If you are new to Gouken and/or if you just can’t seem to put it together you can vent here: http://shoryuken.com/f268/gouken-frustration-thread-go-ahead-let-out-219757/ One must be able to put all of these things together and unlock the secrets within to master Gouken.
The key to the vortex is to knock them down with untech’s and keep attacking their wake up with safe jump ins that will lead you to a grab, frame trap, untech, or combo/block string that allow you to keep them in the loop (mainly finding a way to transition back to Gouken Flip). Once you’ve attained any of these you repeat the vortex loop, until your opponent can find a way out.

Here is a great example of starting the vortex up with an untech and safe jump.

Here is some guidance on to how the Vortex works, you will need to understand safe jumping mechanics (look above) to grasp the timing and property aspects to discover the secrets within. (Gouken Flip Dive Kick no longer hit’s over head, but you can still use a well timed d+mk on their wake up to get the over head during mix up (very small window). http://shoryuken.com/f268/gouken-vortex-yeah-i-said-212934/ and Safe Jumping

Abel:

Spoiler

http://www.shoryuken.com/wiki/index.php/Abel_(SSFIV)

-spam cr. lp or grab him to stop his rolls. This match up is a lot easier if you can slow him down and the cr. lp spam works very well.
-Wheel Kick- EX Tatsu or lp palm it, you can’t jump away from it at close range
-Command Grab- Neutral Jump it for > a free punish
-I normally use Shin-Sho against him. It seems to keep him from rolling around so much b/c if you can back throw him it’s trouble. If you can land forward throw on a regular basis and you don’t have a problem pressuring him, Denjin could be another viable option.
-Some of his normals hit twice vs. once, learn the difference between them. - The normals that hit once are usually the ones that he tries to command throw after.
-his f+mk= I normally back dash or EX GF out to avoid the command throw… if I get punished, it’s normally not a full punish. Most of the time they try to roll back in to get in close.
-he can cross you up with j. mk from a pretty fair distance- if you see it Kongo the shit out of him
-his 3 hit turn around combo- he can finish high, mid, or low. Learn the differences b/c if you block them, they lead to easy punishes for Gouken.
-cr. fp- works well as AA
-You can cross him up easily- He can only EX roll out, but you can empty jump and throw him
-Safe jumps work- Except on his EX Tornado throw-
-If he is standing on the other side of the screen, more than likely he wants you to throw fb’s so he can level up his Ultra. Throw the 2 hit instead and try forcing him to block one. Once he does, EX GF over there while he still is in stun and pressure him.
-st. mp- acts somewhat like a fake lp hado, this can encourage him to roll so you can get a free punish
-U2 (Breathless)- You can’t grab him out of it even if he is charging, and EX GF makes you land directly behind him If he’s activated it. Shin-Sho also owns it at point blank range, so if they charge up directly in front of you let them eat a free Ultra 1 (I would suggest mastering the timing to activate the Ultra right after his so he can’t cancel or punish you before you activate your Ultra). I also either jump away or use air tatsu to get away from him if Ultra is not available. Another tricky thing you can do is use a hk GF and jump over his head. He can catch your Denjin and Palm before they start up so if he is up close I wouldn’t recommend either one, not unless you have optimal spacing.

Adon:

Spoiler

http://www.shoryuken.com/wiki/index.php/Adon_(SSFIV)

I don’t know a lot on Adon yet, but here’s what I do know.

-Mp hado mix up can own the skies
-cross him up
-his rising jaguar kick- if you block it, it gives you a max punish
-Denjin owns his dive kicks
-safe jump him and pressure him with mix ups
-If he gets in close, be patient and wait for the punish
-use neutral jump to bait a rush in attack- if he whiffs he can rising jaguar you. Wait for it and then max punish.
-if you use Gouken Flip after hado, he doesn’t seem to have alot of solid answers
-cross him up
-Jaguar Tooth is probably his best move

Akuma:

Spoiler

http://www.shoryuken.com/wiki/index.php/Akuma_(SSFIV)

-There ARE windows to beat the reversal srk, get in training mode, get creative and learn them and hold them close. You can either attack the frames after invincibility wears off and stuff it, or you can faux-safe jump it and bait/punish the reversal.
-His primary pressure option you need to fear is his Gouken specific Vortex. He will mix that up with palm and throw and you will be forced to guess your way out, or use and EX Gouken Flip to get off the ground. EX Tatsu, Denjin, EX GF, and blocking can help you evade the palm. Neutral Jump, Back dash and EX GF can help you avoid the throw. His st. hk is fast too, but it doesn’t pressure you like his vortex, b/c you can just block and tech it.
-Palm through his Fireballs unless he has Ultra, if he has Ultra Gouken Flip over to dive kick or to throw him
-Air Fireballs - I palm through them to tag him, you can also Focus absorb to build your meter up
-If he doesn’t have an Ultra Kongo his strings when you notice he hasn’t gone for a grab in a while. EX is best covers high and low attacks
-Bait him to a fireball war, you want him to block atleast one so you can apply direct pressure with EX GF and force him to make a mistake
-j. mp stuffs all of his Demon Flip options if you are already standing
-He has a very good Focus attack, so be aware of focus fishers. If he catches one of your cr. roundhouse’s, then it can be a bad day for Gouken.
-His tatsu doesn’t have armor break
-Learn the spacing of his air hado- Learn which ones you can Kongo and which ones you need to block
-If you are able to knock him down for an Untech- meaty Denjin him, if he teleports out punish him
-Kongo his air Tatsu > his vortex
-When he is in close, be ready to block and tech
-cr. roundhouse often follows cr. mk., use kongo unless he has a stocked super or ultra. He will some times 2 in 1 to a hado and it will hit you. You’ll normally see this if he has 2 or more stocked EX bars. The best thing to do if he has EX is to just block and be ready to tech and hope he burns it.

Balrog Boxer:

Spoiler

http://www.shoryuken.com/wiki/index.php/Balrog_(SSFIV)
Balrogs hit box - http://shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=237013

This is a nightmare match up for me and it doesn’t seem as if Gouken has too many answers for him if he starts pressuring and mixing it up good. The best Ultra to use in this match up is definitely Shin-Sho b/c he has so many ways he can evade fireballs, but you can follow up a Fireball with a Shin-Sho. You can’t activate the Denjin with another fireball on the screen, (I know, that’s weak considering Ryu can do this with his Super)

-Learn the differences of his rush punches
-Rush Punches from mid - far away - cr. lp will stuff it, or you can throw him out
-FA- works as well since all of his armor breaks are punishable on block, except the EX Verisons.
-Jumping back and stuff the rush punches works pretty good as well… That’s the simple shit…
-None of the frame data is in Goukens advantage in this match esp. when he is up close, and there are very few opportunities to punish Balrog for making mistakes -
-Look out for his infamous noob friendly combo. Overhead > cr. (whatever) > head butt > Ultra. It’s really the overhead that get’s you, you must train yourself to recognize this move, if you don’t you will almost always lose to Balrog.

Punishables—
You can EX after the 4th hit of his Super/Ultra
Missed Headbut
-Turn/Rush Punches- throw him, but it’s very risky and if you miss it’s a wrap… you can also EX Hurricane kick him before he recovers for a reversal… very strict timing. If you have an ultra, use it. You can throw a fireball to bait and then use Shin-Sho
-Also after close rush punches, It’s possible to FA the next jab - kick/dash in/dash out but that’s iffy as well considering how quick he jabs, or if he jab’s the goes into a HB>Super/Ultra
-Demon flip parry, has worked well to get close and the mix up with the dive kick sometimes helps… but for the most part… There aren’t too many holes for this guy…
-if he EX rush punches and you can react in time, use cr. lp > lk or EX Tatsu
-he can EX cancel his rush punches

Blanka:

Spoiler

http://www.shoryuken.com/wiki/index.php/Blanka_(SSFIV)

-lp hado still whiffs on his electricity
-kongo electricity at point blank range
-jab him out of his blanka rolls. Cr. fp or cr. roundhouse also works.
-if you block a blanka ball standing- lp palm him for the reversal
-use a fb to bait his roll > Shin Sho / tatsu / or knock him out of it
-cr. fp works terrific on his jump ins now
-when he hops from side to side, i normally can jab him before he does anything (spam cr. lp / lk if you see him hopping around he will jump right into it)
-when he doesn’t have a charge, he’s normally trying to slide. Bait it, then charge a focus attack to punish his ass.
-His rainbow roll can cross you up on either side, but if you block it you can get a max punish. You can also focus absorb if you aren’t good with cross ups.
-safe jump him all day long
-you can throw him in the beginning frames of his electricity
-EX balls horizontal balls go through fireballs and have armor break. You can kongo his other Blanka balls only the horizontal one will armor break.
-Focus or kongo his Rainbow so you don’t have to worry about which way to block, but if you block you get a full punish

Cammy:

Spoiler

http://www.shoryuken.com/wiki/index.php/Cammy_(SSFIV)

-She’s very fast, but she has low stamina and 2 or 3 wrong guesses can win you with match.
-You get a free throw on a blocked spiral. If you block it deep you can cr. fp > bnb
-Be ready to block and tech when she is in close, once you get a read on her timing, EX Kongo her
-Kongo her air dive kick or just block it high or low (again be ready to tech)
-Bait her cannon spiral with a hado > Shinso.
-She has low stun and stamina so a forward throw > meaty denjin can net you an easy stun
-When you get up in the match, zone her and force her to make mistakes
-learn her pokes and which ones give her the frame advantage on your jab, these also happen to be the ones she will 2-1 with a cannon spike or spiral arrow to catch your next attack
-Holligan doesn’t hit crouching opponents- you have alot of options to punish her here

-shoot down her fireball with yours to take away some of her pressure options
-you can neutral jump her split kick for full punish
-if you block her jump in’s wait until both attacks register before you block low
-Ultra 1 goes through hado’s
-cross her up to break her charges
-becareful with EX Gouken Flip, she can throw you in the air, instead force her to block a hado and use it to rush her down
-kongo her cross ups
-from max range kongo her cr. roundhouse, worst case scenario you’ll eat a fireball (just make sure the situation favors you to fish for it)
-safe jump her all day
-low counter beats her low options and hasan shu

Chun Li Character Specific Option Selects:
Punishing Chun Li instant overhead roundhouse on hit

Basically, if Chun Li goes for this at all, Gouken can win the round off of one setup.

On hit:

Walk up > cr.roundhouse

Simple as that. Because she did a jump attack, she can’t trip guard. Hits at max range, and works from anywhere on the screen.

From here, Chun Li can be constantly safe dive kick option selected to death with:

Medium Hyakki-Shuu > Hyakki Goujin ~ cr.roundhouse

EX Bird Kick gets blocked on landing because of it’s 6 frame startup, you can either land a combo of your choice or sweep again. Back dash will make the dive kick whiff, but then get swept because you option selected with sweep so you can do it over and over again. EX Hazan Shu whiffs, switches sides and sets up a max punish with Gouken. All she can do is block, and you have ridiculous frame advantage from the blocked dive kick because of how low it connects. You get to apply your mix up however you want from here.

Once you’ve got your opponent scared of the regular dive kick setup, start using Heavy Hyakki Shuu > Hyakki Goujin for a crossup dive kick. This can also be option selected with cr.roundhouse if they try to dash out.

Cody

Spoiler

http://www.shoryuken.com/wiki/index.php/Cody_(SSFIV)

-He has a lot of armor breaks
-From what I can tell he has poor wake up
-bait him to throw stones then EX GF him
-if he Ultra’s wait until the animations play themselves out before you attack him
-Zone him
-cross him up
-if you block his ruffian kick deep, max punish him
-Far lp is his only 3 frame normal
-his lp is + 3 on block and close mp is +4 on block. if you see these keep blocking or use EX GF to GTFO
-all of his knife moves are safe on block, knife does chip damage if blocked
-Zonk Knuckle has start un invincibility frames, but it is very punishable if you block it.
-he has horrible wake up, go for as many untechs as possible.

-The only thing you really have to worry about Dan is his hurricane kick > mix up w srk, throw, tick throw, hit confirm, block string.
-Zone him, he can’t win a fireball war with Gouken
-other than that you pretty much play this match up like Ryu and Ken, without the zoning on their part. Force him to jump in and cr. fp the shit out of him
-I’ve been successful with crossing him up with lk
-if he focus’s your lp hado’s alot, throw the 2 hit and force him to jump or block and you can pressure him with EX GF
-Max punish any missed srk or air tatsu
-he can change his trajectory with his air hurricane kick
-use cr. lk to make his Dan Kick (tatsu) whiff, he will fly over Gouken’s head and react accordingly

Deejay:

Spoiler

http://www.shoryuken.com/wiki/index.php/Deejay_(SSFIV)

I play this match up the same way you play Guile for the most part, the good thing is you get to neutral jump punish his forward roundhouse kicks and his wake up isn’t as good as guile’s unless he has EX. it has armor break so watch out for it.
-if he backs himself into the corner, keep letting him go there until he runs out of room, he now has less time to charge his sonic boom. Pin him down with hados and force him to fight you with no special moves- be ready to block and tech and use random ex kongos
-watch to see if he’s charged
-cross him up (his EX flash kick has a 4 frame start up though :frowning: so it can beat your cross up. It has a very very small reversal window) (beware of him sliding underneath your cross up as well)
-kongo his sonic boom if he follows. Learn the distances where he’d be safe, you can also lvl 2 focus and try to absorb and try to hit him or make him block and dash out +6 frame advantage for Gouken here.
-if he rushes you down, use cr. fp and cr. roundhouse to push him back. (watch to see if he focus attacks) cr. mp ~ lp hado works good on focus absorbers
-if he is close to you on wake up and sonic booms- kongo it on your wake up
-his EX maximum kick has a 4 frame invincible start up the others have a 6 frame start up
-you CAN safe jump his flash kick but the timing is very strict

Dhalsim:

Spoiler

http://www.shoryuken.com/wiki/index.php/Dhalsim_(SSFIV)

-At the beginning of the match block or kongo his arms. It’s possible to FA and counter hit them or grab the ends of them.
-Once at a safe distance throw hados to bait him to teleport over, then punish him with a cl. st. hk as soon as he appears, use st. mp or lp for a quick reset (kongo will work if he punches). (if you got a Denjin available you can meaty him after you hit him out of his teleport and then go for the stun)
-If he blocks a hado, use EX GF to rush him down
-cross him up > he can slide away and try to grab you, so be sure to mix up your empty and safe jumps (if you empty jump you can tech the throw)
-safe jump him all day
-he can throw a fireball and disappear to hit you on both sides (use kongo or EX GF)
-if he mis-times a jumping attack, use palm, cr. roundhouse to untech him on the way down, or you can also Denjin/Shin Sho him
-his slide goes under fireballs, so throw fireballs at a safe distance
-If you stay full screen, it’s very hard for him to punish you without being risky, use st. mp to fake a hado and bait him to disappear. Once you get him close, get his ass.
-if you smell a stretched out hp. from full screen, kongo it or EX GF > whatever you wanna use
-be patient, one huge combo can put this match totally in Goukens favor
-his U2 isn’t instant grab, so you can jump away after the animation
-focus absorb his attacks then dash in to punish (especially his jump moves)
-he has a weak close up game, (he will mostly grab you up close or try to slide at you)
-he doesn’t have a wide array of combos and hit confirms (most of his high damage combos come from super and Ultra)

-He has all the tools and high stamina LOL
-standing hk can own his machine gun rush- even up close Goukens has a 4 frame start up… NICE he eats both hits!! Lord help him if he decides to whiff and you option select your Ultra.
-Fireball works well against him, look out for his duck though. You can delay the release to confuse him a bit.
-he has a counter move, don’t be too wreckless
-he has an srk like uppercut, no neutral jumping at point blank range
-all of his whiffed moves are very punishable
-he has a FAST overhead
-empty jump his counter
-throw a hado bait him to duck it > Shin Sho his ass

 • spam cr. lp if you think he will Machine Gun Buff. -this can take a way alot of his mix up to > srk. Mix this after your hados. He will then try duck, start delaying the timing.
something else I’d like to add to dudley is to prepare to block low/focus/ or low kongo in the corner, especially if dudley has meter/ultra he does a lot of damage there much like gouken and but its done by his crouching rh scoop or machine gun blow. something that lesser dudleys like to abuse is walk back machine gun blow, going for the the special as you start walking forward, don’t fall for that shit. This match is a really good block/tech practice, because good dudleys are sooo pringles with their offense, mixing in throws and really good at staying in. ex kongo is really good during pressure block strings.

-EX Chicken Wing goes through Fireballs and first hit has armor break, whiffs at point blank range if you are crouching
-EX Chicken Wing loses to Denjin and EX Tatsu (I haven’t tried palm)
-Cross him up
-If he rush punches he loses frame advantage, he can delay the 2nd one after the first one, but if you block it you get a free punish. He will also mix up a rising flaming kick after the 1st one to catch your reversal
-he pokes alot- catch his timing and kongo him (EX to be safe)
-neutral jump in his rush punch range, it can lead to a max punish
-safe jump him
-don’t stay close to him with out doing anything to much, he can reverse grab you and punish you. I recommend to try to cross him up with GF somehow
-Without EX Chicken Wing, he has to work HARD to get around fireballs, zone him.

Fei Long Character Specific Option Selects:

Spoiler
A lot of this can be applied to other characters, get in the lab and experiment because it’s the only way to understand how it all works. Shotos not posted because SungHoon has already covered the best ways to use dive kick on them.

Option Select against Fei Long’s wake up

Land a hard knockdown from a sweep or a neutral throw to setup your safe dive kicks.

Medium Hyakki Shuu > Hyakki Goujin ~ cr.Fierce > cr.Fierce xx Jab Gouhadouken

If Fei does nothing, dive kick hits and you get the fireball combo. If you have the meter, you can FADC the fireball and land another sweep setup.

If Fei blocks, you blockstring out and get some chip and pushback, with you being at frame advantage.

If Fei does any version of Shienkyaku, it gets blocked and can be punished with anything you want.

If Fei backdashes, he gets caught with the first part of the cr.fierce which nets the full damage and stun, not the weak damage from a fully extended Hulkamania. The fireball also comes out and hits meaty at about sweep range.

If Fei does short, forward or EX Rekkakyaku, he gets hit by a full damage cr.fierce which then cancels and has to block a meaty fireball on landing. Even if he Roundhouse/EX Rekkakyakus or Rekkashinkens out to avoid the chip, you recover to either jump away or punish.

If Fei does roundhouse Rekkakyaku, the cr.fierce whiffs and Fei sails over Gouken’s head to switch sides. He lands at pointblank and Gouken recovers to max punish or sweep again.

SUPER Changes: Denjin Hadouken can be used as the OS instead of the cr.fierce, although it will not beat EX Rekkakyaku. Be aware that Gekirinken has 0 startup, so technically no safe jumping on Fei Long if he’s using this.

-If he attacks you and has a stocked U2 from the ground then be ready to backdash, block and tech, counter attack, or jump and tatsu the hell outta there

Ken

Spoiler

http://www.shoryuken.com/wiki/index.php/Ken_(SSFIV)

There are 2 types of Kens, rush down Ken and zoning Ken. Zoning Ken is an easy match up, rush down Ken can be a tough match up for Gouken. But fear not you are the master and you can beat him.

-There ARE windows to beat the reversal srk, get in training mode, get creative and learn them and hold them close. You can either attack the frames after invincibility wears off and stuff it, or you can faux-safe jump it and bait/punish the reversal.
-Learn how to beat the step kick mix up. He will use step kick to pressure you, you can go for the cr. mp for counter hit, but srk wins. If you think he will follow up attack, kongo or EX kongo is best or just block the damn thing and try to bait a srk to punish.
-he will mix the step kick, over head, tick throw, block string, and kara-throw up on you. This is very tough for anyone. Block and tech it and find a way out, worse case scenario eat the overhead and keep blocking low or crouch teching.
-he has slow recovery on hado’s you have to make him pay when he starts throwing them out (golden opportunity for Gouken).
-if you get up in the match, zone him, it’s hard for him to rush without risk
-he will hit confirm to srk or tatsu. mostly tatsu for the stun, be ready to block and tech his follow up srk, or grab. Sometimes they will use overhead to hit you, so be aware.
-if he blocks a dive kick- land and do nothing, if he tries to reverse with an srk. it’s a free punish. If you must do something make sure it is a true block string as he can srk between your frame traps.
-palm through his fireballs, his recovery is very slow
-beware of his EX fireball when he wants to pressure
-kongo is air tatsu cross up, or any of his cross ups
-cr. fp is very good AA against him
-you can FA and counter hit his step kicks
-beware of blocked lp srk > follow up srk
-beware of the tick grabs. He has very good on block frame data, which leads to a bunch of grabbing

-cross him up

-watch out for consecutive st. hk’s
-his slide is quick but is very punishable

M.Bison Character Specific Option Selects:

Spoiler
Stopping Bison from doing anything on wakeup

The same principle as all of Gouken’s dive kick option selects, but this one is really effective in that Gouken is safe whatever happens.

Throw/sweep setup, then…

Dash > Forward Hyakki Shu > Hyakki Goujin ~ Strong Senkugoshoha > cr.fierce xx Jab Gouhadouken

So his get outs are Teleport, EX Scissors, EX Crusher and EX Stomp/Devil’s Reverse. The timing for the safe jump can be however you want really, but for the purposes of the option select it’s best to delay the dive kick a shade more than for Chun Li’s since the startup on Bison’s reversals are pretty slow and you don’t want your OS Palm to be stuffed by his slow starting reversals. This means that whatever happens, you’ll either block EX Scissors and Crusher, avoid Devil’s Reverse and forward Teleport completely, or punish back Teleport for free.

This will more than likely push them to the corner, be it from the blockstring or Palm. Even if he reversals out, his responses are all either putting him in the corner or in a position that can be punished again and again.

SUPER Changes: Denjin Hadoken can be used for an option select also, however you do need to be aware it will only punish his ground reversals. It’s a judgment call on the Gouken players behalf, but generally I’d use this if they had no meter.

-cr. fp and kongo are great AA
-If she has an ultra, stay out of command grab range. She can ultra you after an EX command grab
-very high pressure character

-great block strings- be ready to kongo or play it safe and just block and tech

Rufus:

Spoiler

http://www.shoryuken.com/wiki/index.php/Rufus_(SSFIV)

Rufus can apply an absurd amount of pressure, so know your Messiah Kick mix ups on reaction and you should be fine.

-Messiah Kick > LK follow up- Block Low Very Punishable -18 Frame Advantage (counter not reliable)
-Messiah Kick > MK follow up - Block Low 0 Frame Advantage
-Messiah Kick > HK follow up - Block High -1 Frame Advantage

You can also Kongo all attacks in between Frames on reaction after the 1st Messiah kick except the lk follow up… wait to punish.

If he’s up close Beware of the Grab, or the rolling kick that hit’s low as well.

You can also counter the dive kick on reaction, or just FA if he is airborn.

Galatic tornado also breaks Armor so beware… it is also -1 on block :frowning: which means if you better be picky about how you choose to punish.

You CAN beat the Galactic Tornado>Messiah Kick block string by netrual jumping and counter hitting the following (you can also counter with EX HK but that is very risky) or you can block it to try to tech the following tick throw or KONGO the follow up.

A well timed cr. HP can beat the dive kick if he is in far range, with st. mp you will trade hits. If he’s up close just either block or counter… and go from there.

Move back and forward (including back dash) to be at proper range to hit him of of dive kick.

He has no fireball, but EX Galatic Tornado can cancel Fireballs. Since he has no fireball, zoning him would be a great strategy… just beware of the safe dive kicks.

Most of the Rufus’ I’ve dealt with have been all high pressure, so I just threw them alot and used fireball traps.

From what I can tell, the demon flip mix-up/loop and the meaty dive kick is pretty effective as well.

EX Messiah is very tough up close.

His U2 works great against fireballs, cross ups, and jump ins. It’s pretty much an all purpose Ultra.

Sagat:

Spoiler

http://www.shoryuken.com/wiki/index.php/Sagat_(SSFIV)

Sagat Character Specific Option Selects:

Spoiler
Sagat Wakeup

He’s got a 5 frame uppercut, so the same timing as Fei Long applies. The good thing though is that you can use sweep instead of cr.fierce as Sagat only has the uppercut, and his backdash is sweep punishable.

Usual throw/sweep setup…

Dash > Forward Hyakki Shu > Hyakki Goujin ~ cr.Roundhouse/Jab Senkugoshoha > cr.fierce xx Jab Gouhadouken

It’s probably the most basic of the option selects. It’s definitely Gouken’s only way of applying close up pressure against Sagat that he has no real answer for. The blockstring pushes Sagat back out to a comfortable range if he blocks, and sets up a long range game again for Gouken.

Dealing with reversal EX Messiah Kick

Like a lot of characters, Gouken can time a meaty jab on Rufus’ wakeup and recover in time to block reversal EX Messiah Kick. This too can be option selected for when your opponent knows that you can time it meaty and they try to avoid it.

From a knockdown…

Walkup > cr.Jab ~ Jab Senkugoshoha/cr.roundhouse

You can do either in this scenario. Admittedly, you don’t want to playing an up-close game with Rufus, but for those times when you land that knockdown and they’re itching to get some damage in, it’s a safe way to bait and punish if he does actually reversal and also to punish backdash.

Much props for this man!

good shit. mad props.

Can we get a moderator to sticky this please. Awesome work Iam superb.

Thanks guys.

I will try to update this as fast as possible. I think we may want to attack the new character list first, since everyone should be somewhat experienced against the characters that transitioned from vanilla. I should have Nevillebamshew’s option selects added today and hopefully Raun will start posting 10 game sets again so we can have some video with commentary.

If any one has any good videos or rules of thumb regarding the match ups please post them so I can include.

Against T.Hawk, always use MP Hado for zoning. Since Hawk is tall, it can hit him standing, and it pretty much shuts down his attempts to Dive. On a blocked dive, use HP Palm or walk-up HK Tatsu to send him across the screen and continue your zoning. Be careful of Hados within 2 character spaces if Hawk has Meter, as he can EX Spire through it leading to a Typhoon on whiff, or mixups on hit since EX Spire knocks down. Be VERY conservative with wake-up Kongo to get out of Cross-up Splash setups, because if Hawk decides to go for his air d+MP fake out (this move can only hit air-to-air) you’ll be eating another Typhoon or a cs.MP > HP Tomahawk combo, which deals 250 damage! The latter also leaves him right next to you, so he’ll probably go for that over LP Typhoon.

Well, that’s general T.Hawk info, I know how this match can go since I Sub him.

Thanks for the help!! Added.

Someone is probably going to have to email a mod with the link so they can sticky it and close out the other one, I guess it will be easier to do once this is updated to everyone’s liking, so it can eliminate any confusion.

about the juri matchup

ok, I figure I can gives this a try, I mean I want to help as well.

This match is not hard at all.
-Juri is a rush character be patient and time her attacks with Kongo
-you can Kongo her Senpusha (spinning wheelkick) even the ex version, or cr. roundhouse when blocked.
-her dive kick is her breaker, max punish on all version if blocked, or shisho if you can react to it.
-she cant win a fb fight with Gouken plus you can palm through her projectiles.
-mp and fp FB are prefer against Juri keep her from using her dive kick. lp version only to bait dive kick then go for max punish, but I would not recommend it, she comes down pretty fast off that dive kick, remember that the ex can wall bounce you into ultra 2 so keep that in mind when playing Juri.
-Her air-to-air is mp which she can combo into her ex dive kick. She can also use this to mixup her crossup game in the corner since it will not cross you in the corner, cr. fp or kongo should do the trick.
-palm breaks her counter. Juri likes to use her counter against projectile chracters to get in close and then they use cr.mk into senpusha, I usually stay a mid screen, if you notice they do this, bait it and when they go for counter, be ready with an ex or low kongo, or trick them into thinking you are about to go for projectile and deliver a palm into her counter for a nice surprise.
-low life, (for those Denji users have fun with her 950lf.)

That pretty much what I found against her, for the most part her ground pressure is not that difficult to read, she tends to start her combos from cr. lk, or cr. mk into senpusha, a random low kongo should shut this down. Her only good wake up is her ex senpusha, without any meter her wake up game goes to shit, so mixup all day. Hope this helped.

Other than using MP fireball to keep him away, some T-Hawk will just Focus Attack to build meter and slowly walk near Gouken. If the player like to do this, once a while mix up the attack with slide palm or Gouken flip sweep. This will ensure T-Hawk stay at the comfortable distant from Gouken, and reduce some of his vitality at the same time… Just need to be careful in reading what your opponent gonna do to close in, so far I have positive results in this, and T-Hawk cant do anything about it…

When he closes in, well run away is the way to go. Air Tatsu is a good tool to run away.

Both added in… thanks for the input.

Stuck. PM me if you guys need other changes in the Gouken board.
