Whats sad is I played a bison today, A lot of the matches were really close. I beat him quite a few times, but in the end had like a 5 winstreak on me and I just switched characters. I played for a bit longer, said “ggs” which he replied in kind"ggs, best gouken I’ve ever fought". This isn’t to toot my own horn, hell you don’t even know if the guy was legit(he was). But the fact that he called me that means Gouken is normally really free to him and I’m sure other bisons share this sentiment. This is some bullshit.
yes it is some bullshit. you can just switch to another character and play against gouken. you will know you only need to pressure with low attacks or throws on wake-up. there are just SO many ways to exploit gouken, he is more like a teenage girl than an old veteran master of fighting
Watching the NSB stream, saw a dan player ocv another team. I wonder if their will be any gouken play.
Just finished watching ViperGoomba OWN every frigging person who came his way in a months long grand finale team tourney on justin.tv! 3 vs 3, his other two teammates lost every time they played and he alone carried the team through three sets…Generalluke (Bison), Solid snake mgs4 (Ryu), and a Sim I forgot the name, all solid players. The Bison was out of my friggin nightmares. Prior to that he wrecked some other great players, Moshtaba being one.
OWNED THEM ALL! WTF? Sick timing, near perfect reads, adapting to players on the fly, huge whole-life bar comebacks, and he seems to have a magic anti-tech backthrow. Amazing, absolutely stunning.

He does when I use him LOL. It was frustrating watching because he was punishing them with a lot of simple shit and grabbing these guys for ultra with consistency and I’m saying to myself, WTF am I doing wrong?
i lost to some guy with 500PP, haha, i found it annoying at the time, it brought me down a chunk of PP i had taken about 8 wins to accumilate.
you shouldn’t bother thinking about pp with gouken.
what is your pp going to be like if you face a string of medium quality yuns?
if your pp is high because you are avoiding yun players, or any of his other bad matchups, what does pp mean?
a high pp with gouken is kind of like getting muscle implants.
yes, i suspect bullcat avoids strong players because i saw him kick a good yun in a crosscounter video. i hover at around 3000 PP and theres a few >4000PP players who like to challenge me and take me down a few hundred PP everytime they see me online. i never say no to a challenge 
i think i could have over 4000PP if i had played gouken for longer, lots of stuff isn’t ingrained in the muscle memory so i let a lot of shit slide. and i stopped playing for 6 weeks cos i got tired of getting stressed (and also i downloaded tales of vesperia, which is cool) so i’m pretty rusty again now
I kinda agree. I’m around 2800 right now and climbing but I’ve only just started playing ranked again. I’m actually more concerned with the BP for no other reason than to see myself in the top 20 in N.America on PSN. Almost there. I know it doesn’t really matter and there are a lot of sick Gouken’s out there, butit keeps me playing so…
By the way GODHAND04…WHY AM I HIGHER THAN YOU? You are a better player. Get up there and represent yourself properly!

I don’t play ranked, so I’ve remained at my 5kbp 3100pp. I feel ranked may be a good way to learn some discipline seeing as you have something on the line, it’s also a good way to rage though. First month of Super I played a lot of ranked had some 10k bp and fluctuated between 3500 and 4k pp, but I felt like I was always competing with the top goukens on the board. I’d be number 1 or 2 one moment go to sleep and find Mugen-tk had taken my spot, or vipergoomba had taken my spot and grind it out to get more bp. For what its worth I think the best gouken on psn is illmatic1984, JP gouken with 5k pp, Goddamn. He’s not at the top of the leaderboards, but he plays like he should be. I don’t think I follow any of the top 10.

Frustrated that when I go check other character’s match up details here on SRK, they spend between 0 to 10 lines on Gouken, and then paragraphs on certain other characters who you can probably guess about.
We need to change this.

gouken wins by punishing mistakes, he can’t mount an offensive and force errors except off a knockdown with save dickicks.
every opponent (except guile ithink) just has to play tight, stay close and maintain reasonable pressure and they should be in good shape to win. There’s nothing to write about.
Yeah, if the other player can block and cr tech and jump over fireballs, they win. Sad.
