Gouken Combos and Glitches

Yo Giley, how did you come to the conclusion that Goukens +6 on hit after a jab fireball? The fact that you could combo his cr.HP after, which has a 5 or 6 frame startup (forgot which)?

Very cool combo Gilley. Make some amazing match videos so us SF noobs can learn. :wink:

c.mp->EX palm->EX fb->ultra. I’m finding this combo doing more damage, though less stun. No jump in, so this a good combo on ground if you fight against good anti air. 657-686 damage 450 stun

c.mp->EX palm->EX fb->EX tatsu. 460 damage 610 stun. Choose your poison

Oh ya, gilley! I can’t view the video. Can you upload it to be itouch friendly? =P

Wouldnt this combo (ambigious ender) put the stun up over 1000?

j.fierce -> s.fierce xx jab FB -> c.fierce xx jab FB xx FADC -> c.fierce xx EX Palm -> c.fierce xx demon flip into flip throw.

The demon flip throw isnt guaranteed but after an EX Palm and a dash c.fierce the flip throw should land right as the opponent resets from the c.fierce

Why hasn’t anyone made a Gouken combo vid yet?

what’s the xx mean?

xx means cancel
-> means link

Have you checked who you can link a cr.fp against consistently? I only tried Zangief, Ryu, and E.Honda, and could only get it with any frequency against Honda. Doesn’t seem like you can get much after a regular fireball from that far away except off a cr.fp, Though of course I haven’t really messed around with it. Against Zangief the only Palm I could get to connect after just the st.fp xx fireball ~ cr.fp was jab palm, ex seems to slow but I could have fucked that up tooo. Anyyyway just wondering if you’ve checked more permutations of this and seen who else it works on but zangief. If it works on more than him the timing must be pretty tight…

So I got home and tested out some shit.

j.fierce -> s.fierce xx jab FB xx FADC -> s.fierce xx ex Palm -> fierce FB -> ex FB -> c.fierce xx demon flip -> throw. does 1100 stun. The only thing is the throw isnt guaranteed, but your opponent needs to be fast to counter it.

You can do j.fierce -> s.fierce xx jab FB xx FADC -> s.fierce xx ex Palm -> fierce palm. does only 810 stun but it can be done anywhere.

thx for testing that… so ya ending with s.hp already does 930 stun… afterwards demon flip throw is good enough to stun anyone but gief… and demon flip kick combo s.hp, qcf.lp, cr.mk, qcb.hk would be enough to stun even gief… and pretty sure by then there life will be low enough to kill them with another combo… right giley?

post avove nice one without the wall… that’s really useful…

Exactly. I figured out how much startup Gouken’s normal attacks have using this technique I posted in one of the other Gouken threads. Then I tried to use each normal attack after a FB. I found his c.fierce has 6 frames of startup and his far s.rh has 7 frames of startup. I could link the c.fierce after FB’s but not the s.rh. This means the FB leaves Gouken at +6 frame advantage on hit.

I will test this out on everyone today and get back to you later. I noticed on dhalsim I’m able to do c.fierce > jab FB > c.fierce > jab FB…but I can’t do this on gief. You get the “far” part of the fierce on the 2nd one, which hits on frame 7.

EDIT: here’s the info. Notice the ones it doesn’t work on. On those characters, if you do s.fierce > jab FB > c.fierce > jab FB you will get the “far” hitting part of the c.fierce. Now if you do s.fierce > jab FB then stop the combo and wait, then do c.fierce > jab FB you will get the “close” part of the c.fierce. This makes me believe that the combo doesn’t work not because of the character’s small hitbox, but because of their HIT REACTION. With those characters, when the c.fierce is about to connect, they’re further away than some of the other characters. And wtf is up w/ this combo not working on rufus :slight_smile: I noticed this with alot of the Guile combos too. Also important to note is Gouken’s close s.fierce doesn’t push him away as much as his c.fierce. This is why the combo starting with s.fierce works more than starting it with c.fierce.

I was playing around with Gouken’s s.strong > c.jab link and was having difficulty pulling it off consistently with it being a 1 frame link. I found the close s.fierce > c.jab is alot easier. It’s a 2 frame link so you can get it alot more. It also allows you to combo a hurricane after the c.jab. If you’re trying to combo into the hurricane though, it’s usually best to use the roundhouse hurricane. I’ve discovered that the short hurricane will wiff or only get one hit. On some characters the forward hurricane will only get one hit but usually doesn’t wiff. On all characters though, the roundhouse hurricane will get all the hits.

There’s 2 characters that this link doesn’t work on though, and that’s Cammy and Rose. I have no idea why it doesn’t work on Rose, although Cammy is tiny.

so j.fierce > s.fierce > c.jab > hurricane is alot easier than
j.fierce > s.strong > c.jab > hurricane

Good shit gilley. Ill have to mess with this stuff when I have more time. That corner combo is going to be dangerous once people get it down more!

Man, first the list of counterable ultras/supers and now this. You rock, Gilley. I got all this info saved on a notepad to pull up at the vs. screen

good stuff gilley keep up the great work for groundbreaking gouken notes!

You the man. That opens up alot of midscreen game for Gouken once you get that link down. Thanks!

Curious if anyone has tested this link on block. I wonder how safe it is between stand fierce and cr. jab. I’ll give this a shot at home tonight though.

This might be a side effect of the “easier motions” thing but it feels like glitch. You can do Gouken’s counters with db, d, db instead of the normal command. What results is that you get a lot of counters when you’re trying to hurricane kick from defensive crouch position. What’s so retarded about this is that you can’t do the hurricane kick with db, b +k. You HAVE to do d, b+ k. So if you want to do it you have to let the stick go to neutral from defensive crouch and then do down, back +k.

However, this is complicated when you want to do EX Hurricane kick (or regular HK) when you’re being crossed up on wake up. Even when you let it go to neutral it seems to still do the counter half the time. So retarded. Especially since if you try to use the regular tatsu you’ll get a low counter and you’ll probably get hit by the crossup for free.

As I’m typing this I’m testing it on Ryu and it seems that this alternate command can probably be used with all dragon punch motions.

Can anyone with better execution than me figure out how much stun this combo produces.

j.fierce -> s.fierce xx jab fb xx FADC -> s.fierce xx jab FB xx FADC -> cr.fierce xx fierce Palm (or roundhouse Tatsu).

and as a side note would …FADC -> cr.fierce xx demon flip throw be more viable.

Man, this is the exact reason why I abandoned using Tatsus as an anti-air from a crouch, the solution I liked to do was make it a hcb+k motion instead, I find it faster then going to neutral. And then fuck it for cross-ups. Make then get used to dealing with counters and the balls in your court.
