Got in an hour of ULLLLtimate so far. Impressions

So when mashing can you piano over the buttons, like A B C A B C A B C really fast? Do I have to hit all three buttons quickly and mash like all those mini-games in other games? How exactly do you mash effectively without getting a hand cramp after doing it a few times?

Sanwa buttons activate with like a mm or 2 of push in so you can do the thing I learned from playing in the tourney scene which is basically “the sliding” technique. It’s basically where you put your palm over all of the buttons and then just rub your palm back and forth across the buttons instead of actually tapping them. This gives you a lot of inputs really quickly at a faster rate than individually tapping the buttons. Allowing you to get max damage easily with sanwa buttons.

I’ll add my hawkeye thoughts in the second page of character impressions.

Mashing is the most retarded thing ever.

The only thing I hate about it is when I forget to mash and not always getting the full dmg.

Secret plot of Capcom, Madcatz, Sanwa, & Seimitsu. They wanted it!

Actually, it wouldn’t be a magic series without piano and slide key mashing. As depicted by DevilJin, it’s actually easier than a lot of you are putting stock into.

Hell, i’m sure i’ll get good damage just from mashing the trigger buttons on mah Xbox controller. Iz you lazy? (Capcom trollface.) (Is not being aggressive)

You can use two hands to mash. I’m sure everyone can easily mash to max damage using both index and middle fingers. On the off chance you occasionally spaz out on your stick, you’ll avoid accidental DHCs, as well (not likely, but whatever).

Stick users, do this to prolong your buttons! :sunglasses:

I use two hands… just make sure you don’t go all “Hulk angry” on the buttons lest you feel like an XFC is needed at the very start of your Hyper Combo :nunchuck:

Task’s cancelable swings look really good for pressuring now, too.

And in what ways is XF Felicia now better than Wesker? Air Delta Kick allowing her to get in much easier?

Good point, probably best to mash only on LMH. Maybe map an extra button to M for efficiency’s sake? lol

I kinda went into it in my description but the jist is basically that her infinite is still completely retained in XF2/3. What I realized is that infinites basically allow your XF to last longer. When you’re hitting people with a rapid attack quickly in a combo over and over it freezes the XF time. You can literally see your XF freeze up everytime you get hit and when Felicia puts you in an infinite she can almost freeze the XF and keep plenty of XF left when another character like Wesker has more gaps in their XF combos. The gaps in the XF are significant because it makes his XF even shorter on top of how XF lasts shorter in general. Which means with Wesker if you hit somebody you wanna kill them off quickly and keep going when you’re in XF and naturally you’ll just have less XF left.

On the other hand if Felicia lands the infinite on you…her XF time basically EXTENDS because the infinite will freeze her XF time reduction allowing her to still have 3/4’s XF3 time left when Wesker would be going on like 2/3’s or less at the end of a combo.

If you can land the infinite on 2 characters you still have PLENTY of time to kill off a 3rd character whereas Wesker is is just about done and has to fight a real match against the last guy. If the last guy still has XF…big problems. XF2 Wesker loses his XF FAST now.

Having an XF infinite in Vanilla was just kind of a random novelty in Vanilla. With the XF nerfs it’s a legitimate tool now. The time you spend relaunching in XF and not just constantly hitting them adds up now.

Wow, I didn’t know XF froze like that. It must be really noticeable with Feli, because that sounds downright scary and something that could age well (maybe; is she still as easily kept out?). I bet Huoshen was happy about that, lol

I can’t wait to mash icestorm. The feeling will be incredible!

hey deviljin…i read you said sphere flame got nerfed in 2/3 XF. so im assuming sphere flame>XF wont completely kill a character this time… but can i still do sphere flame>XF> Sphere flame to kill a character? seems like it’ll definitely kill anyone under 1 million health.

Yeah…if you spend on more meter, everybody still dies.

She’s still easy to lame out without XF unless she has really good assists backing her. She has huge air throw range and air delta kick took care of the one issue she had trying to get in during XF3. Aerial ground bounce move into TOD’s? The move is actual a scare factor speed wise in XF and ground delta kick in XF is even better. Basically once people put it together I see Dark Felicia being a big problem as far as comeback potential. If you get thrown at all (all of her throws = TOD’s in XF3) and with how cheap throws are in this game, it’s going to be really scary. She has every mix up in XF3 also, left/rights, high lows, unblockables, command grabs…you get everything in one character once she gets close basically. It’s insane especially with the XF3. She’ll definitely be a character you want to snap in early.

Is zero and dante still gdlk? I hear wesker is way too good now as well getting 700k no shades no meter ect…

Zero got nerfed if you’re used to his old combos that kill everybody in one combo. The other thing is that he basically otherwise got buffed because his ability to get in and his mix up became stronger. Zero players will just have to learn how to reset and that’s not very hard considering his mix up and how he’s basically a walking hit box of near invincible shit.

Dante is still gonna be great. His execution is a bit tougher due to HSD nerfs but you gotta just grind it out like a Guilty Gear player basically. If you’ve played any of the older anime fighters this will be no problem to adjust to. Guilty Gear players had to regularly adjust to combo changes almost every year. Same shit…different game. Other than that his Devil Trigger basically got buffed because now he fake cross you up with double air dashes. You can’t dash forward or twice in the same direction but you can basically dash forward then dash backwards again which sets up double 50/50 mix ups without an assist. You can force the opponent to guess air throw doing this and can just fake it and stay on the ground and punish their attack whiff.

Wesker is good but I haven’t heard anything that’s going to make him scarier than Dante or Wesker yet. Zero will still beat Wesker especially now that the one remotely or two remotely scary tools he had against Zero got nerfed. No more anti air gun, teleport combos makes it so Zero can just go in unless he has a really good assist. Plus rhino charge counter super has been nerfed so there’s no more invincibility frames before it freezes so he can get cut up out of a bad attempt before it starts easily.

Wesker’s damage buffs will definitely help him but he’s still got general matchup issues that are bigger IMO than his buffs. Sword characters and small pixie characters will still shut him down and losing strong invincible assists will hurt his ability to lame them out also.

What’s your opinion on how Frank is?
