. You can dive kick, throw, or parry anything that he wants to follow up with and sweep his backdash.
No, U1 still takes the cake even with backthrow nerf. 400 damage is 400 damage. A stun that counts as two more hits in your god damn combo counter is crap. You have to do some crazy ass shit with U2 in order to get anything near a shin so damage and it isn’t like there are any amazing/guaranteed set ups to even land denjin into juggle.
I only need one EX to dash into shin sho, or a back throw, or an anti air fireball in the corner, or Kongo FADC shin sho in the corner.
If that works for you, then great. I’m not choosing an Ultra based upon how much chip it gives though, especially in a game where almost every character with an EX bar stocked has some way out of fireball chip.
Numerical vs who? It doesn’t really matter. If you are losing to Gouken chances are the guy is just way better then you. The best way to beat Gouken is to not beat yourself. What I mean by that is, don’t take any chances that if you picked wrong, lead to a full punish.
Personally I feel the Gen matchup is in Gouken’s favor. Makoto though… I’m pretty sure that’s your favor. Don’t go crazy with your command throws with Makoto as those are max punish opportunities when you choose wrong.
Makoto can only back dash, Ultra, or jump out of GF Grab on her wake up. He can also time the safe jump fairly high to make her EX Grab whiff absorb on wake up and punish her, the timing is pretty much the same. Gouken can get all in Makoto’s ass using this set up and she has to guess right out of the situation or give up damage, and it only takes one knock down. Much like Akuma’s hammer fist set up, but you have no armor break.
She has the option to focus, but you also have the option to grab her ass, or stuff her reversal with dive kick so the odds aren’t in her favor, and when she doesn’t have EX you can just dive kick her low.
If he’s doing any of this, then it can be tough for her. If he’s just throwing hado’s, I’d like to see what he’s doing myself, b/c I’ve never been able to beat good Makoto’s with just using hados, one focus absorb and she’s practically in your face.
Eh I zone Makoto as best I can with hados, her Focus Dash carries her right into your sweep. Her Ultra 2 is nothing to fear either as mp fireball stops it cold. Makoto has to guess on the fireball cause if they wait to confirm the Ultra is too slow.
