How would you option select mp palm to punish backdashing? What would the input be?
It won’t work if they are back dashing after blocking the cl.mp, but if they dash before the cl.mp then it is just the standard option select input. Use a non-canceling normal like sweeping instead is the only way. But now that I think about it, the timing might be too tight, they would have recovered from the dashing already after sweeping end and mp palm start. So I guess it won’t work anyway.
Ive been practicing plinking as if i was playing AE in training mode and would it not be better to plink Roundhouse with MK and Fierce with MP. Unless your trying to double plink you would use 2 lower priority buttons.
Standing Cloe MP BETTER HAVE MORE FRAME ADVANTAGE ON BLOCK and not the crappy +1 lol . It would be stupid to give a move more plus on hit and leave block the same.
BTW does bullcat only play online or does he go to tournys in japan. I wonder if he will be at evo Japan?!?!?.
I’ve always used the weaker ones and they’ve worked pretty consistently I’m not sure. It does make more sense to plink cr. mk and roundhouse though, b/c cr. mk has a faster start up than cr. lk. Maybe that link will be even easier now :woot:
Oh Its just a button placement thing to me since Mp is right next to HP and Mk is right next to HK it would be easier to plink with those buttons. I did not think the start up frames of the move had anything to do with plinking?!?
We can even try to double plink that shit if its too too hard.
If st. cl. mp is +7 on hit, there will be more than enough time to link it consistently, even online. It will be even that much easier on counter hit. :nunchuck:
It’s pretty easy to link in training mode as is with counterhit on. I could go drop a deuce and come back and link it with a counterhit in AE.

I looks like Yun is going to be a problem, I’m going to hate that match up.
I liked the dash on wakeup and the cl.mp, cr.hp, palm looked neat.
I would like to know if the new lp palm would help against Yun pressure, also df parry should help. Maybe ex df parry could be a better option on wakeup, I still think df parry, cl.mk, lp palm should be pretty safe with the new 3 frame cl.mk and the safer lp palm.
I don’t like kongo as AA as much as you here, I trust my cr.mk for my AA needs, it hits almost everything, hitbox is very low, it’s so fast that you can block on whiff, it’s a perfect AA and I don’t like the guessing game on kongo, one badly guessed kongo and you get a ton of damage and you let them pressure you. I only kongo when I’ve trained them that the can jump attack all the time and with enough ex to fadc, but for me cr.mk is the best gouken AA until I check the new tatsu.
About the DLC, at least I hope I can play the new Gouken on the 3ds by march with sf4 3ds, it won’t be the same than using a stick but it will work to check a lot of stuff. Some people here at srk were talking already about modding the 3ds to work with a stick lol

Yeah, I wouldn’t say he’s worse, but it definitely feels like all the Gouken hype quickly died down.
All of the videos I’ve watched haven’t shown much with his new changes either. I’m hoping that’s only because people haven’t adapted their playstyles with him yet. Otherwise I have to assume the reality is no where near as good as all the game changing promises Gouken was hyped to have coming his way.
I’m still waiting for that “Aha!” moment where someone shows something new and powerful with one of his changes.
Meh…I didnt really see anything special there with the exception of mp-hp-palm linking. Yun is definitely going to be a problem with his instant dive kick shenanigans…worse than rufus i’d say. Time will tell tho.

in every single video i have seen, the only new thing anyone is taking advantage of is j.mp xx tatsu.
most people just stand at screen length, whiff lp. palms for meter then land a u1 from backthrow that doesn’t finish the round because of the nerf.

The latest Acho YouTube - Broadcast Yourself. had a decent Gouken showing. Some resets, Mp>Tatsu, and atleast one string of normals into lp palm if I remember correctly.
Looking at the BP I guess it’s the same Gouken linked a few posts earlier. Kinda looked better to me for some reason…or the comp was weaker.
whats the damage comparison with the new shin sho vs denjin? Ive been playing with denjin more and more in preparation for AE, and I must say, I gotta stop relying on kara back throw to shin sho.
well seeing as denjin is nerfed from backthrow as well, it’s still ass. naked/wakeup denjin though? I’d like to know as well, but I think I’ll be sticking to shin sho.
