You know why im in this thread…because im frustrated. Frustrated with Gouken players that have always been frustrated with Gouken. Frustrated that players we never see in person, whom we only watch through online matches or tutorial vids, who we respect for giving us a few keys, are always venting about how bad gouken is. And for those watching this that play many bisons, that tech is best used on hk and ex scissor. Its the same back dash timing. Even if you focus just before they do it or after, wether you knew they were gonna do it or not, you can still invicible backdash and punish with cr. mp x hk tatsu, st. Mp x mp palm. And yes you can extend those into full ultra combos or from st. Mp cancle to lp plasma, fadc cr. hp expalm etc. etc. When you practice this tech, unlike ^this guy who is stuck on theory fighter, you will learn that it is very possible to pull this off at least once a round. Or just block and punish like ive posted. Bison is a breeze with what I normally do and what you are able to do to counter ALL of his moves. And im not only talking kongo. Cr. lk is you best friend. Nj. Hk beats ex stomp clean. Clean. Once you see him in rising like the golden sun, nj. Hk that ass. Try it in training mode. Works all the way from I believe one character space away. To make sure I can pull it off in a match, Practice. Its the most fun I have with gouken. Land these things in matches. Itll be the most excitment you feel from this game. Thats why I love this character. Tough to play effectively, but once you get your game down, your specific strategy with EACH CAST MEMBER, It feels the most rewarding when you get a win with gouken. THE fundamentalist. I appreciate this character. And I am a noboby right now. But like Gouken’s place in the FGC, that will change. Peace.

I’m glad other people are taking the time to make videos and I hope this thread doesn’t discourage you from making more vids. I’d like to see what ideas you come up with. Some constructive criticism on this particular setup:
Bison has no reason to use mk or hk scissors in this matchup outside of combos and ex to go through fireballs
blocked mk scissors are already punishable by cr.lp xx tatsu fadc whatever and hk scissors is punishable by your bnb of choice
It doesn’t solve lk scissor spam. I’m pretty sure doing this against lk scissors would leave you at negative frames with grey health loss. Someone might have to look into it. If it leaves you at positive frames I could see some use out of it.
Focusing in the corner is generally a bad idea. It really limits your options. At best I can see you catching someone off guard with it and getting a throw off it after lk scissors. Second time around I can see them wising up and baiting you to do it so they can psycho crusher you, dash throw, U1, dash lk into combos etc.

@phunkism in the near future i wanna work with you on a project i think you would love doing. It involves gouken. Its been a long time coming but i havent put the finishing touches on my notes. If you dont mind sending me your email i would eventually start sending you things that you could try yourself first, then we could talk about the steps forward for getting this stuff out. Non of it is completely reliable, i mean what is in this game except throw, but when i show you/tell you the details of why such and such works and how it can be applied, i know you will at least agree that gouken isnt for the faint of heart but played at that level he IS top material. Im 100% confident you will acknowledge what I have as genuine tech for gouken when im done. Let me know bro. Peace
