People saying this is a bad idea and nothing interesting can be done don’t actually know much about Batman and his universe.
The show runner being the creator of The Mentalist dooms it more than it being in FOX. Should have been developed by Kyle Killen or Veena Sud.
What’s wrong with The Mentalist, Zoo? I’ve only caught a couple of episodes, but it seemed alright as a detective show.
I’m just afraid the execution or bad story writing is bad
You know Gordon having a 1 on one interrogation with some super criminals would be dope.
But it’s pre batman, so I dunno how I’m gonna feel about that.
They don’t even disguise the fact that they are trying to be cheap but still cash in on that comic book money…fuck them, I’d rather watch Sleepy Hollow with my girl, at least the actually pay for some decent special fx in that shit.
If you’re gonna use Gotham and leave out Batman, ATLEAST use some of the super villains, even if it’s the C-List villains. If its gonna be just another cop show but set in Gotham, I can’t see myself giving a shit

TV’s expensive, man. The first time Smallville had Clark fly, it was in the first episode of the year and it basically killed their VFX budget for the rest of the season… which sucked ass.
Even for Smallville.
Stop it, please just stop lol…
They might be better off doing a mini series of batman year one so that they can have a set budget and schedule to finish things.
I sometimes don’t get the reasoning behind these network heads…you got comic arcs that could easily fit the frame of a mini series yet they would prefer to poorly adapt these arcs to shitty series that no one wants or cares about.
A miniseries has a set endpoint. Which is why they don’t want to do it.
Take it from the big comics publishers: it’s much harder to make money indefinitely on something that ends.
But they have literally like decades of mini series they could go through.
Do a season of year one, a season of the death of superman, a season of knightfall, death in the family, killing joke, swamp thing, hell blazer and so on and so forth.
They have multiple franchises they could make into a mini series…like fuck how long before we get a damn sand man movie or TV series.
They have to find and hire new actors and writers for that shit, that costs money. One of the most expensive things a company can do is hire someone.
That, and they don’t want to have a series of continuous changes. Any development if at all must be glacial, because for most people and most networks a long-running TV series is comfort food.
And while I’ve heard off and on that they’re working on bringing The Sandman to HBO, I hope it never happens.
Wake me up when Kiefer Sutherland special guest stars as Bruce Wayne.
Maybe the sweet awesome I wear a Gasmask Sandman not that stupid other one
Okay, now this is bullshit. You can either take the gas mask guy or the mask-made-from-the-bones-of-my-enemy guy. If you want the former, I shall gladly prefer the latter.
pretty sure only one of those guys has that kickin Wirepoon http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120119235932/dcheroesrpg/images/d/d6/Sandman_wirepoon.jpg
bonus thought
Neil Gaiman ruined comics more than a hundred Frank Millers could have
How’s that? By making them so good that nobody else (with the exception of a few fellow Britons) could possibly stack up?
Or by inventing this character?
