I did it.
Cancelled a High Kongoshin into the Ultra by accident. Against a Ryu issuing a standing high kick from the corner. I meant to do Ultra off of the recovery of a lp.Palm. Here’s the best I can do describing it.
I jumped in and issued the following combo, which was blocked. Forward j.fp, s.fp, lp.palm.
I knew my blocked palm would be punished, most likely by a reversal SRK. I got desperate and immediately started buffering QCFs for the Ultra (which when used sparingly can be a punisher). My method of buffering the input is to continually do QCFs until I realize it’s the right time to hit 3P (which I don’t map to any buttons) as a precautionary for my lack of timing skills.
At the moment of recovery, I launched the 3P(which I double tap on instinct)but I slammed down on the buttons forcefully resulting in my going passed neutral in to down back/back.
High counter came out, not EX. Immediately after absorbing the hit, (while still in the position where Gouken’s hands are up issuing the high counter), the frames cancelled and he went straight into ULTRA.
Game. Took the match.
I was just playing a C. Viper in G1 and I stop her Lighting Knuckle with Gouken c.MK, funny thing is that I KO him with it and I could see how Gouken had Electricity running on him, but I took no damage. This was really odd…
You took no damage because you didn’t trade hits. (???) That’s what I’m assuming. But you’re right that’s still weird. It was SRK-version of knuckles you should have been screwed.

Wow! At first I thought you where just dreaming but while I was reading your post I was in training mode with Gouken and thought id give it a go and I got it on the first go, but never again after that. Was this common knowledge? Beacuse it is the first I’ve heard of it.
Seems like you have to mash like crasy and pply buffer a bunch of the stick inputs really fast so you get the stick inputs for both the counter and ultra all mixed together then tap p then 3p. Would be sick if someone could do this consistenly, unlikly though.
Counter to ultra is generally very very risky because the ultra is NOT a guaranteed hit like the counter is. It does have uses, though, like vs. bison’s EX stomp since he pops back up too fast for the counter attack to connect.

scary xited, there was a long post about kongo xx ultra a few months back. there is a vid on this guys youtube site…
the inputs were figured out, just search and find it.
it is hard to use though because your kongo has to hit in the very begining of its active stage, this does not work if your kongo hangs out for a few frames and then gets hit. you have to do it at the last possible moment.

I’m still wondering why Boxer can armor cancel into rushes, but Gouken can only seem to cancel into Supers, Ultras, and more counters…
You can armor cancel into any EX special move. The input is just really difficult for some. For example, counter xx tatsu might be impossible because of the input necessarily always giving you a second DP motion. Cancelling into counter is the easiest option simply because it’s just another button press with the same motion and the window to input the second command is very very small.
^ That’s the thing, if this is indeed possible (which I assume it is), counter into EX palm or demonflip should be easy (but it’s not).
The motion even overlaps counter into Ultra motion:

When trying PP/KK counter into ultra, I should even accidentally get an EX move instead of ultra because of negative edge (but I don’t).
I’m not saying it shouldn’t work, I’m curious as to why I can’t get it to work. I mean, it SHOULD be easier than counter into Ultra, right? …and while I can do counter into ultra with some pretty decent consistency, I have NEVER been able to armor cancel into a (not a counter) EX special.

What can you do from backthrow > delayed j.mp? I’ve been doing a reset off it with cr.mk then into mk demon flip usually for the dive kick into cr.jab x4 cr.lk, or switching it to a grab or lk demon flip. Is there anything I can do off the double j.mp?
I believe you can combo with a LK tatsu or an EX tatsu if you’re fast enough when you do a double hit with the j.mp .
You can do another jump strong for one hit, or multi-hit Ultra and Super. All Hurricanes will whiff the first hit, but the rest of the hits on the way up will land. Not reccommended though
I hate it when I get the 2 hitter. The1 hit j mp after backthrow gives soooo many sick mixup options imo. I love doing this too much where I get predictable.
