Even before I started doing those rage quitter vids, he never quit on me. I dont know if he uses a programmable pad, my feeling is that he dosnt cos although he’s good, he’s not unbeatable and he makes mistakes like anybody else. Apart from his lag induced frame skipping warp speed tiger-shots theres nothing really odd about his playing.
Again Im just talking from my experience with him, I know some ppl have had an unpleasant time with him, same thing with SMQ91, played him many many times and he’s always been cool, even when I beat him (although thats not often)
@Hitwari, well played yesterday, you did well against DGV. Ands gg’s aswell, against most zangief players I can predict when they’re gonna jump, but couldnt do that with your zangief yesterday. That guy your refering to was called ‘Warriors Honour’ (I think), funny thing is, before DGV came in he was playing poorly, but when he played DGV he was playing like a pro
Yup, I use a stick, but Haksukoun, Suken19, Serioussam all use pads and are some of the best on psn. I couldn’t believe it myself. Maybe they actually have an advantage? No, couldn’t be.
I honestly think you can play just as well on pad as on stick in 90% of cases, just takes a lot of practise.I know SF was designed for stick, and there are some techniques/moves like pianoing and a few others that you lose out on with a pad, and some characters will never be playable to their full potential on a pad, but i have definitely seen pad players that could hold their own against any stick player out there.I have a straight six arcade machine in my house, and have played thousands of games of street fighter on it, and have honestly never played as well competitively as my best games on my favourite pads.I think aside from stuff like 360/720 motions and BFBF supers, it’s really just a matter of preference.
Problem is there are just too many variations of pad out there, and most are of the same shitty build quality as the madcatz fightpad (my current bit of kit), and break easily, so a serious street fighter pad player goes through a pad every six months or so, and you can never get used to one fully before it’s wrecked.I feel like i’ve been searching for a solid, well built pad with good controls and a responsive D-pad for about 15 years, whereas if you get the right parts, and know how to put them together, a stick is always the same and can take years of punishment, and be repaired whenever you want.
I’ve been kicking the idea around for ages-Maybe i should take the jump and just move to stick 100% and suck up the losses while i re-train my brain??
the hori pad, is excellent for street fighter, it has a cross shape d-pad like the snes, the only things wrong with it are the trigger buttons are small and if you’ve got long fingers it can be ackward to press them on reaction or if you stringing a combo together.
The other thing is that is very un-ergonomic, bulky, rock hard and has straight edges. Its like holding a rubix cube at times. Its gets painful to use after a while. It has a molded point right underneath the dpad where the base of your thumb would rest and thats what causes the pain, speically when use charge characters where you’ll be holding down alot.
I had a madcatz fightpad, but didnt like the floating d-pad, and the space between the buttons and d-pad was too long.
I think the perfect pad would a combination of the hori’s d-pad, the madcatz button layout and the comfort of the standard 360 pad
Been using a pad since the snes days of hyper fighting, what are the advantages of using a stick for charge characters and what sticks are reasonably priced and good to use?
For charge characters, you probably will fight the same, its more useful with circular and dp motions w a stick. But holding down back for a long time w/ a controller does start to hurt for charge chars for me anyway. Mainly, you get to use left hand only for directional movements, and right hand (3 fingers) for attacks, instead of one thumb for 4 buttons. I can play for hours without feeling any pain with a stick, but a contoller starts to hurt your thumbs and hands if played too hard.
The most reasonable stick right now is the sf4 T.E. stick. its $150 from gs or bb whenever they get them. Other sticks like the hori fight stick which used to be $40 are now $100 and don’t even have sanwa parts. The T.E. is already perfect, no need for mods. Pretty much the cheapest your gonna find a stick is $100, so might as well pay $50 more to get the best.
wow, I’m learning everyday and there are loads of good players here who consistently kick my ass. Some of them are persona-non-grata, sorry but I have to mention them, here are a few I encountered :

Ken - dav 35, zero1 2k7, Origins Unknown, U N0 HURT M3.
E.Honda - mad possum, PlanetRV.
Chun Li - Guile75, angel killah.
Blanka - | EmpirioN |, WolfmanX 25, spatz1.
Zangief - hitwari.
Guile - Mr Irepressible.
Dhalsim - Chrisfighter77, SweetJV.
Balrog - SMQ91.
Vega - Sharizord.
Sagat - H5N1 PSYKUP 68.
Bison - De Mavrick, MackDaddi.
Fei Long - GAV60, Aqua Snake.
T Hawk - Jiggly Norris.
Akuma - adela ophelia.
There’s this one guy I met on GameFAQs called “Vegafoo” who plays a really mean Claw. I don’t see Claw mains when I play online much so I can’t say I know too much about how that character fights, but man, Vegafoo pulls some really crazy tricks with Claw and plays him to a level that I never saw prior to fighting him.
Amazing guy. Props and much respect to him if he reads this.
I got a hori ex2 stick from ebay for 60.00, I do like using pads but they’re starting to really my thumb, how long does the transition usually take from pad to stick?
I dont know if I mentioned mackdaddi as a very good bison player, only played him once but he left a good impression, they was also a guy called vegabong who used bison, he was really good too, but lots of people accused him of cheating his xbox rating kepton going down and down, havnt seen him since or maybe he using a different gamertag.
Your guile is the most “i’ve got to be gutsy and stick to my gameplan to beat him” guile i’ve ever played. I so rarely got a window to punish you, and your lockdowns were sooo tight, that i was like like “holy shit, when am i going to get a chance to hit this bastard before my life is down to nothing from blocking sonic booms”:bgrin:
no problem man, I remember the match cos I had played a few bisons that day and beaten them kinda easily, then I played you expecting it to be another easy match but I ended up losing. But it was a good strategy/counter strategy kinda match
