Gotham (Commissioner James Gordon Origins TV Series)

Very interesting… Too bad its on Fox, which means it will be cancelled in less than two seasons…

What a premise! Just kidding; fuck this garbage. All of this supporting character business, what with this and SHIELD. It’s not the universes; it’s the characters that inhabit them. The significant ones.

If this is anything like Gotham Central it’ll be dope

A Gotham PD series has huge potential but being a pre-Batman series fucks it all up. Fox having it is a bigger fuck up. Give it to FX so it can last two seasons.

So watch Gotham without batman and all the characters we wanna see…sure ill be sure to watch DBZ with no goku or any of the lead characters either.

I’ll watch another Flash show.

C’mon Vynce… typically I’d be with you, but Jim Gordon is an interesting enough character to carry his own TV series. The way I would envision it is a day-in-the-life cop drama featuring Jim and his unit trying to do normal cop work in an increasing corrupt and dangerous city. Keep the freakier characters in the background(no Joker, kiddies, but maybe his goons like Harley) and deal with the aftermath of the Batman’s activities.

Characters like Black Mask and Zsasz would be perfect for such a series. Maybe even Penguin or Riddler as well.

Of course, its not going to be designed that way and will fail, especially when all the Bat-fanboys cry that Bruce Wayne and company are nowhere to be found…

I like Gordon, but I have no interest in seeing this. And it won’t make it past season 2 on FOX.

I like Gordon, but I’m not sure he could carry a series in capable hands. It’s nauseating to imagine cameos from marginally more significant characters, too.

“Derp! What’d he say his name was?”

“Alfred, I think.”

ZOMG!

Gordon is boring and Gotham without batman doesn’t make any fucking sense.

Would have preferred a aquaman show or hell blazer…fuck off with worthless side characters no one cares about.

If this where being done on a different network, one that i feel could utilize the material well, then it could actually be really really good, a different view on Gotham, from the streets as it where.

But it wont be used well, it will probably be terrible, and worse yet if it IS good, then Fox will cancel it so…yea.

You know how you’ve always wanted a weekly TV series made in a similar vein to Smallville/Arrow, that’s based on Batman or Nightwing? Too bad, you get Gordon with none of the character you really want to see.

Enjoy. KthanxBye

Gordon and the Gotham PD can carry a series. Took a look at Gotham Central if you don’t believe. What they’re fucking up out the bat (pun intended) is not having any of Bat family characters around. Part of the appeal of Gotham Central is how the cops deal with consistently being overshadow by Batman and allies when doing their jobs. Batman & Co don’t need to appear on the show for that happen but their presence has to be for it to work.

Not to naysay everybody… but I’m going to naysay everybody.

This could work, and my evidence is Batman: Year One, which–despite the title–is just as much Gordon’s story as it is Batman’s. In fact, between the two, Gordon is the far more relatable one in that particular book. Writers could easily exploit that for a TV series.

It won’t work, because it’s on network TV, and it really won’t fucking work because it’s on Fox. But it could work.

And in the unlikely event that it ends up working, I bet the whole “no Batman” thing lasts for a few years, then we start getting appearances of “a mysterious caped vigilante who we might jokingly refer to as Batguy or Batboy and generally dance around the issue like we’re being sooo clever”.

Or…and just check this out…we have a TV series about nightwing…

But nah who wants to see that…

“Gordon is still a detective with the Gotham City Police Department and is yet to meet Batman who will not be part of the series.”

lost interest…

double post: give me nightwing series or gtfo

any chance of barbara showing up? probably so…I guess batman could get namedropped and wayne enterprises cameos here and there could work

“What was it, O’Leary? What did you see?”

“Nuthin’, nuthin’. Just my eyes playin’ tricks on me.”

“C’mon.”

“It…looked like a giant bat.”

[chorus of laughs, ribbing from other cops]

[Stern look on Gordon- 5 recognizable notes hum in the background]

…This is the worst show I haven’t seen yet.

I would watch Harvey Bullock the show easy peasy, I know they wanted to make sure batmane cant be around but if they go too far back and we dont get sweet people like bullock or montoya it will be sad
