Why is EX Tatsu listed twice? There seems to be a description on the second one, but hell if I know what it means.
Well we have 2 Tatsumaki’s don’t we. Only one of them gets armourbreaking in AE.
Second one is (Air) Tatsu… Only Ground EX Tatsu got armor break property…

None so far, would you really expect it though? 4 frame jabs are very common and with close MK being a 3 framer I don’t expect them giving us that. Not to mention that such a change would allow us to hitconfirm of Jabs and while I wouldn’t mind it, they already gave us so much, getting that too would be a bit much
When I saw the trailer, I tried it out in trainning mode. The ex tatsu doesn’t hit full. The only time you hit full if its a neutral jump, and it depends on the character. Finally a reliable AA tatsu!
Yeah, we Gouken players got a good deal in AE (apparently) but so did Sakura, Makoto, and Dudley. If he really is suppose to be the original master, then he needed these changes. I wouldnt complain if they gave him his overhead GF again though…
I’ve already seen/heard through the grapevine that a couple of people are trying to pick up Gouken in CT pre-emptively to get a small jump in preparation for using him in AE.
Man am I going to get depressed if this happens a lot. Now I know how all of the rogue Cammy players used to feel in the transition from Vanilla to Super.

Its all good. It doesnt mean theyre going to be as good as the Goukens that mained him from the beginning. If anything, I welcome it. Most of us are familiar with his tricks, and its better than facing the same ken, ryu, akuma, guiles and repeat. Who knows, he might become just a fad to most like Justin Wong did for Makoto. Gouken actually takes skill and patience to use. Its not just spamiing fireballs/ sonic booms, dp’s/flash kicks. At the very least, if they are interested in really learning, we might get some new people in the dojos.

I started using Akuma since Gouken’s Vortex may operate in a similar fashion with links etc. and it ain’t easy at all. It’s pretty doable from an execution stand point, but you have to program your mind to operate a different way, b/c Akuma doesn’t have too many offensive limits, if any.
Even if someone tries to use him with the new changes, they still will have A LOT to learn. Match ups, Safe jumping, Cross up set ups, frame traps, KONGO, EX Flip, the hit box for cr. fp, and knowing how to vortex with him.
On top of that, they may just get so frustrated between his wake up and being grabbed so damn much they will probably quit him before they develop a “true” playing style with him. Plus they’ll have to actually learn the game mechanics and his specifics to play him correctly.
I don’t think we have anything to worry about. Ken “I spam jab” Masters, is much easier to learn. And depending on what they did to Sagat you’ll have a lot of people riding his dick again.
Gouken is in safe hands for now.
You think that the new aa ex tatsu will stop akuma’s df palm?
The new one should lock, so opponents won’t fall out of it when you hit them. Plus it will be no kongo overlap which means you can use it as you see fit.
It works very well now, if he tries it on your wake up. You can tell if he’s going to faux palm you to make you whiff by how early he jumps in, i’d say go to training mode and learn that much about him if not anything else. That small window is the difference in between you landing EX Tatsu or you getting it blocked and eating a Demon on the way down.
AE Gouken has gotten better but not any easier, on the contrary. You lose free damage out of backthrow so you have to be better dealing damage, kongo has gotten a lot harder to use with the new three inputs, tatsu is easier but not safer at all, you will still be punished heavily on whiff, wake up hasn’t improved much until we see how well the new lp palm performs, so no safe reversal either, and so on.
I see a lot of people trying the new Gouken but I doubt many will stay, in any case I welcome all of them.
Against Akuma df palm I use a lot cr.lk, if you time it correctly the palm whiffs completely and you can escape the vortex or try to punish with lp or throw, and it can only get better with the new 3 frame cl.mk

Also, be careful doing that if he has Super and Ultra, especially his super since it’s a 0 frame grab.

takinflight, that one match I had against you where we were predicting each others moves was pretty epic. Looks like my Gouken needs alot of work. Maybe I hit cruise control too often.
For some reason yesterday, I could not hit backthrow, j.mp(second hit), and mk tatsu. I have no problem hitting it off line, but for some reason, kept whiffing it yesterday.
I got on last night when I had the chance and all of you were gone…
