Gouken Combos and Glitches

Can’t say for sure looks like he did a quick move and threw you before the counter came out. I’ll test it out see what I can find.

wat i saw was a c.lp and he quickly grabbed u. I know u could do it if it was against a FA, didnt know it would work against the counter.

Also at ard 5:50, can u explain wat u were trying to do? U just knocked down the opponent and did a demon flip (i think into parry) just as he woke up and ended up getting thrown. Were u trying to bait him into doing something? I’ve tried this a few times but never once was i successful in baiting anything. Totally gave up on that idea after a while cos it just didnt seem worth it as i was always punished instead.

So yeah, I was going for a cr.Jab tick throw so what happened is I inputted cr. Jab and then a throw. Best guess is that EX counters wait a little bit longer to execute the hit for some reason or another and my throw came out fast enough to stuff it.

I am sure if that was a norma counter I would have punished the jab though. It wasn’t canceled into anything, it was just jab, full recovery, throw. Anyway,

at 5:50 I was trying to do lk demon flip into throw. It was mostly an experiment, I didn’t know if it would work from that situation, and it didnt. I’m not sure why I did parry instead - either I realized the throw would not land and hit parry to try to salvage the flip, or i misinputed the throw.

I see. I guess trying to go for the grab kinda makes sense. I’ve altogether given up the idea of going into the demon flip even after a EX rush palm reset in the corner. Maybe the friends i play with are just too alert to get caught by it.

it’s a guessing game you force… your friends aren’t too alert, your habits are too predictable.

it’s likely you caught the tail end of the jab, so he recovered and threw you before yoru counter came out.

This happened to me before when i tried to counter safe jump ins. It was an EX one that I did, and i got hit/thrown out of it before my parry hit came out.

Doesn’t it look like the EX Counter ‘post-hit’ animation lasts a long time though? I’m pretty sure if I did a regular counter I would have hit him before the throw went off.

This really feels like a glitch to me when an EX counter is done as a reversal on a meaty attack… i will play with this tonight

I’ve been thrown out of my rush palm before so maybe the same could have happened where u were thrown out just as u get into the attack portion of the counter. It is indeed weird and its things like this that i wished Gouken’s counter worked the same as those in KOF.

I tried a bunch of different ways (ie meaty jab into reversal counter, blah blah.) and could never get the throw off he just hit me square in the jaw… I’ll mess with it some more, but seems very strange.

Anyone notice that a full charge lp gohdouken can be combo’d off from across the stage with his EX rushdown? Sorry if this has been mentioned before.

You can do this in the corner with it:
Full charge low punch gohdouken -> EX rushdown (kick above them) -> s. heavy punch -> EX palm thrust -> heavy gohdouken -> Shin shoryuken - 642 damage

It eats 3 gauges off the super meter, and of course is situational specific lol.

I’ll bet you canceled a normal counter into an ex counter. One of those armor kara cancel thingamabobs.

I’ma just throw up these Goken finds i’ve made myself out there.
They may already be posted but…whatever.

Corner shit first:
From P1 prospective

*Note the combos that end with the demon hop setup will catch most kats off gaurd but stay open minded with those setups. You can also use the dive kick to reset or the air parry to setup people going on the offensive.

That’s it for now.
I’m at work and i got shit to do.
I’ll finish this later today.

god i hate those arrow + button icons…

seriously… what’s so unreadable about “s.hp XX ex palm, hp hadou, ultra”?

I can’t tell if there’s anything new in there cuz my eyes burn trying to read that =(

aww come on, the dude’s just trying to help. If it helps, I dun see anything new except the last combo which i’m not sure if it will connect. I’d rather end it with a hp reset then do the lp palm though.

Nah theres nothing new in there, its more of a list of everything thats already been stated.

If you have 3 ex meter bars theres no reason not to do this combo:
j.fierce -> s.fierce xx jab FB xx FADC -> cr.fierce xx ex Palm -> fierce FB -> jab FB -> cr.fierce xx demon flip throw. 1090 stun.

replace jab FB with ex FB and you have 4 meters 1100 stun.

I will continue to post these two combos forever and ever and ever. lol.

The reason is to do a combo less complicated, one i know i won’t miss it, because i’m a scrub.

i’ve won tournament tekken matches because the opponent missed a high damage but difficult combo and i ended in a good wakeup. If i have to choose, i choose to do a little less damage but be sure that i will do it.

I picked gouken before knowing this, but he is one of the few characters that don’t need to do a FADC at all, and i love that… i hope i won’t need to learn and do complicated combos until 4000 BP

Yeah youre right, that is a valid point. Do what you feel comfortable with.

it’s still not a combo. It’s useful, but don’t post it as a combo because people will believe that.
